  • Uhm, alright, let's bury the myth of my little ponies listening to modern electronic dance music, no? First of all, EDM's sexualized and recklessly hedonistic lyrical content can hardly be said to be appropriate within the context of a children's cartoons fictional universe! Secondly, once one begin to explore progressive ''rock'' music from the 70's (or, to be more specific, symphonic prog from the 70's), it's clear that that style of music + the universe of my little pony is a match made in heaven (or at least over the rainbow!). Musically, symphonic prog is soft and warm hearted when it comes to lyrics, vocals and sound production; Playful and sparkling with fantasy through it's constant progressions and (sometimes a bit too curious!) lust for new musical discoveries, and, pherhaps most important of all, My Little Pony and symphonic rock matches perfectly when it comes to their ideological vision of a utopian future; Combining new technology such as moog synth with your spiritual roots in folk music, and so much more, as if trying to say hello and welcome to future where everything was possible, and everyone was invited. True, our usually gritty reality came crumbling down upon the symphonic rock musicians of the 70's with the rise of it's polar opposite musically and ideologically (don't make me use the P word! (not referring to ponies here!)), and anyone whose a devouted my little pony fan since their innocent childhood knows all too well how reality falls upon you when you begin school (and urghk, don't even mention the trolls please..). But both symphonic prog and my little pony lives on, in their own little separate worlds, waiting for us to understand, to join something new, something better.
    Something more.

nice, soulful rant in the description. anypony that is truly well versed in the Friendship is Magic mythos already knows all that, but it's nice that someone had the courage to actually come out and say it.

Though you're missing one thing. It's generally accepted without the fourth-wallism, that's what continuity immersion details. Rather than look at their world as a "children's cartoon", in the lives of the characters they're living their realistic lives as-is. Everyday can't be cupcakes and parties unless you're Pinkie Pie, so some realistic gritty hash gets applied to each character and the world in general by each brony with something to contribute to the fandom.

@Kayriel That said, the music isn't bad.
