For anyone who didn't see the press release Iron Maiden put out earlier this year. Nicko suffered a stroke around 11 weeks before this tour was due to start. He is still in recovery and that's why you're noticing the simplified drumming on their live performances. I hope he gets back to somewhere near where he was 12 months ago but stroke recovery is a long and hard road.
Still amazing Bruce and the band can perform this brilliantly at their ages they are literally old enough to be my grandparents 😮 but hsve the energy they had 40+ years ago
Totally agree mate, I find this challenging, I imagine most do, but for him to do it at 71 whilst recovering from a stroke. We can only aspire to be like that. What a legend or a "trooper" 😂.
Back then all live shows sounded like this before all this technology came into the mix. This is in the raw and them playing an old school live show and I appreciate that. It may have not sounded perfect but it was all them and everything was happening live.
I am actually deeply touched by this and I feel tears in my eyes.I have been a massive Iron Maiden fan for more than 40 years now and they have always been a massive part of my life and seeing them still going strong here in 2023 is deeply touching. I am from Denmark but both Iron Maiden and everything British means so very very much to me and it always will.God Save the King and all British people.
I also tear up a bit almost every time I get to see the boys live, so I love reading comments like this. You have all of my respect, @heartborne7thSeeker. Up the Irons \m/
I was lucky enough to see them twice this tour. Sitting at Leeds,. And standing right at the front in Nottingham. They were incredible. My poor old body was in bits after waiting from 3pm to get a good place, but it was worth it. They were on fire, Nicko included. I'm no drummer, but to me he is still a fantastic musician, and a better drummer than most out there today. Long may Maiden continue 🤟
Up the irons!!! Thanks for posting! Fucking awesome concerts 7th and 8th july London O2!!!!! travelled all the way from Melbourne to see are the most amazing band & handsome guys!!! Worth every penny!!!
I can honestly say that although I'm not a die-hard fan of iron maiden, I do still have a hell of a lot of respect for them still going strong after all these years...a true icon of metal 🤘

The guy's 71, as far as I know - it's absolutely nuts that he's still giving it that much for almost 2 hours and he deserves all the respect in the world. He did look like he was huffing and puffing a bit more than he has in previous years, so I hope he takes it easy inbetween shows.
Iron maiden is the only band from the 70s that has showed no signs of slowing down or of letting old age keep them from playing gotta figure they're all almost 70
@@user-bc4jm1eh3r But they actually didn't want to be there, at the beginning sure, but after realising that there was take pop and other artists in, they didn't want to be part of it, as "rock" is just a joke on it.
THIS is my favorite I.M. song (with F.O.T.D. next favorite), but this is NOT my favorite 'rendition' of the song. The Drummer speeds it up waaaaaaay too fast, and you can tell the others are trying extra hard to keep up. So....with that stated....HERE is my favorite version of that very cool song (by a very cool band....which has one of the BEST Bass players I've ever seen and heard) : th-cam.com/video/X4bgXH3sJ2Q/w-d-xo.html
Watching this again, Adrian at 3:50, what is that all about? and throwing the pick seemingly at Nicko...if there was a problem with Nicko's playing, I would like to think Steve would do something about it.
Not sure if that's reading too much into it... might have just been a bad plectrum he throw across the stage. It's hard to tell if it was directed at Nicko...
@@TasosLazaris What do you think Dave is doing at the drums during the solo? Trying to slow Nicko down? I mean... Adrian has a long history of thinking Nicko is too fast at gigs... so it woudn't be too suprising if thats what happend :D

Nothing wrong with the tempo, Nicko played it pretty well - particularly this time. I am sure it is about sound problems with the in-ears. Anybody realizes, for instance, the echos/ duplications of the snaresound, caused by the vocal microphone and Nicko' s own monitors? This alone already can drive you insane while playing guitar, and the devil knows what else in which volume comes over the in-ears sometimes.
I noticed that right from the first show, messing up solos. and not even playing the solo on heaven can wait, almost like he's not interested or don't want to be there, shame as the rest of the band are on fire

Not bad for someone recovering from a stroke!
He got a fn stroke didn't miss a show!!!!!!!!
