Absolutely agree. There are so many women who are thrown to the side once their story cools down and they're dragged thru the mud, including by Andy Cohen. And yet he walks away with millions and these women are left to fend for themselves, except now their names are tarnished.
The Bethenny Clause: Frankel had enough business sense to include one tiny clause in her contract. It was explicitly stated in her contract that the television network would have no rights to her future business ventures she may receive as a result of the show.
SO smart of her! And sounds like now they do take a % cut (removed the Bethenny Clause) in other contracts since then?

She wants attention. When Nene & Jill’s spouses died neither of them were in the Show. We didn’t see Nenes husband’s funeral. We only saw Jill’s husbands funeral because Bethany used it as a storyline. She went to the funeral with cameras. She didn’t have to do that.
Jill has been on Real Housewives Trip Shows and desperately wants to be back on the Show.
Betheny used the Show to be the millionaire she is and Bravo doesn’t get any of that $$$. They made her RICH.

Bravo basically had Bethenny crash a funeral and she didn’t even know it or realize that she was being used. I think that was the final straw. I’m glad B is doing this and I hope people follow her lead.
Yes, that was tough to hear/watch. You could see how upset she got. Especially when she said she was nauseous and could throw up. I felt so bad for her (and Jill). It all makes perfect sense now. It’s crazy what goes on behind the scenes that nobody knows about….even the “cast”.

She is right. All contracts should be negotiated through the union also each real content or reality tv actor (or whatever ) should be given their own lawyer in these meetings. Also there needs to be LAWS making emotional exploition of reality stars ILLEGAL with prison sentences!

Starting a entirely new union just for reality tv participants won't work. Most reality TV participants do it as a one off. The cost of starting up a new union would be high, which means dues would be significant and there would be no benefit for the average potential member. Established stars have lawyers to negotiate contracts, so what would be the benefit to them? Reality stars should've been under Aftra when you consider their function, and that union combined with SAG for a reason. Union's don't just negotiate pay rates. You need a staffed office, someone in charge like a president and other senior staff, accountants, lawyers, union reps, etc... This sounds "nice" but it's a sound bite. It's a tremendous amount of work and I am positive Bethenny has no actual interest in committing the amount of time and energy for low to no pay this would require.
Bravo Bethenny ! I love reality T V and I never really thought of it this way . I do believe these stars deserve more protection , more rights and more money !

Ok, first of all she’s not on a filming show with a current contract, so easy for her to say; & without that platform she would not be who she is today. A contract is a contract that they sign happily & you can’t go back and say i want more money now when the whole thing made you a bazillionsire and most all of your online content is related to it. She knows the game, just trying to be relevant with the strike. I don’t agree. It’s more About the outside perks & exposure and she knows this. She’s loving this strike & trying to pivot it to reality stars (herself) because there is an ax to grind somewhere in there w the Housewives, Andy & Bravo, you can just tell.
