Essentials: any hard-cover dot-grid journal that lays flat and has at least 90gsm paper, a staedtler HB2 pencil, a Hi-polymer Pentel eraser
Staples: staedtler triplus fineliners, pastel and various cold and warm grey midliners and/or brush-tips (I need colors but very bright colors are stressful for me to look at, and I like to use darker greys instead of black which I sometimes find too harsh)
Nice to have: I very recently started using washi tape, it's useful in a lot of situations but I was also doing fine without it so I won't spend too much money on that

Fair enough! I have a nice collection of washi tape, but I mainly use the decorative stuff for my spread ideas videos rather than in my monthly setups and such 😄💜

If anyone is looking for a decent set of coloured fineliners and can't get the triplus for some reason, I've found the Stabilo 88s to be pretty good as well. :)

Necessities: bujo and a fountain pen, and because I only need one, I’ll say my Platinum 3776 Century Nice Lavande. Oh and ink, because fountain pens need that. Let’s say Diamine Majestic Blue. But I’ll honestly use any of my inks.
Staples: collage sheets of days of the week and numbers. I just find by using these glue-in elements keeps me using my bullet journal and they’re the only decorative thing I do. Add in coloured pens (gel or felt) and a ruler for weekly spreads.
I rarely use much else, but dot markers and brush markers would be nice to haves.

Yeeees, thank you for not pushing items in our face and guilt-tripping with, “You need this item” as other TH-camrs do lately. I forgot the washi tape hack you do and it’s perfect lol Thanks to you, I’m loving my Triplus fineliners for drawing smooth lines/tables! I hope I can get some more in the future XD Trying them out one at a time was a good introduction, and then I bought a 12 pack. A swatch page is a necessity! I found I like gel pens more than ballpoint for writing, because they are easier on my hands, and I’m partial to Pentel EnerGel. I guess the InkJoy type you have is too heavy for me, but I did love their InkJoy 507 ballpoint a long time ago. When I see the Flair pens, I think of you x3
I hope people watching and reading BuJo supply lists don’t think we got all of this stuff at once. It look years of trying what works and what doesn’t work and a slow collection over time. I hunt for bargains, sales, and use coupons like at Michaels so my hobby isn’t bleeding me dry lol Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Five Below, and Family Dollar are all 1-5$ etc stores with good quality name-brand supplies for a few dollars, here in the US.
In the beginning, I bought Mildliners and Crayola SuperTips. I used what I had and then slowly added to the essentials I can’t go without. I really enjoy off-black ink, cuz it was easier on the eyes. Jetpens has a bunch of them to try like Blue-Black, Purple-Black, etc. I use pastel colors now and my Mildliners more, because I like to color-code and write over the color that’s also easier on the eyes; however, I did buy 4 Tombows, because I wanted the pinks for a cherry blossom theme XD I got them individually to try as well. I’m not sure if I want more, but if it comes down to a color I need at that time, then yes, I will buy it. I’m also learning to appreciate the flexibility of a brush pen over a chisel tip. Such a difference!
As a treat for doing NaNoWriMo, I bought a pen case with lots of storage that acts like a book you flip through with pens on each “page” (Lihit Lab book-style pen case on JetPens.). I house my gel pens, scissors, Exacto Knife and metal ruler for cutting, glue pen, and lead in that, too. I have a cube storage with X dividers for markers, glue tape, correction tape, and running tape. I ended up getting a separate small make-up case for the markers and pens I will use for the month. The former is storage and the latter is for what I’m currently using all in one place. If I want to plan downstairs, the laptop stand, pen case, and makeup case are easily portable.
The right storage is essential to me so I don’t have clutter on my desk. Everything has a home. I have file holder/ book storage things that store my old notebooks and sketchbooks. I also need to see everything, so most of my containers are clear or open on my desk, like my BuJo is always open and laying on the adjustable laptop stand with my pen case snd 6 ring planner next to it.
The cube dividers with X shelves in it (Amanda Rach Lee has them), acrylic storage organizers for sticker books, large Sterlite box with a clear lid for washi tape, napkin holders for current notebooks (I was desperate shhhh XD), Tweezers for getting stickers in the right place, a big cube eraser for big spots, a small pen-size eraser for smaller areas, and a large make up brush to dust away eraser shavings. Trust me, it is essential and you didn’t know you needed it lol
The reason why I bought an adjustable laptop stand to put my journal on is because It’s healthier to write on an angle than leaning over a flat book. I was hurting my back and undoing the healing progress.
Last but not least, a shitajiki is a must. It’s a thin or thick plastic sheet that goes under the page, so you don’t mark up, indent, or bleed through the page underneath it. I secure it to the pages with a binder clip. It’s good for heavy-handed people, Jess~ ;D

Surprised that you didn't mention Zebra Midliners - which basically act like fancy highlighters that can also be used to add color to a page. :) I recently bought the brush pen version of the Zebra Midliners as well - so now I have 25 colors with 4 nib options. :) Without Zebra Midliners, journaling would be less fun for me.
My "large blocks of text" writing pen is usually 0.3mm or thinner, in color of some kind. Recently I've started using Pigma Microns for that purpose. :) But many other fineliners of that thickness will do.
I bought a pack of Tombow "Playcolor K" double tip pens a while ago. One nib is a ~0.3mm fineliner and the other nib is a kind of bullet tip. I enjoy using the thicker end for headings and the thin end for paragraphs. Nice range of colors that's different from most other pen sets I own.
Tombow dual brush pens are a staple of mine too. I use them to add thick lines and other splashes of color.
Some form of whiteout is a necessity. I typically use the Pentel Presto Fine point correction pen. If I'm correcting a super-tiny spot, I use a white Uni-ball Signo gel pen.
Edit: Also forgot to mention stamps... I use a clear calendar stamp set by Waffle Flower to save time. In addition to the future log, I stamp a tiny calendar at the start of every month as an overview for big events. My go-to, no-brainer ink pad is Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink - lasts a long time and can be used with alcohol markers. I clean the stamps with a Hero Arts Scrubber Pad and a relatively cheap cleaning solution for clear stamps ("Ultra Clean" - a blue liquid).
Edit #2: I love ~A5 dot grid notebooks with thick paper (to avoid bleeding / ghosting). I don't understand why most stores haven't caught on to dot grid paper and still mostly sell lined notebooks! If I'm going to use alcohol markers (which bleed a ton!), I do that kind of art on a separate piece of paper that's well-suited to blending alcohol markers and then glue that into the journal. When I first started out, I used disc binding and cut my own paper, but I kinda wish I hadn't. Now that I'm using traditionally bound notebooks I can write the year number onto the spine of the notebook, using a white Posca paint pen (PC-1M). So now it's easy to grab the correct year from a lineup of notebooks sitting on my shelf! :)

There was a period of fomo and trying lots of fun creativity. Donated a lot of stuff. Now a travel-style folio with inserts for different subject areas. Neutrals in pens. Pencils, erasers. Correction tape. White gel pen. Ruler. If all my supplies can't fit in a carry basket, then I need to donate more. Some artsy supplies that I don't regularly use (but didn't donate) I try to use in making cards or doing outright art that isn't part of a journal insert. Honestly, it feels good to pitch journals/notebooks that have old to-do lists on them.

Personally my everyday pen need to dry fast and not mind being highlighted over, I had a pentel energel and adored it, Ive got a zebra sarasa clip at the moment and the ink doesn’t dry as fast and it smuggle no matter how long you leave it. I currently own 4 tombows and the full 100 of the crayola super tip. I love all the colours I own but I definitely prefer the light colour tombow which can be written over and those are the one I would be looking to get more of. I have a mini folding metal ruler for on the go and a 30cm one for bigger planning, the larger one has box grid on the inside clear bit which make getting 90° even easier.

My Fiskars Soft Touch scissors. I've had them for over 20 years (didn't use them much during that time) I bought them back when I was a Creative Memories S'booker. I looked online for a link but I think they don't make them anymore. They look like shears. They have a spring in the middle and you squeeze to cut and then it has a lock to hold when closed.

My BuJo essentials: dot grid notebook with numbered pages and a pen loop, simple stencil for a monthly calendar, black pen for the stencil, erasable pen in another dark color, white-out tape in case I make a big mistake with the stencil. Nice and simple. I only use my BuJo for scheduling and random notes/lists. For productivity and goals, I use The Hero's Journal. For both planners, I really really love my Pilot Frixion erasable pens. I got navy blue with refill cartridges. They're not going to last forever like a fountain pen, but they last longer than the ink from one cartridge, so it helps reduce plastic waste just a bit.

For my writing pens I usually use a black pilot g2 or a black uniball signo but for drawing lines to divide pages and create layouts I use the Microns, usually the 08 nib. Love the tombow brush tips and use them a lot but I also enjoy the crayola supertips. I recently got the 5 pack of the neutral Zebra mild liners and I love them so far and I’ve really been enjoying making my own stickers lately. Occasionally I use an xacto knife to create tabs and if I’m really wanting to go all out I’ll use watercolor or gouache. Letter stamps make some things easier, but I use them rarely these days

Yeah I have a set of lettering stamps, but I don’t have any ink for them 😅😝 I really think I should’ve put some kind of cutting tool on my list, whether that be scissors or a craft knife, but maybe I’ll just have to do an updated video at some point 😂

I’m a bit weird because I like the thinner paper. Most of my decoration comes from washi tape and stickers, and thicker paper would make the journal way too chunky. This is never a problem when it comes to bleed through or even ghosting because most of my writing is done with my pilot acroball pens and highlighting with my tombow pens.

I'm always trying out new pens to see what I like, but probably my favorite brand is sakura. (I've been considering buying tombow markers for a while but.. why would I do that when I could just continue buying crayola markers which are so much cheaper?) A couple absolute staples for me which are not listed here are scissors and glue sticks, as I love to use ephemera when journaling.
For rulers, I love using a protractor, which can do a lot of cool stuff with angles. My plastic protractor broke a few months ago so I bought a small metal architect's ruler (to have something that won't break), but I find all the different markings confusing. One day I will find a metal protractor!
