The SS/Ts are a cool truck to own. I have a 97 emerald green. It's a sports plus package version. Came with a roll pan, port tuned headers (shorties), a tannue cover, and other cool options. Unfortunately, i.bought this truck in my 20s and didn't take care of it like I should have ( a lot of street racing). Now it sits in my garage collecting dust, but now, after watching these videos, I'm getting more and more motivated to fix up my first love.
Definitely keep the interior stock. Very rare interior. Also, I'd keep this truck as OEM looking as possible because it's rare, but love the surprise under the hood. (Sleeper)

I’d paint the engine bay by color code, you’ll need it for the outside anyway. I like black leather interiors but I also could see keeping the inside stock if it’s in good condition. You make some very interesting videos.
The Camel tan is the rarest interior for the 97 and 98 SS/Ts. I say stick with it. There is also a body kit that was optional for these rams. If you can find one, I think you would like it. Enjoying the SS/T saga.

Restore is exactly what it means factory paint codes factory decals and yes a rear bumper not a roll pan.... Oh and don't ask about "the patina" look. Who ever started that garbage needs to have their head examined... and unless you are going to chop and weld in a 4 link back half don't drop it in the weeds..... keep up the great videos and enjoy 👍👌✌️🇺🇸🇺🇲
So I love the idea of restoring the interior to factory. Now this is the issue that I am having and why I am torn. I have not really been able to find anyone out there that has been doing things like charger dash/ interior swaps in these second gen full size trucks and that is something I am REALLY interested in.
Paint the engine bay back to the color code spec. Also, I think you should do the interior back factory as well. Classic look, modern power. Keep up the good work, great build! I started following you from the swapped Dakota.
John I would keep the interior in its factory colour of tan & far as paint, Paint it the PW7 know as Chrysler “Bright White” if you look super close it has a hair of metallic pigmentation, I learned that when I painted my 2nd gen Ram’s tailgate as it’s the only part of the truck to have the dreaded Chrysler psoriasis.
I would do the outside factory. Color, strips and everything. But I’d swap the interior with a new laramie interior. Sweet little ride with a little bit of both worlds.

I love it. I’d say leave it factory on the interior but switch out the center console/third seat and install a factory center console. Also you should use the factory 6 or 8 speed transmission instead of the 3 speed 727. Also would make it more street able. Also stick a blower on top of that 5.7.
my ss/t is the whole reason i have a strong connection to ram trucks in general i though it was a cool looking truck when i bought it at 18 three years later im still in love with it like the day i bought it i now own a 2004 hemi sport both are on drop kits and the ss/t is still my favorite truck driving on the streets i’d lose my mind if i got to see another one in person that isn’t mine
If you are going for the sleeper look,just restore the interior. To bad you don't have a small light trailer (4x8) you could set your cab on. Or make another dolly.
Looking good man! I’m super excited to see it come together. I have a question though, why don’t the stripes have “SS/T” cut out of them on the hood and tailgate? I wonder if previous owner replaced the stripes with solid ones at some point.
i am a second gen freak i would keep the original dash im just saying if the truck ever left your ownership would be worth a treasure trove with the restomod you are doing
Personally would like to see 99 plus mirror on it maybe a 99 plus dash 🤷♂️ personally like it more but the factory 4th Gen seats would be cool in there

I recommend original, paint code color. That way when and if you ever need to fix or match the paint again, you don't have to second guess what blend of color you did use.
I prefer the purest white you can. its brite and flash alot. Some white melallic are great. But i hate yellowish oem white. But Metallic blue with white stripes might be cool too.
Chrysler's W7 line of white has been used for years. It is its own color something else might comes close just get the right stuff. You'll regret it if you don't. Just my opinion.
Color code. White isn't white. There's several tints to white. Just what I would do. OREILLYS will mix a can up color code that you can spray like aerosol. Very cheap.
I say restore the interior and paint the engine bay the same color code as the truck. Two different shades of white does not look right and I think it will bother you down the road. A quick fix/ paint not the answer.

Restore the current! It’ll look mint and simple, like a classic rebuild, but be a freak in street when your done.

Rattle cans are for chevys
Paint everything by colour code. Also for extra piece of mind, add a couple of diagonal braces for your cart you made that the box is sitting on.
The work you do is mint keep up the work.
Keep that interior it looks great! Don’t see many of those interiors much. Maybe a few updates tho🤷♂️

Stick with the PW7 White color. Also stay with the original tan interior. TBO I haven’t seen that color inside that rare truck.
