When I was an apprentice I got the broom handle put through my sleeves, raised up on the two post ramp, suspended by the broom and a pool of brake cleaner set on fire under my feet, boss didn't even bat an eye lid! Those were the days!! 🤙
Apprentice at local canal boat yard they used to send you the hardware shop for a long wait and got sent the paint supply shop for a tin of tartan paint they once sent me up the office to ask a rather posh lady who worked there if she had a stiff brush she slapped me. The worst was they used to to through you in the canal on your birthday I got chucked in came out orange covered in mud and shite went home had a shower got changed went back work and they threw me in again lmao happy days love the vids Chris Whoop Whoop
We sent the apprentice to the stores for a long weight, the store man kept him there for 45 minutes waiting 😅he didn’t get it till the store man told him “was that wait long enough 🤣
I used to be a foremen at a double glazing company,I was cutting glass one day and sent the apprentice to the directors office to get a glass stretcher because I had cut the glass too short.😂
It's not a seat belt when it's fitted to a fork truck, it's a "Supplementary load securing device" for cargo that's carried on the counterweight ! I got held upside down as an apprentice and they poured oil down one trouser leg and absorbent grit down the other, by the time I'd walked home at knock off, I'd perfectly lapped in my own ring piece !😂
One of your old videos saved me today! Had a DAF CF with the Stability control MIL, Tyre pressure calibration and ABS MIL on! No reading from the front right wheel speed sensor. Replaced sensor still nothing. Followed your vid! Found the break in the loom. What a shit of a job haha. Thanks for the videos mate! Saved my shit a few times. Strugglers 'til we die aha! 🤘👍
Sky hook, a special drill bit for drilling Polo mints, Non stick masking tape, hot welding rods in your pockets, Thick end of a wedge, disc pads for drum brakes, cans of air for checking brake chambers, greased bollocks, hung of a crane by your feet, and the best one, made a young lad walk to a spares dealer with a large cardboard box full of Bolts it weighed about 35kg told him not to drop or open the box😂
You've made my Wednesday!! I had my rigger boots filled with expanding foam! Sent into town to a merchants for giggley wheel grease and a sky hook! I was only 17 an dumb as they come😂😂😂
Went through a maccies drive through with the apprentice in the van, just as we got to the first window I said to him, grab me my jumper out the back of the van, as soon as he jumped out I shut the door and locked the van. He had to walk through the drive through next to the van. I enjoyed them few minutes far to much
I used to be a stores man in a jcb dealership and hell the stress i used to have with the parts system. Plus you'll order a part and the customer brought in the old bit and it didn't match and you end up arguing with the customer but only to find out it had been super seceded half a dozen times in the last 12 months ffs.
I remember one of my fellow apprentices getting copper greased, that must have taken some getting off. One of the first things I was taught was how to do my mentors roll ups, sat down a pit with half ounce of Golden Virginia and a pack of Rizzlas, once I had mastered that I was allowed to touch the spanners. I have to have an annual van inspection for work, four weeks later mine looks like yours used to haha
Memories of apprenticeships, my head broke the ice on the tyre tub on many winter days, also got sent to the stores for some sparks for the plugs. When I went to Ford and Slater in Nottingham the river ran next to the dealers and young lads were put on a cross and put in the stream held by ropes. Today you would be banged up for anything like it.
Hi Chris you should get yourself a vacuum tester ",not that expensive to buy" and block the inlet to the filter and vacuum the other side and see if it will hold the vacuum; They are really useful for bleeding brakes and fuel systems
Young lads in the railway machine shop ,the old boys would stand and sing, sing or show us you Ring, young lad said I cannot sing but will bear my Ring. great times !😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍
Hi Chris…..I was an apprentice in a timber yard…..16 at the time, cycled to work….youngest there by 6 years, 73 blokes in the yard, lads found it funny to lift my pushbike into the rafters of the main timber shed, with the forklift, and tie it on with about 8 feet of rope….15 mins before the end of the day….I had to go up and crawl out the A Frame timber beam to untie it….then realised “ wet Behind the ears” how the hell was I going to lower it down, all the while everyone appeared from their hiding places to have a bloody good laugh……they did get it down in the end , only after throwing lumps of wood at me for a laugh….great days lol 👍😜🇮🇲
my first day on the site i was working on. the guys concreted my hard hat , drilled my gloves to the wall and hilti gunned my lunch box to the table.it was like you said to see if i could take it or was going to leave. i laughed at it and worked there for 3 years. keep up the great videos mate.
As an apprentice mechanic, I was sent to the exhaust store (under the bays). When I walked through the door, one of the lads shouted to shock me. As I screamed, he stuffed a paint brush loaded up with copper grease straight into my mouth 🤣🤣
Hi Chris. Liking the tidy van. My dad used to say if you have a tidy you will be more productive. Must true look how many jobs you did in vid. Keep it going mate 👍
I Chris we are the last of the Jedi trained apprentices from the old School days when you learned quickly not too piss about , if you got the job wrong you got told off , if you did it again you got a lump of 3x2 chucked at your head 😢😢. We didn’t turn out too bad from this experience did we learned us respect good works practice and to do your best for the customer 😊
Cn this world has gone bonkers Chris I worked at a paint place in the 70s had a target painted on my back of course the blokes through all sorts at my back 😢😢😂😂😂😂😂 woo woo 👍👍

Hi Chris, great topic re apprenticeship! You'd be in court today affecting someone's future life and anxiety 😂😂 I can remember being sent to stores for "tartan paint" and a left handed brush for it 😂😂 Also "a long weight" for the top of the desk .....I think I waited around 30 mins for it before the laughter was heard....🙂 It gave you thicker skin and the lads accepted you on site and looked after you ....these days the youth couldn't even take it .... The van looks great and well impressed you're tidying up as you go mate .....that's the way!! "Whoop .....whoop .....see ya's later" Be safe be kind 🙏🦉 G
YEAH, CHRIS !, I was “greased” as an apprentice mechanic, back in the day, I think it was a last resort from the older guys as I didn’t fall for any of the other stuff like going somewhere for a “long wait” or going the paint suppliers for some Tartan paint etc !!, haha. Must admit, getting greased was NOT nice. You are right though, kids today would get daddy to sue the company for thousands for “ little Tommy’s hurt feelings” !. Most jobs now seem very inane and boring, there’s no fun and games in the workplace anymore, it’s much too serious.
When I was an apprentice my friend was striped naked and tied to a trolley by his arms and legs. The trolley was then pushed into the canteen at lunch time. I have never laughed so much.
Just like people to start pulling and disconnecting wires when they don’t know what their doing 🤣. I was an apprentice carpenter on the job with a bunch of lads. They took my tool belt and painted it pink. I got even the next day with my own can of pink spray paint🤣🤣. Good job on keeping the van clean. Your right can’t say Jack shit to these young ones now a days without them running and wining to mommy and daddy, poor little apprentices 🤣🤣. 👏👍💕🇨🇦
Love the special effects. When the phone fell and recorded the power cord not saving it was very symbolic of the struggle. You are a regular Spielberg Chris! Great watch!😊🇨🇦
Hi Chris great videos, I have a teletruck jcb and it had fuel issues, the suction pipe inside the fuel tank had slackened off, and also there’s a wee filter on the suction pip, There’s a hatch under the boom to get into the tank, after I cleaned strainer and tightened lift pipe run like a dream now
Quality Chris! Had me giggling this one 😂...oh the lisy can go on for apprentice banter 😂 sky hooks, skirting board ladder, spirit level bubbles, a long weight, tartan paint...😂😂 too soft nowadays!
When i was apprentice i got the sweeping brush through the overalls and semt up on the forks and left. I also got jumped ane mummified in maaking tape and dumped in the spray booth and left. I was also volunteered to stand on the forks and try and catch a budgie that was flying about in the roof of the shop. One of the oldee guys got cable tied to the fence and his strides pulled down. He was left out there for ages. People driving by and everything. They were ruthless
Nice to see the van tidy,we sent a lad to the parts supplier for a box of air for a turbo and they played along by taping up a box and told him to be really careful taking it back.
We zip tied the apprentice to the front yard fence at lunch time and left him there for 2 hours, anybody coming on or off the industrial estate had to drive past him. Good times. He turn out to be a really good fitter.
Hi Chris I use to work with a chap we called him billy one lug because he had one ear he liked to mess about a bit .he would where bib and brace overalls so we would get his thumbs round his back and wrap them in the braces and he would be like for hours ❤😂
As an apprentice I didn't really go through much, I was sent to the stores in a different part of the factory with a list. Left handed screw driver. A glass hammer. A long weight (wait). a set of sky hooks. Kids of today are mostly snow flakes.
I got dunked in the water tub what they used for mixing cement on a building site. Next to the mountain of sand and the pallet of cement. It was a tad cold to put it mildly. It was a type of initiation. Couldn't get away with that nowadays.👍👍😉
Chris I worked for a builder when I was a boy and he had me in there for three hours and bear in mind this van was ten times worse than yours 😂 three hours looking for a tin of a tartan paint a sky hook and a skirting ladder
As an apprentice in 86/87agricultural and commercial tyre depot passed driving test, so celebration of passing and becoming a man was dragged into tyre store overalls n shirt off arms tied behind my back and had tyre black chest hair and beard applied liberally, oh the laughs we had😮 when I first started at 16 first 18.4x30 tyre I replaced I was put in it and bowled down the field 100 yards in a tyre, better than being drunk😂😂😂
Got faith in you keeping van tidy Chris, give it a month 😂, when I was apprentice got told to catch sparks from grinder and get left handed screw driver 🤦.
Mint video mate when I was an apprentice one of the lads super Glue Stanley blades to the back of my toolbox draws so it cut my fingers when I opened it it's a different world 🌎 now
many moons ago the lads stuck the brush through the arms of my overalls and took me up on the 4 post lift then wen for dinner lol it was gas welding back then and one of the lads shouted me to take the mole grips off a sill the barsteward had warmed them up kids today had no idea Chris.
Hiya Chris I love that dog stand of yours , am shocked that Apple haven’t been in Touch with you so they could pattern it make a lot of money from Chris 😂😂👍
Chris get one of them fuel primer bulb things & use it with a jug of diesel to force fuel into the lift pump inlet. it's easier to see fuel leaking out than air being drawn in. Try to get connected as close to the fuel tank as reasonably possible. That fuel filter looks the same as an earlyish mk7 transit ? Struggled with sealing them a few times.
If you unbolt the fuel filter housing with the glass bowl on the bottom, and turn it upside down if it's dragging in air before the filter you will s3e bubbles in the glass bowl indicating air entering the system before the filter. Nice cheap and easy test Keep up the good work struggler
😂😂😂 only going back like 6-7 years but remember locking a apprentice in a 200degree powdercoat oven while it was cooling down … his trainers melted to the floor got a bollerking but well worth it , he never fucked a wheel up again tho so worked
Have you checked the gauze filter in lift pump if there's a ring of bolts around the filter remove them and check behind the diaphragm as they can leak and oil gets in the back of the diaphragm causing it to not pump can drain the oil from behind it and see if it improves but will need a new one eventually as it hydraulics up
Who's this new fella pretending to be Chris and his tidy van I don't know I'd never find nowt in that tidy van we'll have a whip round and pay the ransom so we can have our old chris back jolly good show 👍
I`m 70 mate. My apprenticeship some of the best years of my life. The mates the tradesman above and the foreman all great chaps. Too soft now by far. I will go as far as saying these were the days I leant the most. Gimme a shout if you agree
I had a few things happen to me grab hold of plug lead to check for spark god the bonnet hurt when you hit you head on it and go to the stores for a metric ajustable From andy in devon
Threw a bucket of water over my boss when he was sat outside his office sun bathing, on the Friday when all the drivers where back in the yard he got them to get a grip of me & they covered me in red grease & saw dust. 25 years ago they where good times
I remember using some welding rods as an apprentice back in the 80's that i'd been told not to use.. Me being me went and used them and got caught,i got bounced off every wall and ceiling in the factory. The string around the rods was asbestos. I was aching for fucking weeks.
Had my pedal bike cable tied to the rafters, the legs on my chair sawn half way through so when I sat on it I hit the deck so I proceeded to cut everyone's steel toe caps out of their boots at bait time, it was hilarious when they all got back and had to use them because there wasn't any replacements. A couple of my pals had a young un trying to bump start a stihl saw for about an hour I then sent him for some fallopian tubes from the stores. The same kid was told to fill the dumper truck up with diesel he then came back with the bucket full must've been about a 1000 litres in it 😂 good times
When I was an apprentice I got the broom handle put through my sleeves, raised up on the two post ramp, suspended by the broom and a pool of brake cleaner set on fire under my feet, boss didn't even bat an eye lid! Those were the days!! 🤙
Get little Birdie to do the drawing for JCB, hers will make more sense🤣

I used to be a foremen at a double glazing company,I was cutting glass one day and sent the apprentice to the directors office to get a glass stretcher because I had cut the glass too short.😂
I’ve had the scaffold pole trick done to me but it had holes drilled in it and they had a hose pipe down the pole😂🤠
I was sent into a fridge box to change a top light then they closed the back doors and took me on road test 😂

Threw a bucket of water over my boss when he was sat outside his office sun bathing, on the Friday when all the drivers where back in the yard he got them to get a grip of me & they covered me in red grease & saw dust. 25 years ago they where good times
I remember using some welding rods as an apprentice back in the 80's
that i'd been told not to use..
Me being me went and used them and got caught,i got bounced off every wall and ceiling in the factory.
The string around the rods was asbestos.
I was aching for fucking weeks.
Having a tidy van does make the job just that little bit easier that’s for sure.
