You can use .bash_profiles for the path, however if the top of your terminal window says zsh, then instead of puting the path in .bash_profiles, use/create the file .zshrc instead.

I messed around with this forever, tried to install previous versions of SDK/JDK all without it working. What DID finally work is installing the SDK for ME, located here: www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javame-419430.html#sun_java_me_sdk-3.0-rr-mac-JPR
same issue here.. in this video u only installed the jdk, to solve it u have to download java too: www.java.com/en/ ... if u do that the icon will appear

This command showing "open -e ,.bash_profile" does not exist what i suppose to do because if i am checking it is showing java versions but netbeans is not able to open it initialises and then nothing..

I tried it and it didn’t work. If you have the same issue, search “mac os x java” and click the first link and download it. It doesn’t to appear in you settings preferences.

Download Java from java.com and then install it. After that follow his instructions from 7:06.

i have followed all the steps but even after doing so, when I am typing "echo $JAVA_HOME" nothing is shown.
While saving the .bash_profile, the 'export' might have saved as 'Export'. This happened for me and it worked after correction
