They're trying to develop something that's never been done before. Like any ground breaking tech or venture, it takes time, stuff goes wrong, and its expensive. It's a fun-as-hell sim though
Eight years (more?) and half a billion dollars is a long time and a lot of money to at least have a base game that isn’t in broken alpha state. I want to try it out but I can’t help but feel like it’s just a scam at this point. How many hours of functional gameplay would you say I can get out of this game for the money?
@@Arcade13 Yea, understandable. Nobody truly knows how long or how expensive revolutionary tech takes to develop. That's kind of why nobody has been able to do it yet or wants to dump a seemingly endless amount of money into a project like this. But they do have regular progress to show, full transparency of finances and pipeline, and you can actively play the game right now for $45 and never pay another dime. Technically since it's a SIM, you can pour as much time into it as you want. It's absolutely hard to not compare it to a traditional game project, I absolutely get that. if you paid money and never got to see results or play the game, 100% would be scam term worthy

Game packages are quite literally buying the game so negative. Wait till IAE in November to try the game for free for a week and find discounted game packages. That way if you enjoy the current state of the game, you can make an informed decision.

Did you buy a starter ship pack? Only starters have a game copy and it will say includes game download. You can get a refund for any purchases up to 30 days.
I usually like your videos, but even though you can play parts for free its still a long wat from full release. I dont like how you guys are promoting a game thats been under development for ages and is only cashing in on MTXs and wont be released any time soon. You'd be better of spending time highligting games that have actually released. Hence my thumbs down.
Codiak here...Star Citizen is a game Livid's been passionate about before he and I ever met. He's talked about covering it for over 2 years now, and we finally have the freedom to do that. As he said in the video we'll never push folks to buy anything, but he loves what this game strives to be which is why he is covering it. Thumbs down if you want, but now you know a little bit more of the backstory.
As we said, during events which happen multiple times a year, you don't need to buy anything and can use everything for weeks at a time to see if you like it.
the world's most expensive tech demo, costing half a billion to get to this point why do people get so excited for this game when they've already earned a AAA budget and still haven't entered beta yet? may be a reaaaallly stupid question, but when you say lifetime insurance on a ship, do I need to maintain that with in-game currency too? or is it actually lifetime insurance with nothing needed to maintain it? sorry, I'm trying to be safe with my money before I invest my time and money into the game, and I don't want to buy a ship with IRL cash and it go poof along with my hard earned cash lol.
Not sure, but gamepad does kind of work already on PC and I know they have a whole separate team building for VR also. If they can get the core tech that let's everything run super smoothly finished, there is a possibility I think
Logged in after another 2 years of waiting for ingame content, went for expo, could not rent ship, than the game crashed. Nothing changed... Its still a tech demo with little to do and absolutely pathetic performance.
Dont know what to tell you, yes it is still an alpha, but nearly everyone I know who plays maintains between 60-80fps, plays for hours at a time, and experiences very few hard crashes. Bugs are a plenty and servers are in different states of stability depending on the patch, as in all alpha state games.
You have to be crazy to give them any money. If you do, accept that you will probably lose it. You'll be able to play it now, but please don't count on owning it. $45 lets you play it now for a while. Go in with that mindset, and you will not be let down.

I've checked the logs and submitted a ticket to RSI support with them, they say nothing looks out of the ordinary after multiple conversations. I've tried different SSD's to eliminate the drive as a failure point, I've even tried an HDD just to see if I can get it downloaded to then transfer it across per supports instruction but zero luck. I recently upgraded to Windows 11 as it worked flawlessly (well as flawless as this game can) on Windows 10. Support also seems to believe Windows 11 is the culprit and since a clean wipe and reinstall of windows 10 is there recommendation, its just to much hassle for a game that despite enjoying it, I dont enjoy enough to go through the rigmarole. As a side note my girlfriend also had this issue with the game when she upgraded to Windows 11 (did at the same time).
Interesting. I had some major issues with recording software with Windows 11 so I dont doubt there is something happening there. That whole OS doesnt play well with a lot of things just yet unfortunately. Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Nah, I don't think so. Most updates are unsubstantial and focuses on the wrong things, can't help but feel if the game was in another studios hands it would have been completed a long time ago :) but thats just my two cents

Typically it's just a server issue. If you ever have bed or elevator issues off the rip, just save yourself the trouble and relog haha

New rendering engine coming in the next major patch will improve CPU performance and open the doors to their new lighting engine Vulkan.
I'm almost typing "why no one talk about star citizen" at google search.
Game just continues to prove that it’s no where close to full release, and that’s turned a lot of people off
