Honestly, I'm black (from Jamaica) and sometimes I hate that I heard Gods Menu and fell in love with Straykids' music. Not because of Straykids, but because it has opened me up to the toxicity that is kpop fans. Many of them, non-black and even the black ones, are constantly using the very serious issues of race as a tool to hate on groups they consider to be competitors to their faves' popularity and success. Since 2020 Straykids has been growing exponentially and I think a lot of these kpop fans are scared (they'll tell you they're not - but - action speaks louder than words). So they drag their music, like that will stop people from enjoying it. I ain't listening with your ears, how you gonna tell me what I should like? ? When that doesn't work, they dig through their past trying to create scandals - twisting things to suit whatever narrative they want and paint them as villains. The easiest thing to use as a tool to 'cancel' someone - is race. So Bangchan wearing braids? - Racist. Bangchan getting called on to introduce himself creatively on a variety show, and then deciding to modify the lyrics of 'This is America' to describe himself and doing the dance - he's mocking Jim Crow. Hyunjin on a variety skit where he's given costumes, picks one from a famous cartoon in Korea - He's doing blackface. 1. I know this is very different for black people in America - but where I'm from, most of us really don't care about non-black people wearing braids. So Chan wearing braids has never been an issue for me. He thought it looked cool, he braided his hair. I would only tell him get a black stylist next time, the shit could have been done tighter - in my opinion. 2. This is America. I remember watching that video years ago (and a lot of analysis videos on it) and sooo many people (including black Americans) were just learning about the Jim Crow pose because of those analysis videos - because the song itself doesn't even explain it. But for some reason, kpop fans (who themselves didn't know what it meant) insist an Asian kid who grew up in Australia and then Korea should know exactly what that pose means - because he speaks English. I call B.S. Also - he was not mocking the video, he was imitating it - modifying the lyrics to basically say "this is bang chan" and describe himself. It may have been ignorant, but it was not hateful. 3. The character Hyunjin dressed up as is debatable. I watched that straykids variety programme (before it became a scandal) and I did not think black face. Once someone made a video highlighting the big lips and curly hair and saying it's blackface, I thought, I can see how you could say that. But note that was not my first thought before this, and I'm black, with a pretty good understanding of American history. Some Koreans also consider the cartoon to be a representative of their ajummas (probably spelt wrong) - basically older women who perm their hairs. I don't know if the artist was mimicking black people or korean older women - but Hyunjin was clearly innocently portraying a popular cartoon from his childhood. To me it's this simple - even if the cartoon has racist undertones - Hyunjin didn't know - and he apologised when it was pointed out 4. There has been one thing (only one) that has seriously caused me to question Straykids. Han said the N-word (and I guess things about fat people, etc) in a rap when he was 13. For some people that's unforgiveable. For me, it ultimately wasn't. Why? Well, age does matter. It does not excuse, but it matters in me assessing how much your action is fueled by true hate, ignorance or misplaced youthful angst. Before someone dug up that rap - I remember Han sitting down with Changbin - he had gone home and found his old lyric notebooks. He told Changbin that he was so embarrassed looking through them because they were so angry and he doesn't understand why and who he was so angry at. He talked about getting into rap and feeling both confident and not - trying to prove himself. It was meeting Changbin (who is one of the best rappers I've seen) that helped to humble him and help him shed the missplaced anger that was really about his own self-doubts. He also told Changbin he was deciding to keep those books to remind himself of the past him and how he never wanted to be like that again. These lyrics books were from when he was 13/14 - right when that rap was done. So when the scandal came out I thought, Han already learned the lesson. He already knew how wrong he was (we just didn't know). Then he penned his own apology, took accountability - and I believed him. I think he did a racist thing and I don't think he's racist. Seems like an oxymoron, but there you have it. I don't expect anyone has read all of this - but if you have - this is not intended to shape your opinion of Straykids. With all due respect, truly, I don't care how anyone feels about them because I got into them on my own, did my own research and my opinion is not based on what other people think. But since this is the hot topic in this comment section I figured, what the hell, I'll just say what I want to say about it.
Idk bout the first one I'm from east Africa and I see where your coming from when you say it isn't offensive to you. I had wondered why African Americans were offended before I looked it up. After researching it and reading bout the racist treatment they got for wearing braids and how it is not a costume they can take off when covinient etc... I respected their experience with these issues. By considering cultural relativism I decided that I am with them on this one. Even if it may not be offensive outside America it is simply not worth stabbing into the wounds of those people for.
@@itsaliveunfortunatly8961 I get you, but for me, I can respect your position and maintain my own honest feelings. I will not be offended because someone else is. I stand by you having the right to feel whatever you want, and the same for me. Us black people are not a monolyth. We have shared, but also vastly different cultures and histories, based on where in the world we're from. And to be clear, I am dark skin with the kinkiest of hair, I get not meeting the eurocentric standard of beauty and being frustrated at others looking down on your natural features, only to adopt aspects of it. That's not uniqe to African Americans, or people from Europe, Africa or anywhere else. But still, even though I dont respond to people wearing braids the way they do, doesnt mean I begrudge them feeling how they feel. It's simply that, for me, if someone is not hating, and actually appreciating your culture and features, acknowledging it came from you, I dont consider it cultural appropriation. But, even if it's that, it's not the same as being racist. Most people on earth (including black ppl) appropriate other cultures, it does not mean they are hateful. Fun fact: I think most people think Jamaica, specifically, Rastafarians, when they see dreadlocks. But...the first recorded instance of dreadlocks was in India. Most people online today would accuse an Indian of cultural appeopriation if they saw them in dreadlocks.
@@bluelilac2579 I totally agree with you.excuse my English because I speak french. I'm from central Africa ( Cameroon) and I wasn't aware of the fact that non black people wearing cornrows was a big thing.just to say we have different experience and different culture .I'm just here for their music
I totally agree....as someone from South Africa....i am not offended at all....and as someone who still sees the effects of slavery, apartheid and segregation in my country we are NOT offended by such things as a hairstyle....tbh he looked good!!!!! We actually wanna blend with different races and cultures...and we are happy when ppl acknowledge our culture and traditions......and if they happen to do someone inappropriate to our culture, we just inform them, forgive and move on.....we make mistakes too!! We not perfect!! Smhhhh
I'm a black stay and I do not think Stray Kids are problematic. 2 of the things some people hate them for is when they were literally children. The other mistakes seem to be made out of ignorance not racism. They apologized and never repeated any of them. Everyone has their own right to be offended or not but me personally have never been offended because I don't expect people on the other side of the world to know everything about my culture and even if I had been offended, their apologies seemed very sincere and they have not repeated any past mistakes.
Just because Han was 14 doesn’t mean he didn’t have a brain if he apologized for it he obviously knew what he did and said was wrong then and now. It’s so annoying seeing y’all pass off racism they’re problematic and almost every group is but instead of acknowledging it and you brush it off like it’s nothing and I used to Stan stray kids so don’t call me a anti or whatever
@@trinity3585 the thing is Han did it as an ignorant teenager. No one dismissed it (fans scolded him for it) but we look at the whole picture. He did it ONCE and NEVER since. SKZ are learning from their mistakes and maturing. They are in their twenties now not being "problematic" for literal YEARS but we still have ppl dragging them in 2021/2022 for things they sincerely apologized for and NEVER repeated since years back. I wish kpop fans didn't use it to just keep blowing it out of proportion so they have an excuse to hate on them. SKZ gets so much hate for things they actually corrected to never do again and didn't do since then but still get dragged thru the mud for it when there are so many other kpop problematic artists that don't even get 2/4 of the amount of hate the SKZ do... Hypocrisy at it's finest if you ask me.
@@hitomi2oo710 people don’t like skz because they feel like the things they did crossed the line. Not everyone is gonna except their apology no matter how “genuine” it may seem because at the end of the day racism is inexcusable. Han wasn’t ignorant he knew what he was doing was wrong which is why he apologized in the first place. Just because it happened once and was years ago doesn’t mean people can’t talk and still be upset about their racism because racism doesn’t just go away after a certain time period. You say they learn from their actions but they haven’t showed it. Just because they haven’t done anything problematic recently doesn’t mean they’ve grown and tried to change. The only way we can you if skz feels genuinely sorry is if they do something to show their sorry because apologies are all starting to sound the same and if there’s no action behind your words you aren’t improving.
@@hitomi2oo710 like for instance I Stan bts and bts ARE problematic even if they didn’t do anything recently and even if they feel bad for what they’ve done. The only reason I Stan them is because they’ve shown they were sorry they didn’t just say they were. Bts still needs to apologize as a group and make a real good apology instead of rm just saying he regrets his past and they need to apologize to other races to and even with this knowledge I will never excuse their racism for “ignorance” because they weren’t ignorant and they’ve said racist stuff while being teenagers as well. That’s not an excuse you can’t excuse racism you can only own up to it . Stray kids hasn’t shown me they’ve grown from their actions they just told me and to be honest with most of kpop being problematic and apology won’t be enough to make me feel like they’re truly sorry. They were the first boy group I ever stanned and I will always have a soft spot for them but as a black person I can’t Stan people who I felt like haven’t grown as people. Especially when all their apologies are written and we can’t even see their face to know how they’re feeling in that moment. I need to see growth in them to truly feel like they have changed.
@@trinity3585 so you're an army? Ok... Chan also once said he is sorry for their past mistakes so like... again hypocrisy at its finest... I also assume you're not following everything SKZ do & say to see their growth as ppl until now to say all those things. If you no longer follow them very closely no need to come under videos with ppl reacting to them and keep blowing their past mistakes out of proportion. If you feel their apologies& behavior weren't sincere enough then you're free to ignore/scroll down when you see SKZ related content instead of especially going into it with your "dragging" comments. Sorry but that is how you came across with your comments. Let's agree to disagree and never talk again. Have a lovely life. Bye.
i forgot to say that skz has apologized for every single thing that they did and they never make the same "mistake" twice unlike other groups. They also dont make excuses when they apologize. They dont say things like "i was young so i didnt understand", no they own up to that shit and say sorry.
I became a Stay a few months ago and before I did, I used to see a lot of negative comments and hate directed towards Stray Kids. I researched everything they did and watched their videos to understand how genuine they really are. Their interactions with their fans showed me that they are some of the kindest, sweetest idols out there, and I realised that most of these comments are from other fandoms who want the focus firmly fixed on hating them, instead of recognising their talent. While most Kpop groups have a problematic past, their fans conveniently ignore it while getting on the 'let's hate Stray Kids' bandwagon. I made my own judgement call, and so should you.
If you think it like this, almost every group did something at least a bit problematic. For me is the way they apologized and never repeated it. They got better with time and the meanings of the songs reflect this. I strongly suggest you check out more from them other than the title tracks. Songs like Blueprint, Placebo, Grow up, Streetlight, Alien, Secret secret, Silent cry, Scars, etc. those are the ones which you can see how good of a influence they really are. Of course the title tracks are bangers but I think it's really important to check out the rest, because of the message. Also not to mention, they're 8 rappers and 8 singers, they really can do it all. Strongly recommend checking out SKZ Records and their solos too and 3racha.
I agree. Im black and the only way i forgive is if they grow from it. Skz isnt problematic at all for the stuff they did when they were young so hating them now is just holding hate for no reason
Exactly there’s a difference if they apologize and stop or if they apologize and keep doing it, every group has made mistakes people aren’t perfect ! I’m sure the ones who keep bashing them are one that aren’t so innocent themselves.
I don't want to add on to all the comments you got about the "problematic" part, so I'm just gonna say don't worry about it. there's no current drama with them, and we would love to see more reactions to their stuff if you're feeling up to it! I always love watching new people discovering the groups I like, and skz are pretty much my ults at this point lmao
same!! the whole reason I stalk SKZ reaction videos is because it's so fun watching newbies go down the rabbit hole and fall in love with them like I did lol. these boys suck you in SO quick. XD
ion think it's your place to tell a black man what he should and shouldn't worry about. it will come down to his opinion and how he feels supporting them. there was a better way to word this. but either way it will come down to how he feels :) also i mention race bc that is the concern for majority of their issues. i am not attacking op commenter, just urging a more mindful choice of words!
@@cheydesu241 I didn't mean it like that! I just meant that he doesn't have to worry about being "cancelled" or something bc of reacting to them, so if he enjoys their music and wants to do more content about them, he should 🤷♀️
@@cheydesu241 umm what’s the point of bringing race into this. Leave that girl alone. She made the most simple friendly comment she could. Looking to poke doesn’t make since.
Alot of groups have done very problematic stuff but its really ironic that people pick on the only ones who owned up and apologised. Either ways its really your decision whether to keep reacting to them or not. Because as a black stay one thing i can tell you for sure is youll keep hearing things like that
Chan does a live every week for stays, he is so caring. He always promotes other artists than he and stays like. He's really shy actually but not on stage. He really is an emotional support. Minho was a backup dancer for BTS before, he even appeared in their documentary. Also he supports a lot of charities. Minho might seem rude to some but he's just not that affectionate, he expresses love by taking care of the members and cooking for them and more. Changbin is an amazing support for the team and a great writer and producer. And his singing voice is so different from the aggressive rap he does that you won't even know it's him when he's singing. He has a solo with felix. All 3racha members have 100+ songs written/produced by each of them. Hyunjin is a full time artist, he loves to paint a lot and he's really good at it. Also he has a few dance performaces by himself, he's amazing. He can sing really nice too. Han is an all rounder, he can sing one of the highest notes but he's an amazingly fast rapper aswell. He took most of the singing part after Woojin left the team. Han is an amazing writer, his songs hit different everytime. He's extremly caring and funny. Felix is a such a sunshine, he cares so much for the members but he's an amazing dancer as well. He likes to bake for the members and he's really affectionate. Seungmin has a lot of gorgeous covers to check out, his voice is just amazing. And Jeongin shines on stage, he's really fun and caring aswell.
Chan did a live this morning but I had no idea what he was saying because you can’t do subtitles when it’s live. (Forgive me for pointing out the obvious about the subtitles) 😆
I’m a black stay and everything they’ve done is from the past, they’ve apologized and they haven’t repeated those actions, so I feel comfortable supporting them. It’s your choice, but from my perspective the members who have done stuff have changed since years ago.
What? I don't think we can find a group that didn't do any mistake till now. Almost all of this kpop industry (like BTS, NCT, Blackpink etc.) have done "problematic" things for "some people" not just Stray Kids. And most of them proven wrong or apologized for being insensitive or ignorant about some things and didn't repeat their mistakes. I have seen way more problematic idols then these I exampled, trust me you haven't seen a really problematic idol yet. Idk why people bring this things up again again like their idol didn't do anything insensitive. Sometimes people forget that idols are human not robots, they can make some mistakes too and learn their lesson
Seriously, thank you for commenting this as well. I wrote the same. The fact that THESE ANGELS get the only “problematic” title in a video pisses me the fuck off. I like him but I dare to see if he would put the same title on a video of BTS. Army would search him up to take revenge. The toxic in the industry isn’t residing in the Stray Kids fam at all. NOT IN THE GUYS, NOT IN OUR FANDOM, NOR IN THEIR LABEL. There are far way more act that are literally a bank for money and exploited in any single way.
Right. 11 years into kpop and yea, SKZ is not even at the problematic kids level. We have seen a lot. Just like more than half of the industry, they are one of the good and genuine groups.
@@annawaldhof1649 BTS did many too and are older cause they have been in the industry longer. Also, they are much more checked and locked down in their lives. Basically, not living and only working compared to groups like. It’s normal to commit more mistake when you are basically experiencing life. What was frustrating it’s the useless comment at the start since you could be told stuff by anyone about anyone.
@@annawaldhof1649 skz are recent because they’re a new group and Bts still haven’t apologised for things, of course I don’t think they’re bad people and know they’ve changed but especially with skz recent stuff it seems more like ignorance than racism of you get me? The worst thing skz had done was the Han thing which happened in the same year Bts members have said both the n word and the Korean n word as well, and the Bts members were older so it must’ve been something that was normalised for them at that time
Hey 2 things: 1- BTS have apologized for their ignorance and things that was Addressed to them and what they are doing now, LYS showing love and genuinity of All races, sex/gender etc. this is why they’re More loved than hated by people who Actually pay attention and kept up with them. Spiritually and energetic you they have this Air about them that Aside from Mere looks and music, the Humans Behind the 🎙 is always more important, because we are putting such frequencies in our👂and letting our kids listen to it, so if all is positive then there ain’t no problem with me about nothing, especially if it’s been Addressed and repented for, shut They gotta luv themselves too and can’t Over worry and Please to Appease Everyone, right? The only words I know that is Spelled and “Sounds”like the Africanamerican Nword is their “I, you, & Me” words. So aside from that, what IS it? 🤔
I wouldn't say straykids are "problematic"..yeah they've done some things that weren't great, but overall they are a good group. And the whole woojin thing doesn't even have to do with straykids since he isn't a member anymore. So even if the accusations were true..it doesn't affect straykids. In my opinion they are good boys who deserve the recognition they are getting :) Guys...I never said the woojin accusations were true- I was saying I they were it wouldn't matter🤡
to me, a problematic person is someone who makes mistakes and even tho they know it's wrong, they never learn and keep doing it over and over again, and SKZ are not like that. Yes, they made mistakes in the past, but they learned, apologized and never did it again, that's being human, not problematic...
Imma be honest with you, Seb. ALL Kpop idols have - at some point - been involved in a scandal about culture appropriation. Usually it is when they are not properly monitored / taken care of by their companies (aka when they are still young/rookies/overlooked), because the company doesn't do proper research for their clothes and just make them wear whatever is "hip" at the time. That is one of the reasons Stray Kids have been involved in this scandal too. But don't think they're the only ones. BTS, NCT, MAMAMOO, BLACKPINK, EXO, SHINEE - if you do enough digging, you'll see all of them at fault at some point. But the thing is, like Stray Kids, these idols soon APOLOGIZE and never repeat the same mistake. They are hardly problematic tbh. You're still getting to know the Kpop scene. Some actually problematic idols have actually done money laundering, illegal drug use, kidnapping, abuse to partners, even misuse of power. So yeah, I don't think Stray Kids or any other idol I mentioned above is problematic. TBH Korea, despite being "rich, well-educated, peaceful" is also ethnically homogenous and has always demonstrated trends that coincide with racial intolerance. It isn't surprising most groups have been in a racist scandal at least once. BUT: these groups apologize and realize their insensitivity. They never do it again either. Moreover, any appropriation was mostly done out of ignorance and is consequently taken care of with a lot of respect and a proper apology. That's why we can forgive them. So ya, it's up to you if u wanna stan SKZ or not. But they're hardly problematic tbh
I agree!! People need to know that Korea is very culturally reserved, conservative and dare I say it....kinda ignorant because they never mixed with foreign ppl....why do you think the South broke away from the North??? They are hard!!! Even on their own people, especially the older generation....I advise people to really read and watch the history of Korea....
This is purely an opinion but I do think that the concept of "cultural appropriation" is already pretty tricky in itself. It's too broad and may vary from culture to culture. For example, in my culture, when I see a foreigner wearing something related to our culture, I do not immediately think that they're being racist. Instead, I'll take it as a compliment, an appreciation, and be grateful with it. But if the INTENTION is to mock my people, then that for me is racism. Another thing, mainstreaming (got bigger because of the internet), where trends just pop out of no where, we sometimes do not even know if a particular trend perhaps originated from some culture. And, there's a lot of cultures in the world. I may even have been a racist at some point in my life for inappropriately doing something, a gesture maybe, or wearing something that has originated from another culture that I was ignorant of because I was from another side of the world. Note that this side also has too many cultures to be wary of. Which means, I have a lot on my plate and too many "cultural appropriation" to be wary of but it's fine cause I'm perfect and I don't make mistakes (sorry for a bit of sarcasm). And yes, we don't talk about Bruno.
I agree and skz hasn't done anything recently. Most of the things have been brought up from the past. And the thing is many non blacks use this as a excuse to hate on skz.
the thing about stray kids being “problematic” is that it’s a reductive statement that doesnt actually mean anything considering the state of the industry? most of the controversies that they may have been a part of center around cultural ignorance and appropriation (wearing cornrows or using a dance with a much deeper, more offensive meaning than previously realized) but (at the risk of sounding like i’m excusing them) almost all idol groups have done very similar things. i am also black, and have been into k-pop since 2013. trust me when i say it sucks to see an idol or someone you like make a comment about their fellow group member having “black” skin (my first group in 2014….) or seeing someone nonblack literally perm their hair until it’s 4c and put on a blaccent when speaking english (not naming any names bc i’m not trying to attack anyone). the severity of these offenses varies with whoever you ask, so feel free to form your own opinion about stray kids, but i just ask that you keep in mind that other groups have done similar things unfortunately
I agree!! Also I think it's important to note that Korea is verrrrrryyyyyyy reserved, conservative and for their own people and culture.....especially the older generations....so it is learned behavior as well...especially for those who lived in Korea only!! They are not used to foreign customs, or even mixing with foreign people....it only slightly increased in recent years.....so people need to actually do research on Korean views...their views are crazyyyy....and if you make a small mistake they will shame you.....and now this behavior has crossed over from Korean kpop fans to international fans....
it's so surreal to me how some people have labeled only skz as "problematic" when every single thing that they did was a long time ago, they apologized and learned from their mistakes and never did it again, while you have thousands of other groups doing problematic things every other day and not even getting 1% of the heat that skz does. someone problematic would be a person who constantly does offensive, problematic things without caring - and these boys have never repeated anything bad that they did. so no, I wouldn't call them problematic
Well I think the word "problematic" has lost its meaning thanks to kpop stans. They use sensitive topics for some people as a weapon in a fight between fandoms. I bet whoever told you they're problematic stans a group that did even worse shit lol. I hope you make your own research about the mistakes they did. :) I can confirm they did not repeat them though, that's why the word problematic is not appropriate to describe them. Gosh, I'm sick of hypocrites trying to make people hate skz all the while stanning groups like BTS, Blackpink, NCT etc. No hate to these groups, it's just that their fans who's forgiven them (some even without an apology) acting like Stray Kids are evil monsters or something annoys me so much...
Honestly Straykids aren't problematic. They are 8 different, funny genuine guys who love music. And most importantly, are entirely human. They have made mistakes as have we but I think it's important to note that they do acknowledge their mistakes and clearly take initiative to learn from them. I think it's time we separate being problematic and being human, because there is a gapping difference. But anyway I hope you like them, they're loud, odd balls with the most insane ideas and the biggest hearts, also they undoubtedly sincerely love their fans and their music.
First of all, thank you for doing a Stray Kids video. You should definitely look into more videos of funny moments or interviews, because they really do feel like a family and genuinely enjoy each others company. Secondly, there's a lot of misdirected hate towards Stray Kids and you should really watch them and make up your own mind. Woojin is not part of Stray Kid's anymore, and both Ot8 and Woojin fans I'm sure will prefer if you keep them in separate topics. These guys are really out here making their own music and changing what it means to be an idol, and Stay are very proud of them. Also, ignore positions (unless we're talking about 3racha and the leader). They all do everything with excellent proficiency. Once again, thank you for taking your time to watch a Skz guide and I hope it made you want to check them out, not only music wise but personality.
Cheers for this comments! It's saying alot without adding to much. Personaly as a 0T9 and 0T8 fan, I love to see the topic of Woojini in a positive way of course when it comes to SkZ comments always. I believe he was a good part of their past. So it's somthing that I feel should be known still, but too each their own. They really are all of those things and always have been. Twisting it and turning it any other way is what haters do best, but it also gives our talented boys somthing more to make hits about🤗 So if you can't be rid of the haters. Keep em coming🤙🏽
I'm kind of sick and tired of people saying the same old stuff about them talking about how "Problematic they are" because at this point you either like them or not and another thing stop believing every rumor you see on twitter or just anywhere in that matter there is a little thing called a fandom out there so why not just communicate with us stays rather than hearing it from another fandom who doesn't want you to get into another group that would be much helpful thanks.
I would also like to add something about the whole ageyo thing as well especially coming from me liking kpop for so long now but I feel like some of yall newer kpop fans have to understand that aegyo isn’t something made to be all that cringe as some of y’all make it to be. Like it’s not cringe when some idols actually enjoy doing it and you have to understand that it is a cultural thing as well so plz be respectful ain’t nobody forcing idols to do it because they can always decline not to do it as well. Like I’ve said some idols really enjoy acting all cute and then get embarrassed after doing it but at the end of the day they are the ones doing it and enjoying it.
As a Stay, l follow them for the music. If you want to form opinions based on past behaviours, then that is up to you. If you are looking for a perfect group, good luck finding one.
it’s up to you if you want to support them, they have done some things wrong but they have held themselves accountable unlike other idols, so that’s why I don’t get why they are the only ones being deemed as “problematic” especially when some of the idols are STILL being problematic… and at first i was really torn when i heard about their not so amazing past actions, but honestly they have owned up and apologized and never did anything like it again. that’s what matters to me. they grew. even good people make mistakes, what matters is how you grow after. you will soon notice that stray kids gets an insane amount of hate over every little thing, from the regular hate comments to people telling them to k1!! themselves, and many other things for being successful. and a good bit of the “controversial” actions are just people REACHING to bring them down. also woojin is a ex-member of stray kids, so his actions are not theirs. they are an amazing group of humans, who have learned from their mistakes to become a safe space for stays all around the world with their kind loving personalities, and their amazing music
Besides what everyone else who wrote in the comments about the "problematic" stuff which I won't comment on that (I'm way too old and seen way worse shit from boy groups the past 10+ years), I've started listening to these kids last year and they themselves seem pretty chill. What I wanted to say was actually in this past year they grew up and matured a lot, so seeing this guide not only there are a few old clips and a few incorrect things (for example little things like Channie was born in korea and moved to Australia when he was 1, not born in Aus as far as I know, and they misspelled Felix korean name) but also I've realized they've given us so much content in 1 year, wow. They are also very open about their struggles and specially Chan has talked about things in the industry that normal idols don't talk about so it's kind of refreshing.
Bruh I hate it when people say "oh stray kids is problematic" no they aren't they made mistakes yes but they also apologized for it and it was in the past (but people aka haters like to pick up old stuff to bring them down) Every group at this point has made mistake (I mean even BTS in the past, but they learned from it. Why can't other Idols better themselves before y'all try to cancel every one and at this point everything) And honestly Bang Chan is one of the most wholesome people I have ever met, he's so sweet always has good advice for us stays, he never puts himself first he always wants the members to have the spotlight... I don't understand how people can hate him honestly.
See? My point exactly. Everyone makes mistakes but the most important thing is that they learn from it. SKZ have admitted and apologized for there mistakes, I don't get why ppl still hate on them, like- we didn't force you to forgive them but at least respect their apologies and leave them alone /: Also I completely agree with what you said about channie, he's a pure soul that woukdn't harm anyone.
@@unique-q9o most of the things you're talking about are things they weren't aware they're racist otherwise I believe they wouldn't have done it. I'm not black so I can't decide wether we should forgive them but at least stop bringing it up when they regretted it and apologized.
@@unique-q9o everything they apologized for was years ago, and just got brought up thats why it seems like they continued with it but they didn't. Chan researched the meaning of a tattoo/symbol in on of his Vlive's to see if he could use it without offending anyone, he showed us that hes more careful now. In the end everyone decides for themselves if they wanna get to know them or not but i can surely say that they're the most genuine and kind people on this planet.
love your engagement with the guide 😂 i have 8 biases and 8 bias wreckers. i find it hard to just choose one. thank you for not being swept by the opinions of others regarding the kids without knowing the details. but at the same time, you can't fully trust the fandom to be unbiased unless you meet those who are objective about those issues. coz there are stays who just want to sweep it under the rug and deflect the problem by saying other groups were worse or keep babying the kids. while ofc, there are those who want the kids to own up to their mistakes. and by "wild", it kinda depends on how you perceive their actions. all i can say to assure you is, they DID own up to their mistakes. They heard the community and haven't repeated them. These kids are open to learning and have time and time again communicated with STAYs. that's what i love the most about them. the only problematic they can ever get is when people continue to weaponize their mistakes just to paint them in a bad light.
Yes I’m Stay and genuinely they are the only ppl That instantly made me want to become part of a fan group since I was ten and became a Rihanna navy forever in my life. So that took 12 years. Then they arrived and finally I was like “I need to support these guys rn cause the talent is outstanding” Stray kids are some of the sweetest souls out there in the industry tbh. I didn’t know them from the start cause of their than BTS I do not like K-pop so I never got into the problematic stuff but I do know for anything they were accused off in the past, either it was bullshit or either they apologized and they were also at the start when that happened. Tbh, every single singer did some fucked up shit if too young at the start of their career, every single one of them. Even BTS. Either that being problematic or just wrong, they apologized and grew from that. Also, I don’t think in stray kids you can pick a fave cause they are all too unique. Without one of them it wouldn’t be the same. You should support them more tbh
Foreals!☝️Coming form a black stay most of the stuff that were problematic were held accountable, minor or false. The real problematic things are the haters or people who judge too quickly. That's coming from a person who is tired of fake celebs & youtubers & B.S apologies. They have a tight bond and literally are some of the most genuine people I've came across. The respect and appreciation they have for their fans always blows my mind. They are genuinely so talented, versatile and always keeps things fresh
Bangchan is the reason why I'm staying single- I ain't being in a relationship till I find someone like him and I don't think I will cause he's one and only
The most problematic thing that happened was chan having corn rows. He didn't get to chose his hairstyle and as a kpop idol he just needs to let them do whatever he doesn't have a say. As well as the dance indecent well he was in front of many seniors and wasn't allowed to turn down dancing to the song as he was told to and respect to elders is a big thing in Korea and he was only a rookie. I can promise you the group isn't that problematic it's just antis and Twitter making it seem so. Felix got canceled for wearing a sombrero and saying feliz navidad so I mean. Most of our fandom isn't white and stays are aware of the past but the members always seem to apologize to everyone on their personal messaging app called bubble. Lee know was said to have "worn a durag" but you could tell it was just a bandana under a beret it's a style that's known in Korea but also in street fashion. Though it's not my place to force you into liking them if any of the things they did made you feel uncomfortable but in reality they didn't do much wrong and what they did wrong well the went against their companies rules and apologized but most importantly educated themselves and I really really admire them for that.
I saw a comment saying that chan replaced the n-word for "ninjas" in a song but the name "ninja" is actually the fandom name of 3Racha, he said in a song " i said ninjas fam, i think u misheard" because people thought he said the actual slur so he tried to clarify it with that, it could sound for some people a bit ignorant but im 1000% sure he was all goodhearted. BangChan and the whole skz are the kindest, purest people on this planet i can tell you that. the comments already explaining everything so im gonna stop here :) thank you for reacting to Straykids and i would love more reactions of them by you!! :) (sry english is not my first language)
I dont think stray kids are problematic personally. There have been many accusations in the past but many have been proven to be false. There is an ex member woojin who left in 2019 for personal reasons and now releases his own music. Many people assumed and accused him and the group of various issues however I'm pretty sure most (if not all) were false. They have been through so much as a group and even if the accusations against woojin are true, that shouldn't affect stray kids as he is no longer in the group. They are an amazing group thanks for reacting to them and I hope you continue to react to them!!!
I think there is a big difference between groups that are inherently "problematic" (like Super Junior) and groups that have "done something problematic". So many kpop fans weaponise real issues and pick and chose who they want to hold accountable and when. So many groups have been problematic at times due to a variety of reasons, I think it's very easy for Americans (I'm not American) to forget that South Korea is pretty much a homogenous conservative nation and that for a lot of cultural things, the rest of the world doesn't have that history or context. I'm not a person of colour but I am gay and have had to come to terms with groups I like (or idols I like) being or doing homophobic shit (not stray kids! this is just an example) and it's something that I think people in the affected communities individually have to come to terms with and decide whether they want to accept an apology or forgive or anything! I think most stays would never hold it against fans of colour who don't want to accept skz apologies or trust that they have changed (they have shown lots of growth in the past few years) because it is fully within their right to accept or not accept those apologies like full stop. A lot of idols never even apologise or change so I think the fact that skz hasn't shied away from anything like that says a lot about who they are as people. It is frustrating though seeing antis say "skz is problematic" as a way to discredit skz when their faves have done the same kind of stuff (like cultural appropriation) and often times way worse things. They aren't saying it to hold idols accountable (which we all should do) they're saying it as if these actual real issues are something to be weaponised in a fanwar which is fucking bullshit. It's even more frustrating when, for example, antis will bring up the stuff that Han said when he was a 13-year-old child and act as if it somehow holds MORE weight than the actions of grown adult men (their faves). In my opinion, whenever I'm getting into a new group and see comments about them being problematic, I always do my own research bc to some people being problematic could be as "small" as a set producer putting something inappropriate on a stage or as BIG as consistent intentional racist commentary. Like...a little bit of critical thinking can go a long way in kpop lol
All are focusing on “problematic” word from a man who doesn’t know anything and didn’t mean to be disrespectful. But no one talks about that cute hug and warm words. Thank you for that. I hope you won’t be upset. Love your energy.
New subscriber here! More Stray Kids please. All their music is amazing, they're self produced, so versatile and almost all their songs have meaning and substance, not the superficial stuff we hear in mainstream western music these days. And the raps! 🔥🔥🔥
I respect this guide a lot, I'm really thankful to the creator of the video, but I would have liked it if he reacted to one of the last ones that came out last year, and this year, they are longer, but it better describes the members and their talents and in itself about all group information. Anyway, thanks for the video. About the problem with Stray Kids that was mentioned at the beginning, they didn't get into any trouble, the member who left, Woojin, I don't know why it would be a conflict, he left peacefully for personal reasons, hence his path with the group breaks up, there is no problem with them. The other stuff... are things that happen when they were young, they have apologies and demonstrate they are and think different now. Everyone makes mistakes and the ones that are made at a young age... like, come on, if people apologies and reflect on their past actions, who can judge them?? Everyone makes mistakes.
Please don´t stop reacting to Stray Kids! They aren´t a problematic group in a way that they don´t spread any kind of negative thoughts over people and they apologized in advance for every single thing they did from culture ignorance! They literally only spread love no only to everyone but self-love and mental-health messages too! They have only been taggered by kpop antis and the media has taken advantage of that!! Obviouslly is up to you but they sincerelly only do music and NEVER tried to do bad to anyone in any sense! They even actively donate to several organizations individually and help lots of people and animals around the world... Thank you for your reaction and greetings from south america!!
I LOVE your vibe, thank you for the Stray Kids reaction!! they're my favorite group for a reason! personally I stan EVERYBODY lol...they make it too hard to pick a bias and I honestly love all 8 of them pretty equally. the way they love and support each other, plus the way they love and support their fans, is just amazing to me. and their talent and stage presence DEFINITELY has that "it factor" lol, they're incredible performers. the other comments have said pretty much everything you need to know about their mistakes/ignorance. the only thing I'll add is *most of that stuff happened either BEFORE their debut, or right near the start of it,* and they apologized when they were called out. so while those things were problematic and I don't wanna gloss them over, it doesn't seem to be an *ongoing pattern.* which is notable I think. Stray Kids has always been pretty open about the fact that they aren't perfect and had to learn and grow a lot as people, and *Chan has asked fans to hold them accountable if they do something wrong again.* so that's why I still feel okay supporting them...though it's totally valid if you or other people don't. sometimes kpop can be hard to navigate cuz sadly this stuff is so common, so there's no right or wrong way for you to feel about it. do whatever feels most comfortable for you ok? 🙏
They aren't problematic. They said some ignorant stuff, like all people have in their lives, when they were younger but gave sincere apologies for them. In my opinion whenever a kpop group starts blowing up people will find anything to try to tarnish their reputation. Stray Kids isn't the first group people have done it to not will they be the last group.
It’s funny how K-pop Stans only talk about skz when it comes to problematic stuff while there are groups way more problematic. Its just pick and chose for them, but anyway its good that you knew this before you start the journey.
I am a Stay because I generally enjoy their music and overall vibes despite their past transgressions. As far as my bias? I am Minsung biased (Lee Know and Han) I'm going to say that I'm a multi-stan of a few groups and Stray Kids is one of them. They have done things in their past that have been offensive but honestly nearly every group has, every person has at one point or another. It's being human and humans make mistakes. People living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and all that jazz. It's about learning from your mistakes. I'm aware some people will still choose to not support an idol/person/group for various reasons and that is their personal preference. It's up to each individual person to decide for themselves what they are willing to forgive or tolerate.
They did some problematic things but they apologized and took responsibility for their actions I really don't think they are that problematic. here are some things they did for your information, Chan wore cornrows. Hyunjin did blackface NOW he was dressing up as Korean character I genuinely think he didn’t realize what he was doing and Han said the n word on a rap he wrote when he was 13. but at this point almost all the idols did something problematic including bts, mamamoo, blackpink
and the rap Han wrote when he was 13 didn't actually HAVE the n-word in it from what I remember - it was actually a slur directed at working-class Malaysian ppl (I think), someone COMPARED it to the n-word, and then everyone assumed it WAS the n-word. doesn't change the fact that the lyrics were bad and shouldn't have been written, but it's important to have the facts straight about this stuff.
Wait what???? Problematic stuff???????? Just when are haters gonna leave the kids alone I've been a kpop stan for a bit over 10 years now and stanned a lot of groups and was a multi until Stray Kids debuted they're the most genuine humble idols artists I've ever seen in my life They just feel different whatever they put out there whether it's their music their content their shows their posts on insta or sns in general IT'S THEM them on camera is them off camera they're so genuine and honest with their fans with whatever they put out there because it's them who make it and that's their real personalities one of the sweetest human beings I've ever seen they really go out of their way breaking the company rules sometimes just to do smth we wanted them to do and make us happy their relationship with their fans is so wholesome and overwhelming how they treat us not as their fans but as their close friends they come to us for advice they tell us about their worries they help us with our worries they even nag us if we do something bad and advise us to do the right thing it's truly magical but unfortunately all they get for they genuinity and honesty is criticism and hate I dunno why they get the most hate out of all idols just for being themselves for breaking from that kpop stereotype and genuinely being themselves while making the music they want pursuing their dreams people just keep watching them and looking for the slightest detail just to hate on them and bring them down and they usually hate on them for no fcking reason or for smth they didn't really have a hand on like wearing some typa clothing or hairstyle (Which almost all idols have done that at some point) which is not even their choice they were just styled or dressed by the company staff every one does it but when skz does it it's a terrible crime and they get criticized for it so much to the point that it's unfair and that's what makes me angry and sad because I've been with them since before their debut and I've seen what they've been through and how much effort and hard work they've put on to achieve their goals and dreams little ambitious kids passionately pursuing their dreams but througout all that process they've been getting so much hate and criticism and were hurt so bad which breaks my heart seeing how pure and genuine their intentions are and how hard they work just like other kids who dream of becoming idols and I'm so proud to see them finally receiving the attention they deserve little by little and to see their hard work finally paying off Sorry for the long rant it's just really heartbreaking to see how their first impression reaches people as a problematic group image when they're just like any other idol group sweet humble kids working hard towards their dreams (I kinda teared up once or twice while writing this hihi but don't mind me)
The problematic things you mentioned were proven false. Former member Woojin left Stray Kids in 2019 for personal reasons which made quite a few fans upset and this led to the spread of rumors and allegations against him which have all been proven as false and now Woojin is doing his own solo music. A lot of people just jump on the he's guilty train without actually checking all facts, and If he had done anything like that I'd be the first to say ok he needs to be punished but as I said he is innocent. Many people like to just cut him out of stray kids as if he wasn't a member at all which is wrong because he was there from the beginning just like the other members.
I don’t think it’s really wrong to cut him out of skz content you know? It’s clear that skz want him out of their image and have since the beginning because we know whatever happened between them they don’t have the best relationship and skz and jype themselves are trying to cut him out so it’s respectful for both stray kids and woojin to keep them separate. Skz have made it obvious they are all about them being 8 and don’t like people saying otherwise so I think it’s better this way
Other things include the hyunjin thing last year & Chan with cornrows years ago. Also tell me if you agree but. . . I can't help but think that stz & woojin didn't talk things out personally & had miscommunication between their managers & jype. I don't think skz was like "cut him out of everything" but I hope they've talked it communicated since then and support each other
i’m a stay, they are my ultimate male groups i love them. Many people says they are problematic but i know them really well and they are beutiful people. My bias is Hyunjin, people says he was a bully but the scandal was fake. He is a pretty boy, inside and outside! Obv they are not perfect but they love their fandom and do pretty music! I hope you love them too.
Thanks for the reaction💕 even though this guide wasn't the best i must say...it's recent but they mostly used pretty old clips so i don't rlly see the point lol but i'm glad you liked it 🤗
This entire comment section has me shook. I'm so proud to be a STAY. I'm so proud to have Chan as my leader, and SKZ as my role models. 🥰 The maturity levels throughout all the comments are amazing. And these are not light topics to just be casually addressed, usually turning around into to hurt feelings and name calling and the like. But all I see is discussions, differences of opinions, and a lot of acceptance of the other's opinions. And I'd like to think that it is bc of SKZ. Chan has always told us to be kind and treat others well. He does this thru words and actions. The fandoms reflect the groups, and SKZ and STAYs are one of the most respectful ones. 🥰❤️🔥❤️
Main means it’s their focus and sub means they just help for those parts. Every Stray Kid member raps, sings and dances. Seugmin and IN are mainly vocalists and do rap the least but they can still do all of it really well. As you saw Bangchan the leader who was the first band leader who got to choose his group, he chose all the Stray Kids, composes and produces all their music with Changbin and Han. The other members will help with writing the lyrics and song composition as well. Basically they’re all on point all arounders. Double Knot, District 9, Easy, Victory Song, Hellavator, voices, side effects… the list goes on are amazing.
hey, I am from Australia and I just started getting into your videos, thankyou for saying that and not many idols are from Australia so the boys are doing us proud. Please keep sending them love and support
Great video. I really enjoyed your comments to the guide. As an aussie I can tell you that vegemite has a somewhat "unique" taste. There is no middle ground...you either love it or not. Felix is right though, with butter is definitely the best. Lots and lots of butter. :)
They made things they regret and have been actively trying to be better so i will honestly appreciate if you gave them a chance and formed your own opinion on them
i'm a fresh stay, felix was the one i noticed first but my bias is lee know and my bias wrecker is hyunjin. i don't love every song from them but what spoke to me the most is their personalities, they're just funny guys
If we use the word " problematic" then the whole kpop is, and unfortunately alot of haters used that as blame for them like words ( as black) and ignored that they were children and even ignorance like what racist can 14 years old can do.. Like how how you hate on that, literally they're the sweetest boy in kpop like there's no leader in kpop connect to his fans like bangchan and talk to them every week so please if you want to stand stray kids see there's actions not people words.
was waiting for this. i wanted to get into stray kids but i honestly wasnt feeling well but watching this with you makes it fun. lets become stay together!!
It's really hard to like a group when people and media influenced you first than knowing them. Especially when you loved a group and is trying to react to another but ain't ready to stan them, just reacting bcs the viewers told you to. I feel like that way but it's fine we all can express our opinions but not to the point where we just blab.
So here is my take on the whole problematic thing. I honestly what I do I don’t let those problems get in the way of if like ult a band or not. Stray kids are really awesome guys and I love there music. I even decided to give woojins music a listen and it’s actually really good. Wether the rumors are true or not I don’t know. I’m not in stray kids. I don’t work for stray kids so for me to say they are true or not I feel for me wouldn’t be right. And I wanted to give him a fair try because I think everyone deserves fairness. I come from this feeling because my ult group monsta x went through kind of a similar situation. As in they lost a member they had a ton of rumors because of whst was said and it came back not true. I feel it’s the same with stray kids. Wether the rumors of woojin are true or not I don’t know. But for me I felt like he’s not a part of stray kids. He’s separate so I gave him a chance and listen and his music is actually really good. It just all depends on how you want to go about it. If you want to like stray kids regardless then go for it. They are awesome no matter what. I’m always going to be a stay :) I’m so glad you did this guide. And I loved how you hugged your monitor back. That was adorable. Thank you for the guide week. I hope you do more in the future. I enjoyed it. So much.
I dk bout the word 'stan' it has bad orgins so it makes me uncomfy but I do support them. They did do problematic things in the past but that must have improved because I have not heard anything negative about the actions they have taken in the present time, since I started to follow their content at least. I think they are unlikely to be problematic on glaring issues in this point of their careers so I'd give um a chance. They seem decent as people and I recommend streetlights by changbin, red-light by hyunjin and bangchan, secret secret, cheese and Anysong as well as their kingdom Gods DU DU DU performance, side effects kingdom performance(their performances always melt my face so go into more kingdom if ya can.)
the other comments already covered it but sadly you should be aware that at this point every kpop group, yes even bts and any other possible group you can think of, have done problematic stuff in their careers whether is racism, colorism, sexism or bodyshaming, etc inrentional or not, the thing with stray kids is that they're becoming popular fast so other fandoms will maliciously bring out these things although skz have learnt and apologized because they see them as competition, these fans will talk about how problematic or bad skz are and at the same time will hide what their own fave groups have done, there's nothing wrong with liking stray kids, they are talented and very genuine, if you get to watch their content you know they never mean to hurt anyone and their "problematic" actions like wearing cornrows were from ignorance, although the member had no malice he received death threats for that and over 2 years later it's still a reason people mock his work and appearance, skz were used as a punching bag and a lot jumped on the hate bandwagon without realizing unfortunately, cultural sensitivity wasn't a big thing for a lot of groups
Mate us Aussies are the funniest people in the world because we are so straightforward and we do not give a shit about anything. Also with all the animals we just find them hilarious and just live with them. Sometimes we say things to scare people that are not from Australia or at least in the part of Australia that I live in which is in a country town between the really outback part of Australia and the city part of Australia (i live in Queensland by the way) and then they end up scared of the animals and then all of us Aussies just end up crying of laughter. our accent just makes us even funnier.
stray kids's "problematic" controversies are the controversies almost every other kpop group had. The bandwagon hate on these guys are just the trend nowadays
theres so much to learn about each member there honestly each incredible and funny and talented felix is my bias and the reason i became a stay but i am in love with all of them
I've really enjoyed your skz reactions and also have seen your reaction to iland if you still like to check out skz I'd recommend watching their survival show(i would claim it's the most interesting one because instead of the company choosing the members bangchan did and they have to work as a team to prove to the company that they can debut together you can also see them working on songs and making songs from scratch that's why I think it's a very unique survival show)
I appreciate your decision to keep watching their content despite beind told their “problematic”. I’ve been knowing these boys since the year they debuted and NO they are NOT “problematic”. I have never heard that before and honestly don’t want to know where it came from. The truth of the matter is that it depends on which side you hear from and how you choose to interpret it. For ppl who say they are problematic they are most likely taking their actions to distort their image. Like any person they are not perfect. They’ve made mistakes like many teens would when they were younger, had an sensitive hair style…etc. However, they are growing, maturing and most importantly they own up to their mistakes. Im not dismissing their wrongdoings but i am also not going to purposely misinterpret their words and actions now bc of one thing they did in the past. If they showed no sincerity and change from that, then yes I would say that’s a reason to say they are problematic but stray kids have never given us a reason to doubt them or their words and actions. I hope you continue to check them out and see for yourself who they really are and not misjudge based to what others tell you. The evidence is in their videos and content. So don’t worry bc they are a group you can trust. Stray kids take their slogan very seriously and the last thing they want is to hurt Stays and other people no matter who they are. That’s why they always say “ Stray kids everywhere all around the world. You make Stray Kids Stay.” Thank you so much for your reaction!
People will believe whatever they want to believe. I could debunk every situation SKZ got involved with but i think the best advise would be to look it all up and decide for yourself. Do not listen to what third person will say about them, good or bad and try to see them first hand. As for myself, i know they are good people and inspiration to many. I'm not saying this coz i'm a fan- i'am fan coz this is my truth with them.
I loved his reaction a lot I do wish though he choose a different guide video because this one was good but didn't do justice a better one i would recommend is called Straykids- World Domination Documentary, its a little long but you get a better understanding of the group and its really helpfull
Thank you so much for reacting to SKZ!!! I enjoyed this video a lot. Thank you for your kind words and that hug too. Other people in the comments have already said the stuff I wanted to say so, with that, I look forward to watching more SKZ content from you if you ever do plan to do more! They have a pretty diverse discography with 30+ genres if I’m not mistaken. I suggest taking a look at their B-sides, performance videos(especially year end award performances) and their SKZ-player and SKZ-records on TH-cam! 💕
The problematic things that Stray Kids have done, that I know of, personally don’t bother me. Han using the n-word in a song, and Chan doing the Jim Crow thing and the hair were all wrong, but they’ve both apologised and haven’t don’t anything like that since then. Plus, Han was 13 when he wrote the song (not saying age is an excuse), and Chan most likely just didn’t know those things were wrong. It’s been years since then, and they’ve shown growth, so labelling them as racist or problematic isn’t logical, in my opinion.
I’m a baby stay so the only drama I know of for sure was the false rumors about Hyunjin being a bully that almost got him kicked out of the group. For some reason fans of other groups like to make up rumors that can seriously harm a groups reputation and often can be career ending. They don’t’ like when one group is more popular than their group. But anyway that was all proven false and luckily Hyunjin is still in the group.
And your question about sub vs Lead, they don’t really have positions in the group bc they can all rap sing but some of them do one more often (Examples: Changbin and Han Rap the most because they are way too good at it, Seungmin and I.N stick mostly to singing bc they have some of the most angelic voices out there). That’s where the sub/lead comes in here. It really just depends on what vibe they want for each song.
Hyunjins allegations were as a result of koreas naver which is there google removing the trending section on the home page, a bunch of idols were accused around the same time and JYP took forever to address the issue so our hyunjin couldnt be on kingdom
@@mallory8669 oh thank you for explaining that to me! I wasn’t part of the fandom yet and I’m new to K-pop so I just went off of what my friend who introduced me to them had told me.
SHOUTOUT TO THE COMMENT SECTION!!! damn!! If people find out all my mistakes I've done when I was young or even in recent years... I would be the most cancelled person ever!!!! LMAOOOOO!!!!! Guess what? I learned from my mistakes and apologized...dont let that kpop thing pull you in!!! Research and form your own opinion....even if it's against the majority
Me as a stay I’m rlly happy with sky and Jeongin and I literally have the same birthday and me and Han have so much in common I’m in love with six their my fav K-pop group! 👍🏾👌🏾😊
Vegemite is good 👍 it has an umami, deep, and salty flavour. So you usually have it with toast, good amount of butter and a tiny, TINY bit of vegemite spread on top of it. It's not like Nutella spread. It's yummy to eat it like how Felix says (with butta 😆) Some of us Aussies can have a lot of it on bread, but it can be too much.
Main: the best in their field out of the group and get the most parts, for example most singing/rap lines or center parts in choreography Lead: right after the main with their abilities and responsible for a significant part of singing/rapping Sub: Usually not their main field but occasionally get’s raps/vocal parts even tho it’s not what they focus on (I don’t really see this used for dancers tbh but u get the gist) I’m sorry if this was worded weirdly english is only my third language😅
pretty much every single group has done problematic things, including skz. they should be held accountable of course, but theres an unfortunately a LOT of skz antis so you hear about them being "problematic" more often than other groups. a lot of people don't actually care about that stuff (which like. they should actually) and just use it to try and cancel them or whatever if you want unbiased (well, less biased) info on the controversies id look on reddit rather than twitter because people on twitter are... yeah
2:27 - Lmao literally the same thing what I wanted to tell all Australians, like they're so brave with so many scary insects like big spiders and other dangerous animals in their country. They have my whole heart and respect
Ok so as far as I’m aware they have about 4 scandals that might affect whether you feel comfortable continuing interacting with them. 1.) Chan did cornrows at one point years ago 2.) Han said some really ignorant shit in a rap including the n word and some shit about fat people and mentally ill people when he was 13 3.) hyunjin dressed up as a cartoon from korea that used a lot of blackface stereotypes 4.) Chan did the Jim Crow pose from this is America. They have apologized for all of the instances and have shown that they can be better. It’s definitely not my place to say whether or not black fans forgive them or accept their apologies and it’s totally up to each person whether or not they choose to do that. I will say that at this point in time it’s really hard to find a group that hasn’t done something problematic in the past. At this point it feels like every single group has done something problematic and I'm not saying "oh what skz did was ok cuz other groups did it too" No. Absolutely not but they have apologized for it and to me it seemed very sincere. They have also learned from their mistakes and Chan espacially often talks about how we (skz, stays and fans in general) should always be respectful to others because no matter who we are, who we love or what color our skin is we all deserve respect and love. People who hate on skz for no other reason than just because they don't like them or their music are the toxic stans that always pick and choose who to hate on and then go and turn a blind eye on their faves and their mistakes.
"We, Straykids, do not support any racism in any form and matter" - BangChan 2021
To me it's this simple - even if the cartoon has racist undertones - Hyunjin didn't know - and he apologised when it was pointed out

The toxic in the industry isn’t residing in the Stray Kids fam at all. NOT IN THE GUYS, NOT IN OUR FANDOM, NOR IN THEIR LABEL. There are far way more act that are literally a bank for money and exploited in any single way.

This is the best explanation In this comment section I've seen!!!!
@@marsmarch4467 I agree with everything in this comment. That’s actually pretty much how I feel about this🤔👏🏻
I agree and skz hasn't done anything recently.
Agreed!
I agree!! Also I think it's important to note that Korea is verrrrrryyyyyyy reserved, conservative and for their own people and culture.....especially the older generations....so it is learned behavior as well...especially for those who lived in Korea only!! They are not used to foreign customs, or even mixing with foreign people....it only slightly increased in recent years.....so people need to actually do research on Korean views...their views are crazyyyy....and if you make a small mistake they will shame you.....and now this behavior has crossed over from Korean kpop fans to international fans....
it's so surreal to me how some people have labeled only skz as "problematic" when every single thing that they did was a long time ago, they apologized and learned from their mistakes and never did it again, while you have thousands of other groups doing problematic things every other day and not even getting 1% of the heat that skz does.
someone problematic would be a person who constantly does offensive, problematic things without caring - and these boys have never repeated anything bad that they did. so no, I wouldn't call them problematic
they are labeled as problematic BECAUSE they apologized. because other groups bury their sins and pretend they never happened.
Omg thank you for saying this they apologized everyone else arguing
Pretty much summed what I wanted to say :)
If you are looking for a perfect group, good luck finding one.
it’s up to you if you want to support them, they have done some things wrong but they have held themselves accountable unlike other idols, so that’s why I don’t get why they are the only ones being deemed as “problematic” especially when some of the idols are STILL being problematic… and at first i was really torn when i heard about their not so amazing past actions, but honestly they have owned up and apologized and never did anything like it again. that’s what matters to me. they grew. even good people make mistakes, what matters is how you grow after. you will soon notice that stray kids gets an insane amount of hate over every little thing, from the regular hate comments to people telling them to k1!! themselves, and many other things for being successful.
and a good bit of the “controversial” actions are just people REACHING to bring them down. also woojin is a ex-member of stray kids, so his actions are not theirs. they are an amazing group of humans, who have learned from their mistakes to become a safe space for stays all around the world with their kind loving personalities, and their amazing music
seeing you hug the monitor was so cute! chan would be happy cuz when guests appear on his v lives he asks if they will hug the screen like he does too
Besides what everyone else who wrote in the comments about the "problematic" stuff which I won't comment on that (I'm way too old and seen way worse shit from boy groups the past 10+ years), I've started listening to these kids last year and they themselves seem pretty chill.
Exactly
Bruh I hate it when people say "oh stray kids is problematic" no they aren't they made mistakes yes but they also apologized for it and it was in the past (but people aka haters like to pick up old stuff to bring them down) Every group at this point has made mistake (I mean even BTS in the past, but they learned from it. Why can't other Idols better themselves before y'all try to cancel every one and at this point everything)
And honestly Bang Chan is one of the most wholesome people I have ever met, he's so sweet always has good advice for us stays, he never puts himself first he always wants the members to have the spotlight... I don't understand how people can hate him honestly.
See? My point exactly. Everyone makes mistakes but the most important thing is that they learn from it. SKZ have admitted and apologized for there mistakes, I don't get why ppl still hate on them, like- we didn't force you to forgive them but at least respect their apologies and leave them alone /:
Also I completely agree with what you said about channie, he's a pure soul that woukdn't harm anyone.
Mamamoofication of stray kids 😩
So being racist and apologizing but then doing it again is okay and a mistake and in the past?
Then they arrived and finally I was like “I need to support these guys rn cause the talent is outstanding”
Stray kids are some of the sweetest souls out there in the industry tbh.
Bangchan is the reason why I'm staying single- I ain't being in a relationship till I find someone like him and I don't think I will cause he's one and only
im a straight guy but bang chan is the one man i am head over heels for in every possible way lmao, dude's so admirable
@@alisaeed3090 literally he's so perfect like HOW!!!!
No I literally feel the exact same way, and I usually hate parasocial relationships but he's really made my standards extremely high.
BangChan and the whole skz are the kindest, purest people on this planet i can tell you that.
the comments already explaining everything so im gonna stop here :)
thank you for reacting to Straykids and i would love more reactions of them by you!! :)
(sry english is not my first language)
Its just pick and chose for them, but anyway its good that you knew this before you start the journey.
as a stay, i looove watching people reacting to stray kids! 😭
I am a Stay because I generally enjoy their music and overall vibes despite their past transgressions. As far as my bias? I am Minsung biased (Lee Know and Han)
I'm going to say that I'm a multi-stan of a few groups and Stray Kids is one of them.
@@Dearheart42 He said it
Wait what???? Problematic stuff???????? Just when are haters gonna leave the kids alone
I've been a kpop stan for a bit over 10 years now and stanned a lot of groups and was a multi until Stray Kids debuted they're the most genuine humble idols artists I've ever seen in my life
They just feel different whatever they put out there whether it's their music their content their shows their posts on insta or sns in general IT'S THEM them on camera is them off camera they're so genuine and honest with their fans with whatever they put out there because it's them who make it and that's their real personalities one of the sweetest human beings I've ever seen they really go out of their way breaking the company rules sometimes just to do smth we wanted them to do and make us happy their relationship with their fans is so wholesome and overwhelming how they treat us not as their fans but as their close friends they come to us for advice they tell us about their worries they help us with our worries they even nag us if we do something bad and advise us to do the right thing it's truly magical but unfortunately all they get for they genuinity and honesty is criticism and hate I dunno why they get the most hate out of all idols just for being themselves for breaking from that kpop stereotype and genuinely being themselves while making the music they want pursuing their dreams people just keep watching them and looking for the slightest detail just to hate on them and bring them down and they usually hate on them for no fcking reason or for smth they didn't really have a hand on like wearing some typa clothing or hairstyle (Which almost all idols have done that at some point) which is not even their choice they were just styled or dressed by the company staff every one does it but when skz does it it's a terrible crime and they get criticized for it so much to the point that it's unfair and that's what makes me angry and sad because I've been with them since before their debut and I've seen what they've been through and how much effort and hard work they've put on to achieve their goals and dreams little ambitious kids passionately pursuing their dreams but througout all that process they've been getting so much hate and criticism and were hurt so bad which breaks my heart seeing how pure and genuine their intentions are and how hard they work just like other kids who dream of becoming idols and I'm so proud to see them finally receiving the attention they deserve little by little and to see their hard work finally paying off
Sorry for the long rant it's just really heartbreaking to see how their first impression reaches people as a problematic group image when they're just like any other idol group sweet humble kids working hard towards their dreams (I kinda teared up once or twice while writing this hihi but don't mind me)
The problematic things you mentioned were proven false.
I'm a 2/3 months old Stay. Chris is my bias. They are definitely worth to Stan. Their discography is everything.
Changbin is honestly the king of varied flows and it’s so fucking good!!!
The maturity levels throughout all the comments are amazing.
you should definitely check out “how to take care of stray kids: a guide by bang chan” it’s SO cute
Stray kids is not problematic and all the things that happened, happened 3years ago and has already been proven to be false
They made things they regret and have been actively trying to be better so i will honestly appreciate if you gave them a chance and formed your own opinion on them
I love stray kids. you nice, keep going. they're great and funny and crackheads in the best way possible. the music is sooooo good.
i'm a fresh stay, felix was the one i noticed first but my bias is lee know and my bias wrecker is hyunjin. i don't love every song from them but what spoke to me the most is their personalities, they're just funny guys
I love your vibe and energy you express. Your way of speaking is so UNtoxic and refreshing.
Also I love the length of your videos 🖤
It's really hard to like a group when people and media influenced you first than knowing them. Especially when you loved a group and is trying to react to another but ain't ready to stan them, just reacting bcs the viewers told you to. I feel like that way but it's fine we all can express our opinions but not to the point where we just blab.
7:23 These captions always crack me up! 9:39 And does anyone else see someone behind Changbin, hugging his stomach?
i just found your account and i'm so glad, you bring so much personality into the reactions
When you face dropped when that clip of Felix started 🤣
So much.
You appeared in recommended and I love your reactions!
We all love Felix ❤️
fun fact: lee know was a backup dancer to BTS (2016-17)
I dk bout the word 'stan' it has bad orgins so it makes me uncomfy but I do support them. They did do problematic things in the past but that must have improved because I have not heard anything negative about the actions they have taken in the present time, since I started to follow their content at least. I think they are unlikely to be problematic on glaring issues in this point of their careers so I'd give um a chance. They seem decent as people and I recommend streetlights by changbin, red-light by hyunjin and bangchan, secret secret, cheese and Anysong as well as their kingdom Gods DU DU DU performance, side effects kingdom performance(their performances always melt my face so go into more kingdom if ya can.)
the other comments already covered it but sadly you should be aware that at this point every kpop group, yes even bts and any other possible group you can think of, have done problematic stuff in their careers whether is racism, colorism, sexism or bodyshaming, etc inrentional or not, the thing with stray kids is that they're becoming popular fast so other fandoms will maliciously bring out these things although skz have learnt and apologized because they see them as competition, these fans will talk about how problematic or bad skz are and at the same time will hide what their own fave groups have done, there's nothing wrong with liking stray kids, they are talented and very genuine, if you get to watch their content you know they never mean to hurt anyone and their "problematic" actions like wearing cornrows were from ignorance, although the member had no malice he received death threats for that and over 2 years later it's still a reason people mock his work and appearance, skz were used as a punching bag and a lot jumped on the hate bandwagon without realizing unfortunately, cultural sensitivity wasn't a big thing for a lot of groups
but most of em have learned and never repeated it again and I RESPECT THAT!
We love you too. Thanks for reacting to Stray Kids. STRAAYYAAABABY 🇦🇺
stray kids's "problematic" controversies are the controversies almost every other kpop group had.
The bandwagon hate on these guys are just the trend nowadays
theres so much to learn about each member there honestly each incredible and funny and talented felix is my bias and the reason i became a stay but i am in love with all of them
I've really enjoyed your skz reactions and also have seen your reaction to iland if you still like to check out skz I'd recommend watching their survival show(i would claim it's the most interesting one because instead of the company choosing the members bangchan did and they have to work as a team to prove to the company that they can debut together you can also see them working on songs and making songs from scratch that's why I think it's a very unique survival show)
Were can i watch it and how.
Thank you for the reactions!! I enjoyed it! Hoping for more Stray Kids reactions!!
STRAYKIDS WORLD DOMINATION🔥👑
The problematic things that Stray Kids have done, that I know of, personally don’t bother me. Han using the n-word in a song, and Chan doing the Jim Crow thing and the hair were all wrong, but they’ve both apologised and haven’t don’t anything like that since then. Plus, Han was 13 when he wrote the song (not saying age is an excuse), and Chan most likely just didn’t know those things were wrong. It’s been years since then, and they’ve shown growth, so labelling them as racist or problematic isn’t logical, in my opinion.
I’m an Aussie! I subscribed to you. I’m from Sydney Australia. Nice to meet you mate :)
STAN SKZ , ITS WORTH IT
THEY ARE ONE OF THE BEST , PERIOD
Omg exactly like they aren't human too? They all apologized and learned
It's yummy to eat it like how Felix says (with butta 😆) Some of us Aussies can have a lot of it on bread, but it can be too much.
must say i'm in love with Felix :) but every since Christmas evel i've liked I.N as well
Me : * drinking soup * I be looking and sound like a boar 🐗. And look at Han looking like a freakin adorable squirrel 🐿
Main: the best in their field out of the group and get the most parts, for example most singing/rap lines or center parts in choreography
Lead: right after the main with their abilities and responsible for a significant part of singing/rapping
Sub: Usually not their main field but occasionally get’s raps/vocal parts even tho it’s not what they focus on (I don’t really see this used for dancers tbh but u get the gist)
I’m sorry if this was worded weirdly english is only my third language😅
why is skz the only group that have this intro? i mean u made videos about mamamoo, bts, bp, nct and never talked about how problematic they are lmao
pretty much every single group has done problematic things, including skz. they should be held accountable of course, but theres an unfortunately a LOT of skz antis so you hear about them being "problematic" more often than other groups. a lot of people don't actually care about that stuff (which like. they should actually) and just use it to try and cancel them or whatever
if you want unbiased (well, less biased) info on the controversies id look on reddit rather than twitter because people on twitter are... yeah

Lmao literally the same thing what I wanted to tell all Australians, like they're so brave with so many scary insects like big spiders and other dangerous animals in their country.
If you want some more information I’m happy to help although I’m not the most well versed in the subject.
I died when he started choking after looking at Chan’s arms and when he said ‘he strong as hell’ I was like wait till u meet Changbin my boy 😫
who tf said that they are involved with problamatic stuff?? ugh I hate when things like false rumors go around
they arent false tho

STRAYKIDS ARE THE MOST GENUINE ARTISTS I HAVE EVER KNOWN!! IF I HAVE TO WRITE ABOUT THIS BEAUTIFUL SOULS THEN I CAN LITERALLY WRITE A BOOK ON THEM.! SAD THING IS THAT HATERS AND TOXIC PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR KIND AND GENEROUS NATURE AND OF THEIR FANDOM , THAT THEY WILL MAKE UP ANY NONSENSE SH*T STORIES AND SPREAD EVERYWHERE. STRAYKIDS AND FELLOW STAYS CAN'T EDUCATE EVERYONE, HENCE ITS PEOPLE'S DUTY TO FIRST CHECK THE ORIGINALITY OF THE FACT AND BELIEVE ONLY ON THEMSELVES NOT OTHERS..
THOSE RUMOURS ARE DEFINELTY FALSE! CUZ MOST OF THAT WERE EITHER FALSELY MADE UP OR FALSELY THROWN ON THE MEMBERS WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEDGE!! EXAMPLE:
1. HYUNJIN PART- HE JUST WORE A KOREAN CARTOON COSTUME, HE DIDN'T KNEW HATERS WILL TAKE A COMPLETE U-TURN AND MISINTEREPRET THE SITUATION LIKE THAT.. HIS BULLYING CASE- HE WAS PROVEN INNOCENT.
2. WOOJIN PART- HE LEFT DUE TO HIS PERSONAL REASONS AND HENCE NO MORE A PART OF STRAYKIDS. SKZ ARE OT8 NOW.
3.HAN PART- YEAH HE MADE A SONG LIKE THAT BUT HE WAS 13 YEARS OLD THAT TIME. HE WAS NOT EDUCATED ABOUT RACISIM. BUT WHEN HE BECAME MATURED , HE LEARNED FROM HIS MISTAKES AND NEVER EVER REPEATED IT AGAIN!!
4. BANGCHAN HAIR BRAIDING PART!! IT WAS JUST A HAIRSTYLE. AND ITS NOT WRITTEN ANYWHERE THAT BRAIDED HAIR ORIGINATED FROM AFRICA!! MANY PEOPLE ACROSS THE WORLD DOES BRAIDING. BUT HATERS AGAIN MISINTERPRETED IT AND SPREAD SOO MUCH FALSE INFORMATION EVERYWHERE.
HENCE I CAN ONLY SAY THAT HATERS OUT THERE , ONLY damage the information, MISLEAD THE NEW BABY STAYS OR TO BE STAYS OUT THERE AND SPREAD TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF HATRED AND TOXICITY REGARDING STRAYKIDS!! THIS ALL BECAUSE EITHER THEY ARE TOXIC OR BECUSE THEY CAN'T DIGEST THE FACT THAT STRAYKIDS ARE WAY BETTER THAN THEIR FAVS!!
ACTUALLY NOT ONLY STRAYKIDS , EVEN BTS HAVE FACED A LOT LIKE THIS!!!
HENCE PLEASE DON'T BELIEVE IN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU ALL CHECK EVERYTHING BY YOURSELF!!!!
THESE HUMAN BEINGS ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOULS IN THIS DEVIL MALICIOUS WORLD!!
@@SKZBTS24its not nonsense lmao. stop defending your favs when they fuck up how about you try to educate them before just saying that everything they've done is nonsense just isn't right. those are grown men and each time they do fuck up people try to educate them and id understand more if they did educate themselves but they didn't because the same things are still happening with no apology. chan wore cornrows, educate him instead of just saying that its just a hair style when its not, it goes beyond a fucking hairstyle. hyunjin did bf stop using some lame ass excuse to try to deny that when we all know it wasn't based on no damn character. - a blk person
@@SKZBTS24 go outside and touch some grass if youre deadass losing your morals due to 8 korean men that dont gaf about you. get it together.
I stan Changbin. He's my favorite 4th gen idol of all time.
Mino was also a backup dancer for bts on their wings tour
