Studying and taking the ASE L1 Advanced Engine Performance Test Series - Part 1 - I failed and why?

- I heard the L1 was hard but the truth in the matter is that trying to study for it is the hard part. I am going to try to fix that. My name is David Rosckowff, and I am a current certified master technician. I took the L1 and missed it by 3 points, but I know what I need to do for the next time.
In this 2-part series, I will talk about what you need to study and then I am going to follow up once I pass it to tell you more.

I passed!!! 🥳 L1 Certified Baby! So everyone, I put together a "Study Sheet" on our website, it is composed of all my notes and such when I took the test. Go check it out!!! driverstherapy.com/courses/
I loved this test and the L2!! After 20 years of diagnostic work with 15 different manufacturers scan tools and engine diagnostics this test is a breeze. You have to be able to look at a scan tool screen and know what’s wrong with the engine based on readings. If you can do that you’re golden
Awesome!!! Happy to hear you kicked its butt. I am retaking it next month. I have been studying for a while now and can honestly say I have learned a lot by studying. I can see if you have experience like you that it would help out so much.

Just took the l1 and l2 yesterday and failed both by 2 questions. Ive been doing this for over 15 years, passed 4 other ase's, gm factory certified, yet this one kicked my butt. Not sure why but I'm really beside myself about it because I felt like I did well on both.
I know the feeling but you did great if you only missed it by two. Make sure to get the MotorAge book and we also sell a study sheet on our website for the L1 that is helpful but you are close!!!

The L1 composite vehicle stuff can be downloaded for free on ASE website in documents area. Kind of hidden but there.

Really challenging test even for the experianced tech the key for me was to really study the composit vehicle since it's a totaly made up car and has no make in particular
The L2 is truly a hard test which makes is annoying and rewarding.
thank you i failed with only 28 questions right i will be retaken the test again in 30 days as well mice references

How many times do you recommend failing it? Lol. In all seriousness I think the text is continuing to get harder. Besides some of the trick questions the ones that get me the most are the waveform questions. I struggle with those a lot. Thanks for the video.
I failed 5 times before I passed. It is a really hard test. Whatever you are stuck on you, you have to watch a ton of TH-cam videos on and also go to a shop and ask if you can shadow someone or if they can show you how to do it.

Where do you get L1 practice test
It depends, you can get one from the practice tests from many brands of books or go on the official ASE website and get their test which I recommend most.
Any updates on the L1 retest
I’ve been trying to retake it but their systems are having issue.
You got this just more time to study my next test will be a2 and a3 then I'll be master certified then unto L1
