Just a tip. I have been container gardening for years. I use olive drums cut in half. If you drill holes in the bottom of the containers, even if they are 1 inch , when you fill the container with soil and set it on the ground, the weight of the soil will not allow the water to drain properly. It presses down so hard on the ground that it does not drain good. I have found that it is best to cut a large hole, like 12 or 15 inches in the bottom then put in your dirt. Good luck, enjoy y’all’s videos.
I use regular gravel under mine, about 3 inches, and it works perfect. My Brother props his up with treated 4x4's. Either way, Ray, folks with just a LITTLE space can do it just fine, even for a couple tomatoes!
This is so true and I learned the hard way a drowned a few nice tomato plants. So I use 2x2 boards to keep them up off the ground over an area that has been weeded so no weeds or grass grow under the area.
Thanks for the catfishing video. Brings back a lot of great memories I have with my dad. He always said that any fish with scales is bait for catfish. We went almost every weekend in the spring and summer in Texas. He passed away on November 8th at 86 years old. I miss him a lot. This video brought tears to my eyes. In a good way.
Hey Gabe...I grew a garden for 46 years in Kentucky. Our favorite was always Better Boy variety. Good sandwich tomato. Perfect in BLTs. Listen.....I've been watching your videos for years and I'm usually pretty quiet but I was also a single father of two kids. I want to tell you that I loved your videos with Kelly but I love who you are with Crystal. She is really good for you and those boys. You've changed for the better and I like seeing you do the father thing. I hope to get to meet you guys one day. Take care
I love that your videos are for everyone! I watch you religiously even when you are not uploading I go back and watch old videos. love you and your beautiful family ♥️
Gabe i truly want to say thank you your videos literally saved my life im a single mom orbs boys homeless from Baltimore md i suffer with depression and the video of you in domanica that day i wanted to give up on life but something about that video u give me hope i literally go out n panhandle or look for work to get a cash app so me an my boys have food and a warm place to sleep please never give up because of you im still alive right now my boys are with a friend an im outside in the cold using wifi from the library just to watch your videos i do that everytime you upload again gabe thank you for saving my life😢 i wish you nothing but happiness and success!!!!!!!!!
Your boys are going to grow up to be great men, you have included them in everything you do and they sure do appreciate it. Love watching your videos. Chrystal will do fine with her raised containers and you all will be enjoying fresh veggies. Just a hint if you like radishes then plant them around some of your other planted veggies cause they will come up super fast and you will be eating them before the other veggies. Up here in Me. if it was 70 degrees we would be in shorts and tshirts. Thanks for taking us along.
Luke is such a great angler. I love watching him fish I love the way he sets that hook and reels them in. I dont think was a good as him at his age. Hes gonna be an even greater fisherman in 10 years. Much respect to his greatest teacher Blue Gabe.
I bought a can cooker jr last spring for my dad to keep in the camper and it has changed how we cook in camp. It does the best shrimp and grits. It changes the game on fish stew. And we love it. Just because of this channel and deer meat for dinner. Thanks guys. Great product.
Gabe build you a compost wheel. It’s two big wheels on either side of a drum, we made our drum from 4 drums to add grass clippings, and throw all your food scraps and coffee and tea grams in it and spin it around the yard and compost everything. We do all that composting and it really feeds our plants in raised beds for the whole growing season. I keep a few tomato and pepper plants going year round so I eat fresh veggies year round. I grew squash the whole time this year and even though slow growing they’re still alive and producing now. Raise your own meat chickens and feed them a lot of organic stuff as well and you’ll have mo kinds of organic stuff and not going to the grocery store and spending money.
Nice video Gabe, love seeing all the family together doing all sorts of things. Would love to be able to grow my own vegetables, I look forward to seeing how Crystal goes with that. 👍
Perfect outing. Gabe just a regular old high water river fishing, bouncing between bends in the rio, fishing the eddy pools, capturing the eater sized catfish, Reality! Oh, Crystal, lil lady you ARE as Gabe said, an intensely focused angler. Your smile/expression goes from intense to immensely happy on every hook set. The boys are clearly well mannered, polite and they seem to bond well with ‘Miss Beachy”. I hope for you all, this bond becomes/remains a long term family bond.
Thank you Gabe for this relaxing family video. It was so nice to see the boys catch so many catfish 😄😉. You and Crystal did awesome also. Your precious boys are so big now, and are intelligent, cute, funny, and very strong, and capable. I really love this video Gabe. Keep them coming Gabe, you have big fan in me. I've been a fan since you first started your channel. A big heart for each of you❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love when the notifications pop up and says blue gabe... the caption is going just about how my day is going but I'm about to be cheered up with laughter by one of the best TH-camrs...
My guess is the raccoons got the chickens. As a container gardener myself. I would recommend a drainage layer in the bottom before the soil crushed rock works but crushed plastic water bottles are lighter. Also one tomato plant per container as they will get huge there. Even in WY we only put one plant per container.40 is t shirt weather in WY try minus 30 F with a windchill of minus 48 F
You, Crystal and the boys are great together. I loved this video and all your adventures. I was just watching TH-cam about container gardening. My family is concerned and want to produce our own veggies/ fruits as well. I'll be watching and hope to see your garden in upcoming videos. Like Jake always say it's time to get the heck out of shape.
Lmao. Goofy Lukie. He's at that age. I swear he's grown 6 inch in the last 2 months. Great content Gabe. The four of you absolutely deserve one another.
Good seeing you all I love your videos and to top it all off You are a super wonderful Father, just a great guy Thank you for posting post as many as you can please!
Based on your recommendation I just bought a can cooker, it’s grill, and the griddle attachment in a $89 deal. Looking forward to trying it out and making food with it.
Can't wait for our trip to Horseshoe Lake in Arden Ontario. Common species are Pike,Large mouth bass, yellow perch, black crappie, blue gill, pumpkin seed, rainbow trout, and sockeye salmon. Going to be a blast
Gabe when you plant your tomatoes plnt them down to the first leaves and they will hsve a strong stalks you can put eggs shells and a asprin in the hole
If you have issues with drowning the plants on the ones you drilled holes in you should add a layer of gravel and a weed barrier or cheeze cloth to help drain access water. Alot of times those holes will clog and turn your bed into a pool. So the cheese cloth will prevent the soil from clogging the gravel and the water will drain properly.
Another positive and fun video gabe with the family.i love to watch you and crystal interact and have fun with the boys and catch fish or hunt and clean and cook.
That's so awesome Crystal's starting a garden! We had chickens for years in the midwest. We had to bury chicken wire a few inches down around the coop to keep the critters from eating them. Good luck!
Yes the yellow ones are much sweeter. They go well with purple tomatoes, they off set each other and taste great with thinly sliced onion along with feta cheese mini squares. Yummy! I think you will like them.
When you build the chicken cage you gotta run that chicken wire deeper in the ground so they can't dig under it. When we use to dog hunt we had around 20 beagles and we made our garden right next to our dog pens let the run off fertilize our garden we got the best veggies. I bet it's a bobcat they love chickens and turkeys great vide.
Baby sitting tomatoes is a kinda necessary. The small cherries less picky. Good luck. Great soil you bought for starters and feed em miracle grow regularly, twice as much as directions.
That look Crystal gave you at 26:57 when you drank out that blue cup that you poured tea in was priceless 😂 Looks like she was saying why in the hell are you drinking out my cup. I always look at her facial expressions when yall do something that ticks her off I crack up everytime😂
Gabe, Crystal awesome video. I am headed into my 3rd year of veggie gardening. Some friendly advise for your is to make sure you have 2" to 3" of mulch. Ask mom for hints & pointers. And good luck. I can hardly wait to see how your garden grows. Thanks for taking me along on this fishing trip. Last time you did a C, C and Sand Bar Cook Luke out fished you all. I hate to tell Luke, but he will be Lukie to the day you die Gabe. Luke it is a dad son thing, or someone that loves you. Excepted it.
Hey blue gabe. I live in western North Carolina. I live and breathe hunting and fishing. I grow apples for a living. I totally understand your concern with the insecticides and herbicides. It’s definitely not what it used to be. Gets harder every year for a farmer to make a living. Love everything youre doing and the way you’re raising your sons 👍🏻
You could have made some awesome catfish chowder using a block of cream cheese, 2 cups of milk, fresh catfish nuggets, taters, carrots, celery, onion, black pepper, garlic, and salt. It'll make your bottom lip slap your upper lip, it's so good.
Hey Gabe, this is a tip from an old guy that has raised chickens in the past. The first thing I want to say is good luck, Chickens live at the bottom of the food chain. What I mean by that is they will attract everything that likes to eat chicken. If you have no varmints around your place, just add chickens to the mix and you will have them all. Build a strong coop up off the ground with a good sized fenced in area for a run. Cover it with chicken wire or you will have hawks trying to get a snack. Then lock your chickens up at night. A good barking dog will be handy too
Gabrial, been waiting for this. I asked for some cat fishing awhile back, thank you. Do some at night if it's not too dangerous. EVERYTHING changes in the dark on water, I bet that would be a great video, especially with Crystal and the boys!
As a plant grower. I recommend starting a compost soil pile. That way you mix your amendments like manure into it to make potting soil. Don’t throw out used potting soil. Put it in compost pile and amend every year and reuse it.
I used to use shrimp as catfish bait and it works great. I know it is kind of expensive bait, but it stays on the hook much better than chicken liver. Jake was killing it with the big fish. I wanted Crystal to catch the biggest because she is my favorite.
Put some of your scrap fish under the tomato plants as fertilizer, might work for all your veggies but I've used it on tomatos , which is all I used to grow . That an peppers , Chile peppers , jalapenos , and poblano peppers are all easy and fun to grow .. Birdhouse gourds are really fun to frow if you have a fence ot trees for the to cling to and when they dry out you'll have a bunch of seeds for the next year and you can make cool birdhouses out of them , or just paint them as a craft . . Also when you are choosing tomato plants you want Indeterminant . From Google :Indeterminate tomato varieties are vining plants that continue to grow longer and set fruit throughout the growing season. Determinate tomatoes reach their mature height, set all their fruit at once, and stop growing.
we had a greenhouse frame that was no longer selling the cover for it, so it was just the metal frame, long as a truck, covered it in chicken wire and let loofah gourds grow on it and bitter melon (good for your blood) both very hardy on weather conditions and grow alot of food once it takes over. i got passion fruit vines that grow all over the chicken coop fense area, provides shade and helps keeps racoons out. may of been racoons that got in, they killed my chickens too few times. in TX
Hi Gabe, on your chicken pen dig a trench around it about 18 inches deep by 2ft,and lay your chuck pen wire mesh 2ft away from your pen and up the pens wall. Nothing will be able to dig under your chuck pen. It keeps them safe. Bob UK
Man that normally happens when you have plans for something to go as plan then all sudden things change! Thanks for sharing another amazing video!! 🎣💯💫💫💫💫💫💫
Great video. Love the garden tips. We tried to start a garden during the lockdown. Planted in the ground. Didn’t make it do to critters & weeds. I’ll use your advice. Thanks
We had over 900 chickens at one time in polk city Fl, the way to stop critters from digging under it is to attach chicken wire to the side and bury it 6 inches then come out 2 feet, so when they start digging against the side of the pin they will just hit wire.
On my farm here we have an acre of nothing but container garden. Y'all will be fine but check your soil a few times a year. We're market farmers and been doing this for 30 years. Our actual gardens we do the same.
I was born in Miami. My parents are Canadian and woild say light the heaters, it gonna get into the 60's tonite. They said 60 in Fla was like 30 in Canada. I'm in Tennessee and it was -15 with 8 inches of snow a few weeks ago. I'll take 60 any time any where.
@Bluegabe just a helpful tip, get some women’s stockings and cut the feet area out and stuff your chicken liver in it and tie a knot to make a liver ball and put it on your hook (will not come off) this way keeps you from having to keep putting bait on and after awhile just dip it back in the liver juices lol
I am with Crystal the price of nightcrawlers is overly price. So here is a little solution. Let Luke start growing his own nightcrawlers. Growing a garden is awesome and that is something I want to start and soon. I love you all life.
Another great vlog love watching Im cfkying uk to tenerife tomorrow (Saturday 4.5 hour flight ) out for fishing sunday and monday home Tuesday hopefully a big bluefin tuna on the boat
I just love your videos - but most of all, its a pleasure to watch those boys grow.....they are still a little childish and yet quite more "grown-up" than other kids at the same age 🇩🇰♥️🇺🇸.
Just a tip. I have been container gardening for years. I use olive drums cut in half. Space your pots out a bit. You will see lol
So true
Make sure you have plenty of room for the super sweet 100 cuz they can get 14 feet long
This is so true and I learned the hard way a drowned a few nice tomato plants. So I use 2x2 boards to keep them up off the ground over an area that has been weeded so no weeds or grass grow under the area.
And the best Dad ever award goes to Blue Gabe! ❤❤❤❤

Was thinking the same. I live in NH. It was 30°F where I live, during the "hottest" part of the day 😂
I always like watching your videos for the adventures.
Good luck on the garden & new motor.
I’m at the ER but bluegabe keeps me in high spirits!

God bless you all Gabe, thanks for keeping it real ole son. Peace
Love the video as always. Keep it up 👍 🎣
Love it! Luke is getting so tall!

Thundermist lures catch-a-cat bait pockets are great for keeping livers on your hook.
Ima look at those, TY~
BlueGabe blessings from Jamaica 🇯🇲
Great video. Love the garden tips. We tried to start a garden during the lockdown. Planted in the ground. Didn’t make it do to critters & weeds. I’ll use your advice. Thanks
Good video Gabe!!!

I am so jealous of that new motor. I have a 2022, got it just before they came out with the instant reverse. Can't wait to see how you like it.
Love the videos man, keep it up.
On my farm here we have an acre of nothing but container garden. Y'all will be fine but check your soil a few times a year. We're market farmers and been doing this for 30 years. Our actual gardens we do the same.
It hits 40 in MN we get the shorts out. Until it's negative whatever don't call it cold out.
That joke with the 60hp was so awesome!
Man i love this channel. Love from canada !
That’s a pile of good eatin right there 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. Great day with the family. 👍🏼

Your back is going to look amazing. I love fresh fruit & Vegetables. Congratulations
If you want to try Gogoshar peppers are the best I know. And with tomatoes Puszta Kolosz if they are available in the USA, greetings from Ingolstadt.
Great. I like fishing life, maybe so 😃
Boys are getting so big! The memories they will have to last a lifetime! Catfish for days!
What a relaxing arvo! That soup made me hungry.
Add a couple of basil plants in those tomato beds, keeps away some pests and you can also harvest fresh leaves for cooking.
I am with Crystal the price of nightcrawlers is overly price. So here is a little solution. Let Luke start growing his own nightcrawlers. Growing a garden is awesome and that is something I want to start and soon. I love you all life.

I just love your videos - but most of all, its a pleasure to watch those boys grow.....they are still a little childish and yet quite more "grown-up" than other kids at the same age 🇩🇰♥️🇺🇸.
