Sam talked about it the other day- expectations. They ruin everything. I grew up liking every crap team in professional sports, and I recall their individual big wins and playoff births like religious holidays. But then I moved to Massachusetts during the Patriot/Bruins dominance that was followed by the emergence of the Celtics. I love my New England neighbors but a lot of their frustration (and sometimes panic) comes from the expectation of greatness and never more so than after a championship. I think it’s hard, if even possible, to not expect greatness in that situation, but once you lock in that expectation you are predestined to get frustrated as a fan.
i generally agree. Wins are met with relief. Losses are met with frustration and disappointment. The only joy really i get in wins is if i see blowouts like last season. The baseline has become last season. Anything below that falls into relief or frustration.
I became a Celtics fan after growing up as a Cubs fan. In addition to being able to appreciate the winning of the Celtics, I've also got a good sense of what organizational distress smells like. The Cs aren't there, but... it bugs me that the Celtics are punting winnable games at the end.
Bro when we had Brady it was 20 years of expecting the superbowl every year I haven’t watched football since he left and it’s the most relaxing thing ever the Sox the bruins the Celtics and the pats until 1996 were all trash when I was a kid nothing but hopes The city of champions happened with the pats and Sox I still had the Cs and pierce then they go worst to first in 08 they got robbed of 3 and Bruins should have won in 10 11 13 nvm all the AFC championship games and Brady’s 3 rigged SB losses There is pressure here in New England mostly from a historical record of being trash too winning or constantly being close It’s real and mentally is where these Celtics are weak
Last season i thought that Denver is gonna go back to finals despite of inconsistent regular season. After how their playoffs went down i feel like Celtics are in similar position this seson and i don't have confidence that they will be where they need to be mentally come playoffs. They are contenders and maybe they will win, but if i have to bet i'm taking field over Celtics.

@@rjjohnson43 cubbies! Ah the days of WGN. I also liked the cubs and learned similar joy in just watching.
