If anyone can restore this garden to it's former glory, it's you Martin, you really care about plants and obviously love what you do. What a fantastic job you're doing.
Martin, now that you’ve brought the garden back to its bones, I’m sure it can be restored. It will take a lot of attention, time and/or money by the new owners. I’m hope Wa can see it back it it’s full glory!
Вы, как настоящий рыцарь в доспехах и с волшебным мечом, освобождаете лес от злых чар. Представляю с каким облегчением вздохнули освобождённые из плена деревья. Обожаю ваши истории! 💝
Can't wait to see what Spring brings. Everything will be so refreshed and pushing so much new growth now that it's been trimmed, freed from the ivy chokehold, and getting light now. You are truly bringing a beautiful property back to life!
I have loved watching this journey transforming this beautiful property back to its former glory. I love history and I love seeing pictures of how places looked before. Thankyou for taking us all on this beautiful transformation. You have done a fantastic job ❤
Greetings Cowboy! Another fantastic shift at the historical gardens, and boy! what a difference a day makes. 🤩The poor shrubs have been screaming for Martin the Ivy Slayer to unshackle them. Letting more light in and air circulation will certainly do them good. They can breathe and you can see the bones so much better. You are a miracle worker, for sure. I love seeing the old photos so very much! Wonderful video as always. Hope you are enjoying SOME of the holiday. Blessings always, from good ole PNW, Washington State.💛🖤💛 Stacy
Good day Martin! It has been very nice to see all the improvements you have made to this property. I look forward to seeing each section as it is transformed. Today is Sunday and we woke up to snow; it was so pretty on the trees, bushes, and houses. This is the first snow here in the little town where I live.😊. Last week, my husband and I used the blower and rake to round up all the leaves in our yard. We filled 9 lawn bags! 😮😂. Take care and have a very blessed week! Sincerely, Diane from Missouri 😊
another hard day's work - but, oh, the reward !!! I've so enjoyed tagging along on this journey with you - uncovering what was once a beautiful garden and knowing it will be again one day soon. It's already experienced a wonderful transformation/restoration!!! Well Done 😎
I planted English ivy once. Learned my lesson pretty quickly. That stuff is incredibly invasive. I’m sure that entire garden is breathing a sigh of relief.
Looks a bit like honeysuckle. Glad you found your blade! Martin, I believe that garden will look better than it does in the old photos when you’re done!
So good to see some of the trees no longer being strangled by ivy! Fun to see what if was in its former glory. Im sure you can get it back in shape! 💚💚💚
Martin you meticulously work your way through an ivy tangled area and once you are finished it looks so very nice! I know without a doubt that you will have this centuries old garden tamed and looking beautiful in grass when warm weather returns! When I found your channel, I was sure you were a Master gardener, you said no, but I still see that in you! 👏 Your “I’m not Bono” was a good one! I got a chuckle from you! 😄 I see the weather pattern ya’ll got has melted, glad you were able to get out in the garden again. Enjoyed seeing the ivy taken from the tree trunks. I heard them in Texas go awwww! 😊 I’m not sure of the plant you ask us if we knew, I guessed a Jasmine. 🤷♀️ Have a good week! 💚 from Texas
I watch a few different lawn transformation videos and you are by far my favourite. I love your sense of humour. You work very hard and bring dull, lifeless gardens back to their former glory. I can’t wait to see what this garden looks like in the spring.😊
So glad you found the Oregon blade you wanted in the truck!! 😊 Now you can show the Ivy who's boss. Watching you work is so motivating. It's a big job, but you're tackling it bit by bit and have made incredible progress.
Yayy - I wait for every new episode about this garden. I know that wealthy manor houses in past centuries had very formal gardens (they were a status symbol). I wish someone had done a drawing/painting of the house/garden in the 18th century! All the way to Canada I could hear the trees singing "Unchained Melody". You're doing such a fantastic job and each episodes results are terrific!
That’s Herculean task you’ve performed there Martin. I have great faith in you getting that garden back to its former glory. Was the climbing plant a honeysuckle?
I'm SO enjoying this series - my favourite on YT right now. You are doing such a fabulous job of restoration. If only I were 50 years younger and not 12,000 miles away in Melbourne, Aus, I'd love to be in there helping! Loved seeing how the garden looked decades ago - so pretty. Haven't read through all the comments yet to see if anyone else identified it, but was the mystery plant a climbing rose?? (oops, I see I was wrong)
I live in Florida, USA, and we don't have ivy here. Instead, we have Kudzu, another invasive plant. It can grow a foot a day, and the roots spread everywhere. The good news is, it's not poisonous, and if you have a goat, they'll clean it all up for you. It smells like cooking cabbage if you break the vines or leaves. I really enjoy watching your videos, especially when you talk about the plants.
The episodes I've been waiting for...ivy removal! 🥳 I'm sure those trees are happy to be free of ivy suffocation. It's making the garden look a lot more polished. I look forward to seeing more ivy removal. Great job!
That climber looks like CLEMATIS! I have 2 in my garden. They are lovely. I so enjoy your work and your sense of humor and can’t wait to see grass growing in this garden.
Very close, guess 👍 this is a honeysuckle. They look quite similar, especially when they are this mature 😅 I'm really looking forward to spring as well, once the grass seed goes down and it starts to grow and get mowed regularly, this should finally start making the place look great again 🤞 I also hope some of the flower bulbs have survived.
Yes Martin grass would look beautiful again& restore the garden back to its former glory It's looking good now.As regards the quiz I think this is a rambling or climbing rose?If it is the hair cut along with the other shrubs will all be rejuvinated& look beautiful when spring comes again.😊😊😊
After what you had to face in this garden it’s a absolute miracle that you have got as far as you have ,such a tremendous amount of work involved it’s already come to life so can’t wait to see what you achieve as you work on , well done you ❤
Haha, thank you 😅 you've obviously been with me since the first video 😊 I can barely remember what it looked like myself anymore 😂 Part of me is looking forward to spring, but another part is dreading how quickly this place will start to grow. Thanks for watching 👍 🙏☺️
It is really looking good. It felt like each tree and shrub you cleared was a heroic rescue. 😊 It is already starting to look like the old pictures. Well done my friend, well done. Appreciated the Bono joke. Lol. Stay safe.
Martin, so happy to see you back on this property. But listen, you need to be very careful out there because I think now that you’ve allowed the trees to start breathing again they’re gonna be trying to hug you!!😂 And yes, I believe “we” Will be able to bring back the beauty of this place. Excellent job! God bless you and your family!❤️🙏😎
Haha, when I read the "be very careful " but I wasn't expecting you to say that 😂 I'd be OK with a hug from a tree 😂 it's supposed to be quite beneficial for ones mental health. Although I'd love to see the science behind that theory 😅 Thanks for the awesome comment. Much appreciated.
@smb7984 What a great comment! 😁 I read be careful out there and my mind started wondering what critters would be in woodlands now. When I read the trees hugging him, I smiled so big, wonderful thought! Blessings to you!
Now this garden rescue get's into the final round! And it will be so nice i guess! The next spring will show you great results!! In Germany now the weather is good also. I'd love to have it as well 😊👍 I could work it into something amazing. I'm also a big fan of outbuildings 😅 I've no idea what I'd do with them, but I want them anyway, haha.
Hey Martin, I enjoy your videos. Congrats on your dedication to the gardens. I can’t tell, however if you’re willing, please consider wearing hearing protection especially with the leaf blower. Warm regards
Great work 👍🌟⭐️🌟 My partner and I are just working on the Isle of Man ( thatching an old cottage with marram grass). I’ve never seen so many trees overgrown with ivy… some of them look like ivy trees 🤣
Hola martin. Compré el cuchillo !!!! Es maravilloso, muele todo. A diferencia de ti, yo dejo las hojas y pasto molido para proteger el suelo. Saludos desde chile.
I thought the plant was clematis, but I read in preveous reactions that is not right 😮💨 You did an excellent job once again! The garden is coming back to its old form. Thank you Martin!
I was 100% sure it was a honeysuckle, I'm now only 99% sure! 😅 I'll be writing lots of apology comments if that plant suddenly sprouts clematis flowers next year 😂
Martin you could easily get it restored if you had the time. I’m not sure, however, that you would have enough time for that. But you always do excellent work!
It's a Honeysuckle 👍😊 although it's pretty hard to tell as it's a giant one thats hardly had any leaf left. Although it's survived, I'll need something for it to grow up 😂
I'm glad you kept that tree stump under the elder. A perfect place to sit and do some tree bathing. I look at this garden and cant help but think that an owner in the past used to just cut trees to ground level when the got too tall, resulting in the coppiced growth pattern. Such a shame they couldnt have more sensitively been pruned back then. A wonderful transformation though and some beautiful leaf mould produced in the process
Hi Martin, If anyone can bring this garden back its you...Ive been binge watching your older videos, the transformations are amazing. You definately have a green thumb x10...lol..I hope you have a great weekend Stay Safe, from your Tassie Watcher ❤️🙏👍🤗
Another excellent video showing your dedication to reviving that woodland, I watched another TH-camr Chris Rowland who rescued a similar size area and he treated the ivy like you are and it worked really well. I have every confidence that your woodland area will look amazing this time next year (probably before then!). Drone footage gives a great perspective of what you’re dealing with, assuming you don’t crash of course! Keep up the wonderful work 🌴🌺🌹
Haha 😂 I did. I actually crashed it. Into the tall Birch tree. It was so windy 😅 fortunately the drone survived. I'm glad you liked it, thank you. It's actually quite useful for me as well, to see that perspective as well. It's also a heck of a lot of fun 😁 Thanks again for watching. Much appreciated. Martin
I'm guessing that plant is a Lonicera periclymenum aka Honeysuckle. Not sure what variety without seeing the flowers, but they can grow as shrubs or vines. It must smell delightful when it's in bloom! Another fantastic tidy up! I love that Oregon blade. Very satisfying to watch!
When the new growth gets going on the ivy, that’s the time to spray it. Before it turns dark and shiny. There will still be random sprouts though, buts it’s pretty easy to stay on top of it after the huge beds are killed off🇺🇸
You can get the same result by just keeping on top of it by continually pulling off bits that grow. Eventually the plant will weaken and die. It saves using toxic and carcinogenic chemicals. But then I am an organic gardener in the uk 😂
Yeah, this is true. I don't "spray" anything in a garden unless it's a hosepipe or watering can 😂 I prefer the hard work method 🙏🤞 although I say hard work, it actually pretty straightforward.
If anyone can restore this garden to it's former glory, it's you Martin, you really care about plants and obviously love what you do. What a fantastic job you're doing.
Thank you 😊 🙏
How could I possibly fail with you guys supporting me 😊
Martin, all of your hard work will get the garden looking like it did 30 years ago. Martin that mulching blade does a great job.
Martin, now that you’ve brought the garden back to its bones, I’m sure it can be restored. It will take a lot of attention, time and/or money by the new owners. I’m hope Wa can see it back it it’s full glory!

Really enjoying watching you bring this garden back to life. I can’t wait to see it in the Spring. You are doing an amazing job.

Oh, you guys are awesome 😊👍🙏 thank you.
@Sweetencourager21
I, too, enjoy Martin’s sense of humor. It sneaks up on me and then I am totally amused! 😊
I have faith in you, Martin. It’s going to look smashing by the time you’re done.
what a battle! martin vs the never ending ivy

Martin, Your work ethic is amazing. At the rate your going this garden should be in prime condition by next spring. You just go,go,go.👏👏

Gosh Martin what a gardener you are, it’s looking so nice you really are bring it back to life, can’t wait for next video ❤❤. Pauline. Wiltshire
Another great job Martin. Pulling ivy off trees looks as satisfying as wallpaper stripping, especially when you get a really long piece!
Haha, definitely 😅 it's highly satisfying. Also, very annoying sometimes when you get a tiny bit that won't budge! 😂

Brilliant work Martin! I can’t wait to see this garden in Spring and Summer.

Its coming along lovely. A lot of work squeezed into this episode too. Keep up the great work!

Looks like wisteria. You are doing a beautiful job.
What a wonderful clear up that was. Cannot wait to see that garden covered in snow. Please do some aerial shots in winter.
If it snows again, I certainly will do 😅 I tried last time, but it melted far too quickly.

It’s looking good 😊
When the new growth gets going on the ivy, that’s the time to spray it.
@ really? I didn’t know that. Thanks
Yeah, this is true. I don't "spray" anything in a garden unless it's a hosepipe or watering can 😂
I prefer the hard work method 🙏🤞 although I say hard work, it actually pretty straightforward.
@@martinthegardenguy I thought it was unkillable. Is that a word 🤣🇺🇸
Nothing is unkillable 🤔 it certainly seems like it's a word, I'll check my thesaurus.
If it's not, we should petition them to make it a word 😂
Well that's a good job well done, and it's made quite the difference.
Was that the sound of a train 'whistle'?
Not sure about the climber. Is it a clematis? Glad to see the ivy going! Great work Martin.❤
Of course can be restored to its former glory…especially if they hire you be THE Gardner! 😊
Good bit of work, Martin. How's the new van doing?
English ivy is a house plant in Saskatchewan, Canada were I live!! I have never seen it grow "wild" !!
