Thank you for this! I knocked mine off the bench like an idiot as soon as the left hand thread nut was off. Put it back together twice with either a washer, or the three arms in the wrong position! Great video.

If I had more subscribers and more incentive I would gladly create a archive of step by step rebuilding any engine. And my first how to would be the 4.5 and 9.8 mercs I mainly do oddball engines.

where is the end?
Where is the rest of the assembly? You didn't show how to adjust the tension.
Sorry it was broken and I have been working on a different engine, it Will still pull start, though the cord has a little slack.
we are struggling to tension our late 79s 9.8 Thunderbolt too.. can't find much info anywhere
Any thing found on how to put the cord in and tension adjust???
Please finish the job - you skipped the rope replacement and the tensioning of the spring at final assembly - the purpose of the video...
