This is my winner, although I am a metalhead. Lord of the Lost is a chameleon-like band, with a different sound on every single album. Some of the band are classically trained, like the singer, Chris Harms who is a cellist, plays the guitar & is a producer too. He also lectured in music production at a local university. Gared is a classical pianist who plays guitars, keyboard & drums. They're certainly talented guys. I don't know if you've seen the acoustic songs that every artist play for series of Eurovision videos. Some performed their own songs, others picked present or old ESC entries from any country. LotL performed an acoustic version of a song on the same album as Blood & Glitter, called One Last Song. You might like it. I can't listen to it without crying, especially the acoustic version. th-cam.com/video/JefXBxvPElE/w-d-xo.html Another interesting song which isn't too heavy is Raining Stars. th-cam.com/video/ZF_4ES3Gc8I/w-d-xo.html Edit: added the link to Raining Stars
Thank you for your positive reaction. I'm glad Germany is sending something different this year which will hopefully help us avoid ending up in last place as we have been so used to in the past couple of years. As to their performance on the ESC stage, Chris, the lead singer, said in an interview that they were going to keep the style and aesthetics but increase the effects. My understanding is that he may ditch the collar from the video and instead wear blood-stained wings, which I personally would find a bit too literal ("With broken wings we learn to fly").
This year, the first time in my Life (60yold) i look ESC. LotL support Iron Maiden on her Tour and play at Wacken. I hear, that Norway and Australia had harder stuff too. But, for this ,i am waiting for the ESC Night. Go Metalheads🤘🤘🤘
It is very rare that a band that worked for their success like Lord of the Lost enters the ESC. It did surprise me and it made me very happy that a band I like is willing to take part, because usually the artists are not treated well before or after the competion in Germany. This is the first time actually I feel something positive for the artist representing my country. I believe the problem of the UK and Germany is that both countries do have a great music market, however successful and established artists may not want to enter a competion that they might very likely loose. So usually Germany, at least, sends some completely unknown artist and radio-friendly music. And we have seen the results. Most people knew that there were many better artists so I guess, we have been rightfully judged very harshly for sending some mediocre and boring stuff. So, having said all that, I fully admit that I love that "cringy" type of metal, And i do not care about insults like "rammstein ordered on Wish". Thank you for being repectul.
@@NotThatScott I just hope that those responsible for selecting or pre-selecting the songs see that diversity and creative acts are required, not dull songs that we hear all the time when listening to radio. The best song of those that applied should be chosen regardless of genre (by public voting). I really hope that that LotL gets a good placement so that the German broadcasters do realize that not everyone likes mainstream music and alternative music is always an option. Last year was so terrible and people were pissed because they did not allow an international known band to participate in the preliminary show. They offered six times the similiar dish without any spices. LotL also applied with a balled "one last song" and they were also rejected, propably for not being radio friendly enough... Thankfully 2023 was better and the broadcasters listened to the shitstorm of 2022 that started shortly after they announced their possible entries.
And like Last year German is the Last. We Couleur send a Group of screaming Babies, the result Would be the Same. At least it‘s not Zero Points. But the positive for me is, that i found a superb new Band.
in the ESC history germany allways had one of the strongest contents in each contest and got bashed down. the ESC allways been political. WW2 ended 1945. the ESC audience is still punishing us for that. in my opinion germany should cut it´s high financial support to the ESC and leave the contest. shall they find another country to vote down in future
12 points from UK to Germany this year. By far the most interesting entry by established, professional artists. The live will be incredible. 💯❤️🇩🇪

Hopefully this is a turning point for both the UK and Germany 🤞🏻
