As someone from a maple syrup making family, the consistency of the syrup is not really an indicator of quality. What matters is the flavor, refinement, and sugar content. Store brands are often thicker because they add preservatives and extra sugars to their syrup. Which, depending on your taste preference, can make it better or much worse. Syrup is very hard to judge by looks alone.
You’re correct! Wish my family did maple syrup. Real maple syrup is the only way to go! Table syrup, and pancake syrup is just colored corn syrup. 😝 Most brands are about the amber color. Not the thickness. There’s nothing better than 100% real maple syrup!

Sometimes our syrup is way thicker than store bought, sometimes it’s way thinner but tastes exactly the same. Plus, there are also specialty syrups that have additions, like blueberry wine maple syrup. If you wanted a stronger alcohol/blueberry flavor, your syrup will come out a bit thinner since the wine was added during canning and not cooking as to preserve the alcohol content. We actually have a jar of blueberry wine maple syrup around that I can’t use often because mom was a little heavy handed pouring in the wine and it’s really strong. Lol.
3:45 a baby bottle pop has 2 lines one for the cape of the bottle and one for when you put it in the sugar you can click the top to the bottom and then shake it so when you eat the candy the sugar is all over the candy
