  • On a visit to Jamaica Inn we have some issues with poor customer service and cold food. Really sad as we have visited many times but felt really let down this time. Have you been? Have you had excellent customer service? Tell us about it, let us know if this was a one off?

    The problem is most people don’t complain, leave a bad review on there website. No excuse for bad service. Makes a change though from people blaming health and safety for everything instead of taking responsibility. Lovely pup.

      We only complain when it’s needed and I make you right we just don’t complain when service is bad. The puppy is getting better comments than I do lol

    Luckily, we've always had a decent meal at the Jamaica Inn, always seem to get the usual though. A hot beef baguette with chips so not much to go wrong! Has it changed hands I wonder? Sounds like along with being served cold food, you were served a pack of lies too. Nice one for sharing folks. Martin & Jo.

    It use to be like a walk through serve yourself venue, food was OK

    It’s a very long time since we have been in the Jamaica Inn.... maybe the 1980’s. I do feel sorry for the pubs and restaurants but it’s difficult to when you are sitting waiting around in the cold for bad food. Hopefully your bank holiday experience will make up for it. 😃 Trev n Sue

    The clue was that no was there to welcome you, sums the place up, turn round walk

    Went there last lock down, waited 1 hour for food, arrived cold, no one concerned

    I have been going to Jamaica inn for a long time now and I have never had a bad service nor cold food. You must’ve just have 1 bad experience I can understand why they only gave you 1 refund aswell if you ate 2/3 of your fish. You should try go again and see what the experience is like

      Thank you for your comment, we too have been there many times it’s local to us and this was a first. We went back a few weeks ago and unfortunately the food was no different. It has been reported in the local news of the way things have changed. I’m glad to hear you had positive service, this is good. We did until lockdown visit weekly, we shan’t anymore.

      Yes, I think prices may have gone up a little but with lockdown having taken its toll I guess it is to be expected.

    Think some pubs are struggling to get the staff these days. Sounds appalling. We won't be going there on our trip to Cornwall in a couple of weeks.

      It most annoying Bob as we have been there so many times and this time was a major let down. If they had told the truth then that would have helped so much.

    I think nothing has changed stayed overnight in the last few days. Breakfast took ages, the meal the night before being scampi was wet and soggy. They rely too much on the history of the inn and do t care about the food. They obviously call the person who cooks the food a chef, but that is insulting to real chefs. Loads of youngsters as waiting staff, but just carrying the food to the table is not the skill. Giving every excuse under the sun is not a great idea for staff to do. Just be honest. Great setting, dog friendly with open fields, great outside dining areas. But sadly it’s the food and the customer service that completes the experience. As for the owners , just read his response on trip advisor regarding honest opinions.

      Thank you for taking the time to reply, it’s good to hear that it’s not just me that found the service poor. I’d hate to think that I’d got it wrong. I’ve since spoken with friends at work who have said just don’t go everything about the place has changed. As I say thanks for an honest comment. Lisa & Rich

    You should have got the complete meal and drinks free, poor, poor poor treatment

    Really poor customer service, from what I see salad looked horrid

      The salad was just one of the let downs, it wasn't a salad in the terms that you would expect with a fish and chip meal.

    Scrolling TH-cam to watch vids of the Jamaica inn trying to get excited for my stay in a few weeks time. Been driving past it on the way to st austell since a child. I dont really see the point in this vid tbh as you've stated you've been many times before and it's been fine. People make mistakes humans make errors that's what makes us human.
    Dont look like/sound like the sort of people to take I'm sorry weve made a mistake with you're food ! Like you say sorry! I'm all for complaining about bad service but in a polite way and dont get so bummed out over some bad food ! Didnt give you food sickness and you ate most of your meal. Lady seems very fussy and hard to please tbh like someone close to me! They're complaining over little things does my head in. Complain nicely get refunded (for food you havent eaten) and be on your way. Proper bad reviews that can take away buisness are surely only needed in extreme or repeated circumstances. This was 2021 too when covid was still making things hard for buisnesses

      We did think about any issues but at the end of the day everyone has the right to voice their concerns. Looking at views, comments and feedback it is apparent that we are not the first. However I do take your comments on board.
