Autumn was written and sung by Dan Hartman as a member of The Edgar Winter Group, he later had his own solo career (Instant Replay, I Can Dream About You to name a couple hits). He also worked a a producer and co-wrote "Living in America" for James Brown, a # 4 hit. Sadly he died of AIDS in 1994.
I love this song I have been trying to figure out the chord progressions in this song and done it exactly the way it was done from the original song. Beautiful. If you don’t mind could send chord progressions my way thank you
An old favorite and you did it beautifully. Not everyone can both play and sing this tune and do it the justice it deserves. (I've heard some terrible vocal attempts.) You captured it! Thanks!
Autumn by edgar winter group you played it good!! the only thing is? you can't see your hand's cording the song!! you need to video tape this again. but show your hand's on the cord's you sound great!! better then the rest who tried this.. keep it up!!
Nice job! Autumn was written by the great Dan Hartman who was the bassist for the Edgar Winter Group at the time. His solo career in the 80's is well worth checking out ✌
I played this song back in the mid ‘70s. The trumpet player, who NEVER played a bad note, did a solo that we still remember to this very day. And that was almost 50 years ago. Your cover is the best I’ve seen on YT. Our singer could hit all Edgar’s notes, as you have, and I’ve always felt “Autumn” is one of the most beautiful ballads I’ve ever heard, or played. You do absolute justice to this wonderful piece of music. Thank you!
that’s a great story, thanks for sharing. This is one of the first youtube videos I ever did. Although I’ve been a professional musician my whole life, for some reason having videos of me singing and playing on the internet terrified me. But I’m glad I got over it because people seem to enjoy it. This was done over 10 years ago and me and my voice has changed so I’m also glad I captured that moment. Be well
Great job young man! I listened and loved this song when it debuted on Edgar Winter's They Only Come Out at Night album in the early 70s. I appreciate your talent!
Throw the camera "on" more more....lol It's "Winter" (no relation to Edgar--haha) now, but "Autumn" is still a fresh memory. Nice singling and playing...now you want me to check out the Edgar Winter version. Maybe it was Rick Derringer who wrote it, just guessing. Happy New Year. 5* --Van
Hi Fil, wonderful performance!!! I have a hobby of singing karaoke and this track is impossible to find. Could you please play an instrumental of Autumn fir me... May God Bless, Billy
Dan Hartman wrote it and also sung it on the album. He also wrote Free Ride off the same album and played the killer electric guitar that Ronnie Montrose put lead guitar over.
@@tenlittleindians Thanks for the info Ronnie Montrose was a great player.... saw "Montrose" as an opening act for Foghat and Robin Trower I believe ---- back early 1970's Ticket was like $4.50 or maybe $5.50...great shows
Just a little bit of history trivia ... Danny Hartman wrote this back in the early 1970's when he had a band called the "Legends" out of the Harrisburg area, Pennsylvania. I used to see them perform live at the "Railroad House" in Marietta, PA Even back then, Danny Hartman was a gifted talent and amazing guitar player.
Timothy Spangler so cool, thanks for sharing, he was an uber talent as writer, producer, neat you got to see him early on. He died way too young. Those were the golden days of music
Autumn is almost here and I'd love a better camera shot of your fretting hand or an actual guitar tutorial on how your playing this song. With two monster electric guitar players in the band and two huge electric guitar hits off the same album this delicate acoustic piece didn't have a chance to see the light of day when it came out. Another song I like that's also passed over is from Steve Miller called Winter Time.
Hi, the chords are all very basic open “cowboy “ type , and it’s a basic 4/4 strumming pattern. Song is in C. This was the first song I ever put on youtube so my camera skills weren’t there, I maybe should have panned out. cheers
Love your singing of this.... one of those songs if I heard you singing it in a bar I'd be like "YES! GREAT!" Enjoyed it.

I need a blank track so I can upload this to SingSnap as a karaoke track...Would you be willing to record an instrumental for me?
