I had opportunity to play one of these instruments. To my ears I liken it to playing a brand spanking new 1950s-era Hammond and Leslie fresh off the line...every Sunday. On yes, I do like this instrument.

which sounds better the PORTABLE B3 w/ 3300 Leslie or the one you have here?? I heard the Portable B 3 the new one sound s the closest to the real thing.
Many will say the Portable B3 probably sounds the best in my opinion. The only difference in the pb3 and the xk3c is the multi-contact of the pb3. Everything else is the same. In a blind test it is hard to tell the difference! The female in the video is my wife, Sheryl, and she came make them sound the same.
I understand the advantages of the xk3 for a gigging musician, but why get one of these for a church? Original Hammonds can be found for less than the cost of a xk system. Is there something I'm missing?
This xk system belongs to us, Walter and Sheryl Zinn! It does not belong to the church. It is being used here because the church's organ is inoperable. Yes, one can purchase the traditional organ much cheaper. So, I guess one could say that due to the circumstances, we were gigging at the time! 🙂
Problem with using vintage Hammonds and Leslies nowadays is they are getting more and more difficult and expensive maintain. Most of the parts are obsolete, and whatever parts are still available are often old stock or used parts gleaned from other instruments. Those hard-to-find parts are often sold at ridiculously marked-up prices, not to mention that qualified and honorable technicians are few and far between.
So hard to find video demos of these portable organs that I want to hear. Thanks for posting this.
