One reason I love Interpol is how they can carry the same general musical theme across multiple albums and still make it sound refreshing and different everytime, truly talented!
I don't really know this band or song, but I see quite a lot of people are slagging them off so I've just listened to the album version and this just sounds the same, can't see why people are getting upset lol

Marauder is ok but Carlos, in my opinion, was the soul of Interpol and it shows in his absence how much has changed......for the worse.
What I've liked about Interpol is the fact they used to make the bass "stand out" compared to other bands. Pretty cool to hear the bass not be drowned out by the guitars, etc. Anyone agree?

Brothers, i fuckin love interpol... but am i the only one who notice that the DRUMMER IS FUCKING RUSHING?????
To start - having this mixed by someone who "gets" the band's sound would be a significant improvement. But the boys must be tired. Not their greatest performance, that's for sure. The pace at the start of the song is slow and forced - by the end, it seems like Daniel's racing it and the rest are trying to keep up. Too bad.

Actually, in the original track the tempo is "acelerando" along the song, the end is significantly faster than the beginning, and for God's sake, the band can't follow the guitar, they will be following the drums, always. About the mix, Bass, KD and SD are centered, Toms are pretty panned, voice is decently overdubbed, only guitars are flipped, lead guitar (Daniel) is L, rythm guitar (Paul)is in R, in the record is the other way around, maybe this is video edition fault. It's a very decent mix for a live performance. Do you think a band like this just go to a TV show and let any guy mix the whole thing? Obviously they got Harley Zinker at the knobs, as always.

The first 2 albums are perfect but since then they have released some amazing songs but there is too much filler on the albums. I'd like to see them stretch themselves and try something new and freshen up their sound

Cristian A that's one of the worst offender's that album. There are so many anonymous songs on it. Not terrible just totally forgettable. How often do the band play songs from it live now? Even the band now their best material which is basically them playing stuff from the first 2 albums mixed with whatever the current album is

I don’t get this band. They sound British but I think they’re from NY. And they take themselves and their music way too seriously and yet I can’t say they aren’t talented. This song isn’t bad and yet it’s not essential either. So this band is confusing.
Paul’s performance was very off here you can tell by how he looks in this plus Daniel would mess up every now and then on the guitar so this specific performance just wasn’t that great
I respect this performance and the band but this pales in comparison to their classic work.
It’s tired to say, but Carlos has really left a hole in this bands sound that’s been filled with paper mâché. It feels weak, without purpose or consequence.
I wish them the best in the near future and hopefully they can find some inspiration and a new stride. I still think they have it in them. They’re professionals after all.
Yes.. they are not the band they were.. first 2 albums are classics.. this is very average at best.
Other Bands from the same era have been able to find a resurgence or stay strong, The National, The Viels and Spoon for example. Even the strokes found an interesting direction in their later years, plus Julian Casablancas got with The Voidz and made one of the best albums of the year so far.
So, it’s not impossible for a band to live up to their early years.

There is a filter/effect on the video which highlights the lines on their faces, thus making them look older. You can see it @0.48 where it makes the guitar look very scratched up. Also the colour palate is very pale, which makes them look worse. The song itself, however, is just bad.
I agree 100% very poor compared to earlier material, they have lost the way.. sadly. Sounds like it was taken from a demo off Our love to admire.. which was pretty good but just nowhere as good as the first two albums.

Must retreat back to Chameleons/ REM/Joy Division lol the original greats..

I am merely expressing my opinion. I feel that this song is not of sufficient quality, therefore I posted my comment and will not be buying the album.
And I feel the Sex Pistol's album was a 10/10. That was the only studio album they released.

This seems very unrehearsed. The lead guitarist can barely play the tune in time... the drummer is inconsistent. The mix leaves a lot to be desired. Why do these old bands get all the slots on Jools Holland? There's so much young talent out there that deserves to be heard!
