In my first playthrough the first ash of war that I used consistently on my greatswords was wild strikes, mostly because continuously swinging in sweeping arcs around you is pretty close to how you use large two-handed swords in real life
At RL 200 you can rock a 50/50 or 60/60 quality build, which is when quality completely out scales Strength or Dex. Your straight sword does great sword damage at that point, lmao

Ds1 and 2 magic: limited casts (yes, ds2 had cast recovery items - I remember - I did lots of magic runs) Ds3 and Er: magic tied to blue bar In all of these games, melee has always been easier to me. So much more straight forward compared to a caster.
@@ClonserHalphalive cast time typically gets me punished by bosses, and most seem to be built to benefit close quarters combat I beat the brakes off of the giant snake bosses for seeds. No trouble, no deaths. Using magic? Im a snack that keeps coming back lol

my "favorite"build in elden ring has got to be my knight build with the vagabond armor set(switched the helm to great helm beacuse why not?) and had a shield in left hand and a broad sword in my right hand.nothing else was involved with the build asside from the shitton of greases in my pockets
I understand that this is supposed to be a very classic build, and use weapons from the previous games, but seeing a Knight build so dedicated to it, without the actual Knight’s Greatsword, activates some kind of physical pain.
I love pure knight i use strength or dexterity depending on my great or straight swords. Flamberge is my dex usually and claymore or bastard as strength. Glory to the pure knights here today nothing beats killing a god with simplicity

Magic is easy mode at later stages of the game where you have enough fp, damage and cast time to avoid vulnerability
