I'm left speechless. I thought I knew a bit about AHRA/NHRA history, but you guys put on a show tonight. Please have Steve back soon, his knowledge and recall is beyond reproach.

Uncle Tony needs a good separate mic right next to him to kill the horrible room acoustics.

I saw Lew Arrington race the Brutus Firebird in 1972 at Connecticut Dragway. I talked to his son alot at the drag races in the early 2000's. He was working on John Forces Funny car. So was Eric Medlen. The day I saw Brutus Firebird, Jimmy King crashed a brand new Barracuda Funny car on it's first run. The car got destroyed. Everybody figured he was dead, but he walked away and threw f bombs all the way back to the pits. He was not a happy camper. That was the first time I ever went to the drag races. I was hooked instantly.

The early Chrysler was a simple engine and amazingly strong for a production passenger car design. It was also the engine that most modern performance parts were first developed on . Many 60's and 70's funnies were powered by 354's and 392's.

Great stuff! I've got all the respect in the world for all three of you, well, maybe a little bit less for Tony, lol, but you definitely left out a very important piece of this puzzle. Dick Landy's 64 Dodge, probably the first altered wheelbase drag car which I believe was on the track in spring of 64, thoughts?

I worked at B and N fiberglass where the first 1966 all fiberglass Dodge dart was built including the body for Garlits car....The first bocy went to a guy named Len Silvers and the car was named Quicksilver...

Interesting.. I remember Bob's white barracuda Pandemonium was altered (front wheels moved forward 4 inches) They worked on that many a late night.. It sat in the back of the shop after the flat camaro. The engine broke the camaro frame and body almost in half when it went.

The gasser and funny car stuff is cool but we need some coverage of the sportsman racers which are the backbone of the sport. Appreciate what your doing.

1966 NHRA Winternationals had Ronnie Sox's Hilborn injected "Baccuruda" in C fuel dragster class vs. The Melrose Missle. Great Plymouth film showing off the '66 Belvedere Street Hemi.

I have enjoyed a lifetime of my mother in law, Ruth Tice, telling the amazing stories of the inside nitty gritty of the track to track and behind the scenes glory of the AHRA days.
Would you have her on your show?
