I'm never going to get tired of saying it: bees are just so beautiful! Their little amber colored bodies, their chunky bee butts, their fuzzy coats and their little legs full of pollen, like they are wearing yellow leg warmers. I mean... it doesn't get more adorable that that!
@@JPthebeeman im greatfull to you for saving bees, especialy since they are dying out slowly, and you probobly know it :( I am mad cos in current times nature has almost no place to live, so well, they try surviving whereever they can - and thats super sad. You probably do not remember me but about 4 years ago I was trying to catch a swarm to start art bee keeping. Well yesterday I got my first catch. It was on the ground and I placed my box and they walked in then today another one about 100 yrds from the first. It was only about 1 1/2 feet off the ground so I got to shake it in the box. I felt like a kid at Christmas. Thank you for all your vedioes. With out them I would never have gone on this jurney
First time Dear, I ever saw a hive clustered like a swarm. You say opposite a school ? If some kid lobs a rock, you might get a hive reaction of sorts.
Ya think that's big I've seen bigger like on a program I saw on t.v. once called 'Lethal Swarms:Killer Bees' where these guys who deal with bothersome insects like Mosquitoes but now have to deal with Killer Bees found a wild beehive in a vacant lot and the hive they found was massive it was nearly 2 meters tall and was reported to have over half a million bees in it and after they bagged the hive and took it back to their headquarters where they froze the hive to safely study it they discovered it was originally a wild European Beehive but it showed signs that it was being taken over by African Bees.
Oh my! What a beautiful (and huge!) hive. That flat layer of comb against the concrete was so pretty to look at. It always surprises me when the bees are so gentle while you're demolishing their home lol. Not like yellow jackets that attack you just for looking at them the wrong way 😂 Wonderful video production as well. Thank you!
You're so amazingly talented at what you do. Its so nice to see how much you respect and understand those bees, and they seem to appreciate it too. They are such intelligent and social creatures. That hive was beautiful, thank you for sharing it with us and helping them to a safe new home!!

Another amazing and educational video JP! Cheers, fascinating stuff about the difference in the male and female cells and the appearance of the capped honey. Love your work! Cheers for posting!
This video made me smile!! I really enoyed this one a lot, great explanations like the female brood section, the drone section and what is capped honey. To visualize and actually see it!! Now I know what is Mr. Ed, Dirt Rooster and Yappy is talking about😀
Great video to share with and educate new beekeepers - eggs, larvae, bee space, honey, drones, worker and drone brood, drawn comb... only thing missing was the queen! LOL Thank you JP!
Somehow I vacuumed her up, likely the weird angles I was working in & the numerous amount of bees, maybe rushed by the weather too. Glad she was okay though & laying during my one week inspection. I can kick myself for not having more footage to share but now I have a really good chest harness & the GoPro hero 11 camera to do lots of hand’s free videoing.

Hi JP, what an awesome video!! The intro is breathtaking!! The videography and the music fits perfect. Stunning. - You take your time to show us the beauty of a natural beehive.
Yay! A new video! I have learned so much from watching your channel. I now lookout for swarms for a friend who has a couple of hives. Your channel is the best for education about bees IMO. I hope you and your family are doing well! 🐝
Lovely to see how well they're doing with you now, JP. They look as though they're about 95% Ligustica, from their colouring and their behaviour. Nice work. :)
Wow JP! THAT was different and interesting. I learn tons of stuff from you every episode. You would have been proud of me to learn that I spotted the 👸 a few minutes before you pointed her out. Yay! It never fails to amaze me some of the places they decide to build hives in. Completely opposite of everything all the books and beekeepers have determined should be a good place for bees to want to live. Just curious, JP. In your experience are most of the open air colonies you have dealt with as gentle as these girls? All of the open air colonies I have had to remove have been extremely gentle, but there have only been 8-10 I have ever messed with so I was not sure if that actually meant anything.
Absolutely beautiful hive! Your photography captured spectacular detail. I never tire of the individuality of each hive that you share with us. Thank you for taking the time and effort to save the bees and video them.
Very good video as always :) its lovely the way you treat the bees, the respect and understanding you have about them gets right into my hear. I mention in the video that I had to shut down my Sony handheld because of rain issues & had no choice but to film the rest of the video with my iPhone or there would have been more footage of the removal process.
When you live in a busy city they worry about anything & everything & bees of course are one of those things. The powers that be decide hey, this “whatever” mustn’t be good for someone so it can’t stay there. If it were up to me this colony would still be there growing & maturing & getting even more awesome but it’s not up to me. JP today the 29th of April I was working in the garden and I seen the first fee of the year, I dont know where it camefrom, It is early in the season here at Alaska to see the bees
I'm so curious, how much would a beekeeper like yourself expect from grabbing this nest? Was it contracted? This looks like a lot of work, hoping you get compensated somehow. I'm not sure what kind of work it is.
I noticed that the upper sections of the combs are shiny white. Did they used material from the bridge to build it? And what is that grey gunk behind it? Is it bee poop?
So new comb is always either pristine white or a tad yellowish white. I’m assuming the grey gunk you’re referring to is simply staining on the concrete from run off every time it rains, a combination of water, oil, dirt, whatever accumulates on the freeway above.
I appreciate bees. I wish everyone did. They work so hard to produce delicious honey. God created so many awesome things for us, if we would only appreciate and protect them.
@TrailRat2000 - that's not a stupid question at all. I'm also curious with this one. (A stupid question is asking where JP gets the Bee Vac after he shows a picture AND explains the origin.) JP, is it to protect them from the heat that'll start soon or was it a request to protect people?
For a longer explanation see comments above but basically the powers that be didn’t want the beehive there for fear someone would get stung. Thankful they opted for a live removal though & not an eradication.
I didn't see anyone ask this...but what do you do with them after you acquire a colony...sell it to someone, or donate. I can only imagine your up to your neck in bees, or running a honey farm. Thanks I love bee videos.

Wow nice video. I still havnt been able to work my bees with out protective gear. I’m not allergy but do swell some and itch for several days so try to avoid getting stung as little as possible. Do yo ever run into Africanized bees since they are in your areas.
