my voice lesson and choir teacher showed me this and stated it is one of if not his favorite rendition of this song he has ever heard. the vowels and pronunciation are so clear and, in his words: "glitter".
he died suddenly a month ago today, and at a memorial event held at my college for him, we were shown his rendition of this song, inspired by you. i truly haven't cried as hard as i did when i heard him sang for the last time, for he truly had so much life in his voice. i wish to learn this piece someday as well in his honor, and i hope i can make him proud from above.

With every video I watch of yours, I'm awed at your specificity and control. Obviously you have a lot of training, but there's something in your performances that I don't think can be taught, it's either instinctual, inherited or intuitive, and that's the way you make your specific vocal/physical choices appear completely spontaneous. It takes some performers a lifetime to learn that balance between spontaneity and practiced.
I apologize for the barrage of comments, but I'm just in awe of your talent, and I hope you will soon be mentioned in the same breath as Kelli O, Audra M, Kristen C, Barbara C, Laura (B, and O), because you certainly are already at their level. Wish I could have seen you as Luisa; I've MD's the show 3 times, and will be MDing AND directing a local production of it in April. I was lucky to see it at the Sullivan St Playhouse in 2000, not too long before it closed, and it was magical. Allison Moon was playing Luisa at the time. If you have the time, I'd love to ask you about your opinions on how best to give Luisa more personal agency, especially in the Glen scenes, what with the "Teach me, Matt", etc.
Sorry, for the long comment, ha.

    Stephen Sondheim -
    I remember sky
    It was blue as ink
    Or at least I think
    I remember sky
    I remember snow
    Soft as feathers
    Sharp as thumb tacks
    Coming down like lint
    And it made you squint
    When the wind would blow
    And ice like vinyl
    On the streets
    Cold as silver
    White as sheets
    Rain like strings
    And changing things
    Like leaves
    I remember leaves
    Green as spearmint
    Crisp as paper
    I remember trees
    Bare as coat racks
    Spread like broken umbrellas
    And parks and bridges
    Ponds and zoos
    Ruddy faces
    Muddy shoes
    Light and noise and
    Bees and boys
    And days
    I remember days
    Or at least I try
    But as years go by
    They're sort of haze
    And the bluest ink
    Isn't really sky
    And at times I think
    I would gladly die
    For a day of sky
