Qualified Immunity would not apply here. There is nothing preventing him and the city from being sued by the family (probably worth about $2-3 million in the lawsuit) and the cop can face criminal charges for felony hit and run. Qualifed Immunity only covers a cop if they mistakenly mis-apply the law in an arrest and the arrest was made in good faith. In other words, the cop does not really know the law and mistakenly arrests someone. Even then, you can still sue the cop but in this case, it is not a crime.
@@shenmisheshou7002 "Qualifed Immunity only covers a cop if they mistakenly mis-apply the law in an arrest and the arrest was made in good faith." In theory. Why are y’all disrespecting the deceased? Multiple times you guys said “A motorcycle collided with a mobile police car”. It’s almost as if y’all are blaming the victim. Mr.Robert didn’t collide with anyone, the cop ran him over then proceeded to drive off. Please have some respect when reporting these stories.
"A motorcycle collided with a mobile police car” is a factually accurate statement.
@@hustlecrowe9440Wrong. The witness said the cop sped around her and hit the motorcycle. They should have reported the police vehicle colliding with the motorcycle. Their wording puts the blame on the victim, instead of the officer who fled after killing someone.

More like, "An officer collided with a motorcyclist."
When traffic lights malfunction it's on the motorists to identify appropriate actions. In this case it is reported that the cop had the right of way and motorcycle needed to come to a complete stop. Either the motor cyclist didn't know the uncoming lane had yellow( right of way) or the motorcycle rider didn't stop at all.
They will probably suspend him with pay for a week or 2.
Probably give him a promotion.
no because the "peace officers" are actively attempting to cause civil unrest through police brutality and lack of code enforcement so the civil war can start quicker. So he should not be arrested. They're just doing their job exactly as they're trained, & not trained.
Hit and run murder and he gets administrative leave? Was he drinking? Was he drug tested? Any other citizen who did this would be in jail, and rightfully so.
You know they will say it was all in the line of duty and no charges are being laid
Who hit who? You keep saying the motorcycle collided with the police, yet everyone else is saying otherwise.
There's video the cop hit the motorcyclist

Wonder why this isnt on every news station
Holy crap, that was the 1st news report about cops that didn’t tell us how dangerous being a cop is.
I love how the news person keeps repeating "a motorcycle collided with a police car". I think it was the other way around

It was.
Main stream media always kiss the ass of cops
Regardless of whether the lights malfunctioned or not, the officer hit this poor man and kept going.
The lights only malfunctioned in the sense that they were not cycling between green/yellow/red, and were instead stuck flashing yellow in one direction (Zeigler), and flashing red in the other (Cody).
The officer needs to be fired immediately and charged immediately for vehicler manslaughter and leaving a scene of a fatal crash that he caused
no because the "peace officers" are actively attempting to cause civil unrest through police brutality and lack of code enforcement so the civil war can start quicker. So he should not be arrested. They're just doing their job exactly as they're trained, & not trained.
Why doesn't the officer have charges and in jail.
The officer better be arrested for felony, leaving the scene of a crash, which resulted in a homicide
Had he been a REGULAR SMEGULAR individual he’d be in JAIL!!!! Smh a badge shouldn’t protect you from facing the consequences of your actions.
If it were a regular citizen that hit the motorcycle, they would have been pursued and arrested. But not a cop. No, cops and law enforcement employees are a protected class of people. Therefore, they get special treatment. Qualified immunity must be removed. This sort of protection is not available to anyone else. America, we have a law enforcement problem.
Im pro-cop. Pro good cops. And to have good cops they need to be held to a higher standard, not a lower one. Qualified Immunity needs to be for ALL government employees, including bureaucrats who empower LEOs.
@@calvinhobbes6118 Your last sentence may be a miss-statement. There was a time way before 2000. Before there were so many State and federal agencies carrying badges and guns. He should be in a jail cell like anyone else, but he's a cop and a cop is above the law
Thanks ladies for sticking around .
So the cop is gonna get charged with Felony hit and run right?
Edit: Because I feel like if you do a hit and run in that county that you’re just free to go without consequences right because a cop did it. Should probably end qualified immunity
Nah that dude is getting paid vacation right now smh
In practice, QI covers a cop as long as a court overseeing there district hasn't already ruled that their specific situation is a violation of someone's rights. Cops are essentially free to violate your rights as long as a court hasn't ruled on the specific way they violated your rights.
Officer is screwed. This is going to be very bad for taxpayers.

So many times people have argued here in YT comments with me, that officers should get special privileges for "emergency calls", that they should be able to break the law when others cannot. THIS is exactly the reason no one should have the authority to place innocent drivers in danger. Even Fire dept and EMT's slow and honk at intersections...cops are out of line.

That is fleeing the scene of an accident, vehicular manslaughter, driving too fast for conditions and evading. All are illegal and he should be charged as such

Because maybe that's what happened
The police car is damaged on the drivers door. From looking at the damage it is quite obvious who hit who. The only issue is who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
We can police ourselves. It's time to let all law enforcement officers off the payroll.

@calvinhobbes6118 That's basically modern times when you step back and look at the big picture.
Where I live is a great example. Where you are might not be so much. But everyone around here is capable of self-defense and self aid, or aiding others. Everyone is armed, and we all know each other to some degree. Our community watches out for each other. This has been lost in the big cities or 'kingdoms'. For them, there is no lasting solution. All cities fail when they eventually turn to corruption and tyranny.
There will always be bad guys, has been since day one, and there will be until humans last days. An armed society is a polite society. Disarming them, softening them up and making them dependent on cell phones and 911 is not a lasting solution.
