Just a heads up for those using the Tascam Model 12 as a usb interface with their MPC… this new update 2.11.6 didn’t fix the unwanted digital distortion/cracking noise issue introduced in 2.11.5. Had to downgrade back to 2.11.4 to remove unwanted noise.
@@jammystraub488 Akai just released 2.11.7 update about a week ago which seems to have fix the unwanted noise for some interfaces. I can confirm that so far it fixed the issue on my MPC One/Tascam model 12 setup but from what I’m reading from others some are still experiencing the issue on different interfaces.
I couldn't resist and immediately tested the trial version yesterday. One thing I was wondering is that I had to install this on an external drive. Can't you install these plugins on the internal SSD?
@@AndyMacMPCclub Ah, I just forgot that option. However, I had a lot of fun with this plugin, works flawlessly. These are the sounds I need for my music style :)
I'd love to see the MPC-Key 61 in a synth shoot out. Compared one-on-one against similar priced and cheaper kit, with 4 or 5 octave keyboards. At $79 a plug-in though, the price I feel is on the high side. I think not providing initial additional free expansions on the Key-61 flagship synth will harm sales. Many other flagship synths are expanded free via firmware and gain new features/sounds after release. An interesting keyboard. I think Akai should seriously consider a standalone synth. A traditional synth with regards to layout - without the focus on MPC workflow. I believe there is space for it in the market. Similar to the Key-61, but cheaper. More built-in synth models. More knobs and faders. Less menu diving. But at $1,000-$1,2000 with much more synthesis options and models out of the box.
You are spot on, i can just see it now. X amount of plugins pre-installed, multiple knobs, faders and buttons with transport controls plus the touch screen and all plugins automatically mapped when a plugin is called up with the option to map to your liking. No drum pads but played on the keys instead. It is definitely achievable and would increase their market share.
@@tyranic1 Akai could remove the touchscreen part to save costs. Put a row of buttons above and below the screen, with many more knobs either side. Then touch wouldn't be needed. If they used a slightly higher resolution screen, they could show split sections for editing, say using 2 halves shown at the same time. The left half of the screen controlled by knobs on the left of the screen. Then use same for the right half of the sound editing GUI. Faster/more efficient synth real-time sound-shaping. Plus, if you remove touch, you don't need to draw the knobs on the GUI. You could just show the values/labels on the screen which update as you turn the knobs. If you can display many more values on-screen, you cut out many pages of parameters.
They have been giving away plug ins away and adding features for the last few years. C’mon. You can get a MPC One, the plug ins, and a MIDI keyboard in the range of the price point you mention. I seriously doubt people would choose an Akai synth without MPC functions over a MODX or Fantom 0 with better sounds. They know exactly what they are doing and the target market.
@@matthewgaines10 I'm on about the recent pay for plugins. Some people just want a more cut down version and prefer having the keyboard version maybe with three bundled instrument plugins minus the screen but with a oled display showing parameters. Also they don't particularly care about the most realistic instruments. Hiphop and that genre is not about that. Akai has got the balance right and some want to stay in that ecosystem.
