Max they way you explain everything through this is just perfect. This peace is beautiful. I wanted to make a burning bowl for my wife but never had found the right way to get it done. But after watching this now I might have a idea on how to do it. I'm going to have to make a other tool just to do it. But perfect expectations on how careful you would have to be. I would love to to see more stuff like this, and I can't wait for more updates on the Valhalla doors. I learn so much just from watching ur videos.

As a complete novice who has never forged anything but am super keen to start experimenting, what would be your advice as a place/material to start with ?
@@nickmercer3130 Rebar is a great start! It's usually just thrown away on concrete jobsites. The crew will usually just give it to you! Free or cheap material is a great place to start because the pressure is really low!

I really like that dishing swage you made. I do a lot of bowls using what I call the "Steel Puck of Awesomeness", something my father made for me as one of his first metal lathe projects. It works wonderfully, as the name implies, but there's always a need for more tools in the smithy and I could see me adding one of those bottomless holes as a swage block for doing larger dishing.

Love this piece. Question, you run a torch over the weld joint until it scales? I was wondering what to do with the welds that would be "out of place" on a forged piece. Does doing this blend it in? And would you grind off most of the weld first then torch?
FANTASTIC question! Yes! Grind first, then heat and blend. I try to keep welding as minimal as possible, but sometimes it's necessary

Man I would love to know a blacksmith near me. A person/place I could hang out at learn I was going to take a class but I can’t find one in my area unfortunately.
Blacksmiths are pretty rare, but there are more people picking up the trade everyday!
@@Max_Randolph_Studios I’m really enjoying what I can do. It’s taken me about a month to get a RR spike down to a knife blade size. I had to stretch the tang out today and got a successful heat treat. Now on to a few trips to the belt grinder to finish it off. I’m definitely going to need to find some thinner stock and a couple pair of tongs. My current selection just ain’t cutting it and is causing extra work.
