Killing it boys great vid and some bloody nice driving Would be mental now with all the rain we've had since this vid, should go back and do another vid.
Did that track a couple of years ago, relentless is how I'd describe it, i even felt mentally drained by the end of it. It actually looks worse now, while I'll get back, I'm certainly in no rush 😄
great watch! took my stock paj up middle earth and monkey gum in 1 day last year, started at 9 in the morning rolled into camp 830 @ night hahaha the place is wild! dont see many leave without damage, i have been 6 times now . every car damages something everytime without fail hahaha
'cue the music': youtube throws in an add for happymammoth.com This is the START !!! i dont think ill make it to there . you know its crazy when patrols are lifting wheels
Looks unreal! Im heading to Yalwal at Easter time to tackle monkey gum and a few other tracks. What was the campsite you guys were at at the start of the video? I'm trying to find a spot thatll fit 8 cars 👎🏻 cheers!
Hey Nick, a good spot to camp is at Wombat Flats (it is in our Yalwal Flex Track and Rock Steps video), Wombat Flats is down the bottom of Mintbush Trail. It'll likely be busy at easter. At the start of this video, we were camped under the powerlines, it was the only spot we could find late saturday arvo, without having to drive down to Wombat Flats again.
When was this filmed? I was under the impression that most of the national parks and state forests down near Yalwal are still closed because of the fires and floods?
Yalwal, it's a national park. Monkey gum's off the Mint Bush fire trail, it get's repaved every so often but it's seen quite a bit of action and erosion as other day tracks are closing.
I have done this track many times, my first wast in a little Suzuki LJ, back in the 80's, & often came in from the Ettrema trail to the west, which has been gated for years. Now, while the last time I did this track was many years ago in my Hi lux, ( & just made it out,) I would never try it again, as the weekend warriors have turned this track into a nightmare for all. Yes, having lift kits & diff locks may be now standard, the weekend warriors have turned this track into a no go zone for the ordinary 4wd. Yes, you may say, if ya can't hack it, don't go, but I don't accept that a great 4wd track has been turned into a nightmare because of modern technology. I now understand why the NPWS don't want us in their parks, & that is because many, ( & i'm not talking about registered 4wd Clubs,) weekend warriors just don't give a fuck, & yes, again, the more these tracks are used, the more they will deteriorate ... Goodbye Monkey Gum ...
Hah, this brings back memories. The bloke driving the GQ stuck it in there in 2WD just to make me climb out the window and run the winch.
Was a good day on the track. Need to get back there at some stage!

Sounds like it is getting pretty chewed out. Keen to go back and see.
Go the Holden !! Cant wait to try with my Fortuner
Yeah survived. Rear locker was key. I hear the track is in worse condition now.
I like that track. I've never damaged anything,,,,,,,,yet! Its certainly getting more interesting
Nice work! Best to keep it that way haha

Agreed! I was definitely drained at the end of the day. So much concentration and a lot of stress in some sections.
Good video guys, good guys having great fun. Thanks
Thanks Paul. Always out for a laugh 😃
That looked EPIC!!! It had me pucker a few times and I wasn't there, Great stuff, loved it.

Wow. That's a long day haha. Yeah lots of opportunities to damage things out there. Crazy track for most cars.
Haha looks like you boys enjoyed it!
4wd Mecca. Yalwal is definitely worth a visit, be prepared for some carnage and damage.
Yeah was good. Full on the whole time though 😆
I'll have to go 1 day. Maybe add some sliders before I do it.
After driving rough terrain " ok now we are at the start of the trail"

Yalwal Campground is closed.
Hey mate, this area you guys are in where monkey gum is etc, is that a state Forrest or a national park? Cheers mate
Hey mate, not 100% sure about Monkey Gum. Would have to do some research.
Yalwal, it's a national park.
Monkey gum's off the Mint Bush fire trail, it get's repaved every so often but it's seen quite a bit of action and erosion as other day tracks are closing.
When would you be doing a walk around on the 100series landcruiser
Have had a couple of people ask about it. Will see if we can tee it up.
@@OutdoorsCBR ok cool it’s good to get ideas as I have the same cruiser
Where is entrance for monkey gum
It's roughly down the bottom of Mint Bush Trail.
