I agree! :') Great news, there's this chant in English, with the same tune, of you're interested. "O Virgin Pure" or "Rejoice O Unwedded bride" should give you results!
My groom I look forward ❤️ to our private nuptials and wedding ceremony in the church. I love you with all my heart and soul ❤️ you make my spirit very happy with your beautiful song and the tears I cried are less today because you are with me, love you Christos. Grand Duchess Maria
Thank you for this video! Valaam chants are the most beautiful chants of the Russian Orthodox Church that I have ever heard, and the photos you selected are excellent. I do hope that at least a few souls will find God thanks to this video.
I am far from a Christian, but even I can enjoy this absolutely wonderful music. It shows the wonders of how music can reach so far beyond faith and race and bring joy to all kinds of people.
Радуйся, Мария, благодати полная, господь с Тобою. Благословенна Ты между женами, и благословен плод чрева Твоего Иисус. Святая Мария, Матерь Божия, молись о нас, грешных, ныне и в час смерти нашей. Аминь.
I'm on my way back to the Orthodox Church after some years away. This chant has always touched my soul so deeply. Orthodox worship is so beautiful, it's the closest you get to heaven while on earth.
The orignal text is a poem written by St. Nektarios of Aegina, Greece,19th century, to the Most Holy Theotokos. A famous chanting of this hymn is by the Simonopetra Monastery of Athos.
It's really a holy chant! It was composed by St. Nektarios of Aegina (a greek island) ! The chant is called "Agni Parthene"/ "O Pure Virgin". U can also listen it in original, I always hear it and sing when I pray to The Pure Virgin! Albanian Orthodox
You are wise. Let us also not forget the Orthodox that were forcibly converted to Catholicism by the Croats (during ww2 under the Ustashe) and the Poles (in the 19th century). But after 2000 years, our faith still survives. Humble greetings from a Romanian orthodox.
"You are all fair, my love, And there is no spot in you."- Song of Songs 4:7 "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish."- Ephesians 5:25-27 Christ is Almighty God. You cannot worship Christ if you deny His all-pure Bride.
Greetings from Romania... our Orthodox chant is identical to this one. I reckon 10 Orthodox monks can sing better than a thousand protestants or Catholics. I only hope Romania and Russia can once again recognize their mutual religious and culutural identity and sit at the table of brotherhood!
Evaggelia Chelidonis that peace you feel is called "consolation" and it is a way that God speaks tenderly and peacefully to your spirit and soul through his Spirit. Blessings in Christ
This was indeed chanted in Valaam but it is not a Valaam chant. The chant was written in Greece by St Nektarios the healer. God bless all my Orthodox brethren.
Cry, O Bride, in union with the Spirit, and we will echo the refrain! O Theotokos, in you we join your cry, and the Spirit who overshadowed you from the womb: "Come, Lord Jesus!"
@Badwolf182 Thank you for your warm words! May God bless you! Perhaps other chants from Valaam monastery or other Orthodox chants might suit you, if you'd like to listen.
It's amazing to think that back in the early centuries A.D delegates from Russia traveled around th whole known world, from china to portugal to central africa to find the true faith found the true God in the Walls of Constantinople. They brought the faith back to Russia with them and now it is the 2nd largest Christian Denomination and the third largest Religious socity in the world.
You are in America yes? There are many Greek communities in the US. Why not visit one such area, go to the local Orthodox church and talk to the priest, the Orthodox community would welcome you as one of it's brothers. Though do not feel like you will be obliged/forced to convert, even simply entering an Orthodox church and listening to the music with you heart is a step in the direction to God.
I wish you had kept Alaska province. Then I could walk from Canada to Russia and drink fine beer with fine Rus music! All without a stupid plane ticket!

You are right my christian brother... I am just very disappointed about corruption in church. They should be share destiny with their people, but their only concern is how to amass more wealth... I live in Serbia, I now what I talk about...
Regardless, it's probably one of the better versions of the Old Hymn of the Theotokos to be sure. I only wish that the Byzantine Rite Catholics would have had this in our Marian Hymnals.
It is great to be part of "The historic Church" my orthodox faith saved my life.
may the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
It is truly an honor to be an Orthodox Christian. Glory to Jesus Christ
I was received in the Eastern Orthodox Faith years ago,for me also the greatest blessing in my life!Slava Bogu vo vsem.
This is one of the most beautiful hymns I have ever heard. Holy Mother of God, Save Us!
This brought tears to my eyes. I don't care how long it takes, I'm gonna learn this chant. :)
I agree! :') Great news, there's this chant in English, with the same tune, of you're interested. "O Virgin Pure" or "Rejoice O Unwedded bride" should give you results!

Mankind needs to meditate and listen to this kind of chant and song and message more often......peace be upon thy souls, and to do good.

Beautiful Angelic voices. greetings from Romania!
I'm on my way back to the Orthodox Church after some years away. This chant has always touched my soul so deeply. Orthodox worship is so beautiful, it's the closest you get to heaven while on earth.
It is the hymn to the Birthgiver of God composed by Saint Nectarius of Aegina; it has been translated in many languages.
Peace and love!

BERTIL SCALI your life is over.
Valaam chants are, perhaps, the best in Russia. This is real spiritual singing, it is not of this world.
I thought the original was in Greek
@@yaninamiller5711 it is. But has been translated in many languages
@@vasiliskarpouzis9568 love it so much in both languages
@@yaninamiller5711 try the Arabic version too. Search for father Peter Hanna

I wish you had kept Alaska province. Then I could walk from Canada to Russia and drink fine beer with fine Rus music! All without a stupid plane ticket!
Why didn't Canada ever take Alaska?
BeyaliVolk ....Because the deal was done before Canada became an official country in 1867. Alaska was bought in 1864!
+БелыйВолк Alaska was sold to the emerging America empire in 1867 for $7.2 million dollars. Half was purportedly paid back as bribes to Washington politicians securing the final sale. The Russians didn't want Alaska to fall into the hands of the British who controlled the newly created Dominion of Canada. It proved to be a fortuitous power play and the only one Russia and the Romanov dynasty could make at the time, given their waning influent in the Pacific. Britain had no choice but to honour Alaska's new American owners because it was in no position to simultaneously project it's naval influence against both these two powerful emerging entities who'd just struck up the largest real estate deal in history.
The title is misleading. It is not "Valaam Chant," rather Byzantine Chant sung by monks of the Valaam monastery.
BERTIL SCALI no, it’s a byzantine chant, called Agni parthene. You seem a bit too interested in this, for a crazy atheist.
God bless Balaam monastery. God bless holy orthodoxy. Hope the West gets the message soon, orthodoxy IS the real church

where exactly are you ?
Valamon luostari?
Regardless, it's probably one of the better versions of the Old Hymn of the Theotokos to be sure. I only wish that the Byzantine Rite Catholics would have had this in our Marian Hymnals.
