Note for future James mate, i have a drum, waste water exits through an aquatic basket then into discharge Bay due to the fish waste, leaves and algae. Strainers get blocked quickly so will need hosing clean probably daily. Youre doing everything right, keep it going buddy.

Good work James, that's the best part about building a pond opening all the boxes and buying stuff , its like Christmas as a child. Its getting the bills that's the hard part. Those ball valves must have cost an arm and a leg. Mate all that hard labour, stress of building a pond, the weight is falling off, you'll be as skinny as a rabbit, so keep smashing down those Sunday roast lol. Keep the videos coming mate your an entertaining guy.

Have you considered wrapping your soak-away crates in a permeable geo-textile and using a bigger grade of gravel as this will allow the water to soak away easier?

Hi James , looking good on the pond build but just wanted to send you an idea that I wish I’d included in my set up - basically with bottom drains you might one day get a blockage and need to rid your drains so instead of going into your filter with a 90degree elbow swop that for a t- piece so you can ( when necessary) get a rod straight down the top of the T . It’ll save you lots of hassle/heartache later on and doesn’t cost much . I do wish I’d known this as my bottom drains blocked and it was a nightmare without T pieces before the drum .

With regards to water rate reduction I'm in the Wessex water area it's easy to claim - just ring up and request a non return to sewer form, fill in with pond size ,gallons etc ,and you will get a yearly reduction on your bill, I get about £70 you may get a visit from your water supplier to see that water is not returning to the main sewer,,happy days lol. Also if you have a children's swimming pool you an claim for that. Hope this helps I've been doing this for the last 3 years.

Grade c is the best because the internal diameter is greater. But that thick stuff is going to be strong as. Probably outlast your house.

Just one thing, you should cover and tape all of your drains and opened pipe work. Stops stones, dirt, foliage or insects like snails from entering. Keeps everything clean and no problems with the system once it's up and running.
Will give everything a good clean up I think this weekend then two um up

I was having a chat with dave and kate at coastal koi recently and they are indeed the cheapest place for top quality fittings.
They also told me that unfortunately their prices need to be adjusted as the import taxes are becoming horrendous.
They import fittings from Italy and the previous shipping container was £1200 but this latest one was £6000 eye-watering 😳.
(Brexit maybe)
So it might be worth getting the things you need sooner rather then later especially because they are getting ready to launch their new website and I'm pretty sure the prices will have to be different.
That sediment chamber you have is a cracking piece of kit 👌🏼

I've never known pea gravel for a soakaway , normally broken up bricks 2 to 4" , you need space for water to gather then soak away , but I'm sure you've got a good plan .like ya vids ..

I got my valves from coastal when I built 8 years ago same with pipe from pipe stock needed 4m as didn’t want a joint under ground. Currently fitting Cetus sieve other half wasn’t happy that had to pick it up from Manchester on way home from holiday to Truro she had luggage packed around her in passenger seat
