I just can’t help thinking that Joel is the evangelist and Lisa is the teacher. They have been a great blessing to so many of us.
I disagree; I believe Joel focuses on UNDERSTANDING the word of God and how to apply it to life. I would never refer to him as just an evangelist. :D
I gather this from the perspective of the five fold ministries. One is always most effective and functional in the area of their given ministry. It doesn’t mean they can’t or aren’t able to have some degree of effectiveness in “non-core” ministries. I believe a church will have people with gifts in each of these five fold ministries, and they are to be identified and work together for the church to be fully effective.
@@winsyong You're quite educated in the "organization" of the church; from this perspective, I dislike "pigeonholing" Joel and his ministry, for it combines so many elements, not all of which are the domain of the church: encouragement; motivational speaker; understanding faith; application of faith; history; compassion; wisdom; etc. Joel is like Anthony Robbins meets the Bible. Inspirational from truth. You don't need to believe everything in the bible to be encouraged by or inspired by Joel.
Walküre Hauk I think what u r saying is not in full contradiction but u need to be careful that Joel’s ministry and Lakewood church’s function is not the same. A church has a larger function and Joel’s gift of ministry is partial contribution to the church. And Joel rightly acknowledges that he needs others to support the church, which is great to see, as he has many other ministers in the church ministering to different needs of the church. As I said earlier, it doesn’t mean one cannot have some degree of effectiveness outside ones area of ministry but there is a special effectiveness when one operates within one’s ministry. This is not a criticism, but Joel’s way of sharing and speaking is most attractive to people who do not know Christ and those who have “backsliden”, and I think this is a very special gift. That’s why he gets a lot of unwarranted criticisms for his sermons that seem to have “little depth” and yet this is what is needed to reach the common folks which I see as an evangelical ministry.
Please include in your prayer evangelist my family to go back inJesus so that we are all save here in philippines im watching and hearing your message

I’m confused bc when I surrendered my life to God when I was lost in the dark and suicidal I prayed directly to God. I knew who Jesus was but I went directly to God. For over a year I got to know God and he totally transformed my life and took away my addictions and I learned to read the Bible and became born again and now live in the light not the dark. But I never went through Jesus bc I wouldn’t have understood that. My prayers still worked and God still saved my life and I now have a reason to live and help suicidal people learn of the Lords love.
