- Hello Everyone! It's Tom and Paul! We're The Blokes From Stoke! Two big kids (and a dog) sharing our love of Disney, Universal, Theme Parks, Travel, Florida and Home.
Welcome to our California Vlog series 2024!
It's the second full day of our California trip and we're off to do some exploring!
Firstly we fuel up for the day by heading to & Waffle for a hearty breakfast before braving the metro for the first time and heading to the heart of Hollywood. We have a stroll along the Walk of Fame and enjoy a pit stop at the Disney/Ghiradelli store.
Then it's on to a tour bus to discover the delights of the locality including the world famous Hollywood Sign and other points of interest including celeb homes and a certain public convenience made famous by George Michael!
Once off the bus, it's back to the car and we then make our way over to Anaheim for the beginning of our Disney experience. Get ready for MAGIC!

Good on George for maximising the police’ honey trap, to his own benefit. There are so many tours to choose from there, I think a visitor is spoiled for choice.
The Loo and the Sign were absolute highlights! We love George, so to be in this spot was such a moment, even more so for its notoriety! Each tour probably offers something different so it’s definitely worth checking out all the itineraries and stopping points. Thanks for coming with us!

Hi guys, brought back so many memories of my first visit my friend and I stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel opposite the Graumans theatre so we could visit the footprints with no one around we did a tour of Beverly hills stars homes and were lucky enough to see Kenny Rodgers the country star loading his golf clubs into his car. We always stay at a hotel at the back of the Disneyland theme park and we get to watch the fireworks every night in the car park, it is so close all the car alarms get set off when they get going.

I’ve caught a railtour today at abbotswood junction and it was hauled by the royal Scot going to Worcester

omg i nearly spat my coffee out laughing when you mentioned the loo george michael got arrested at as i went on the tour after it had happened and the tour guides were showing it back then 1998. great vlogs really bringing back a lot of memories for me

Thanks so much for watching. We did drive past the house MJ stayed in (but our view wasn’t great from the opposite side of the van!). Hopefully we’ll go back one day and do it all again!

My hubby was telling me about the history of the sign today and the sign originally was Hollywood Land to do with a housing development (look it up if interest) but who knew, not me but he has this kind of stuff stored in his head somewhere 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 It was good seeing the stars particularly the movie stars of old like Marilyn Monroe (god knows why Richard Branson has one!!!). 🤷 Until next time 🥰🥰❤❤
Thanks so much! If you look back at the tour, you’ll see we drove past a little blue and white building which said Hollywoodland and apparently that’s where everyone went to purchase their property all those years ago! So many fab facts! This was a lovely day so thanks for joining us!
We did a really good hike up to the sign. If you go again I recommend parking on Canyon Drive and hiking up.

You just get better and better - what a brilliant couple of days you had in this vlog ! Mention of Hanley market duck 😊😊 in the waffles place , yep you are right you wouldnt have got that there 😂😂 I was eating a bacon n cheese oatcake with brown sauce while watching that bit - your food did look gorgeous tho.
You did a fair job on the tour considering the seats you had for filming and it gotta be done I suppose going for pee in "those toilets" 😂😂.

hello lads! the movies you saw listed walking up the stairs towards the Dolby Theater are the Academy Award Winners for Best Pictures of the Year. it lists the title and the year it won.

You are correct. They did film terminator 2 at the LA River, just not at that location.

Yeah that aqueduct was used for Terminator 2 and in TV series Lucifer. Also think not sure Grease was also done there.

Can I ask a wee question? How safe did you guys feel on the metro and walking around? some posts I've read would put you off going!@@TheBlokesFromStoke
@@angelahutton4944 Hiya. We felt ok, especially as we were only doing two stops, but can understand why it could seem intimidating! Maybe a bit different in bigger cities. Hence why we didn’t film much! Might not be so bad if you’re in a group of people?

I’ve stayed at this hotel. You don’t need to buy that pass if you want a ride to the park. Directly across the street is the Toy Story Parking lot. So you can just walk over there, go thru security, and take the Disney Bus over for free. Now, if you want the convince of just walking out of the lobby and getting on transport, then by all means go ahead and do it. But if you are trying to watch your spending, don’t bother.
Thanks Meredith. We didn’t know that was an option. We were advised to do the pass by the team member on reception and having not been before, we thought that was the best thing to do, but we’ll know for the future!

Great vlog! That shopping centre is right next to the hotel where me and Brendan are staying! I think we're going to book the same tour as you because we want to have the Hollywood Sign photos on that private trail. Can I ask aswel, did you feel safe on the metro? Because I was thinking of using it but have been advised not to as its not safe?
Thanks Rach!!! The tour was really good and he was a great guide. We felt ok on the Metro but we only did two stops so that probably wasn’t too bad. It was surprisingly quiet tho. Might be a different experience if you were in the middle of New York!
Omg going to California in 3 weeks and stopping off in Hollywood for the day. Will be definitely keeping my eye out for the George Michael toilet 😂😂😂. We will be using the metro was it easy ?
Hiya. Yeah it was pretty straightforward… a bit like an Oyster card. Just follow the instructions on the screen. Let us know if you find “that” loo! 😂😂 Thanks for tuning in!
I’d also say just keep your wits about you as you would in any big city. There were some people who were down on their luck riding the trains and were a bit out of it but I’d say just make sure you don’t look touristy and go in the cars where there’s plenty of people.

Hiya. There’s not a direct Metro but there’s an Amtrak train from Downtown L.A. which takes you to Fullerton station in Anaheim (about 5 miles from Disney). Think it takes about 30 mins…

Did you know if you park at the mickey and friends parking structure there is a tram service to the parks?
Yes we found out about that afterwords, but we managed to use the service from the hotel as we could just keep the car in the car park… but thank you!

Didd you know that there was a famous murder up at the Hollywood sign transformers was filmed there and ues you are correct if memory servers me correctly that river part was where terminator and other films was filmed

Hiya 🤗 loved this vlog - I really want to do the Hollywood sightseeing tour 😊 I wonder if that area you saw was from terminator 2, it really did look like it. LA traffic is meant to be the worst, cause I’m not the best traveller, that (the traffic) is something that is putting me off DLC 🫣 but I do want to make it there one day. I cannot wait to see your first full day there and such a lovely surprise getting a theme park view room ♥️ xxx
Thank you! Hopefully you’ll be able to make the trip at some point… but yes that traffic is something else! We think the terminator location was a bit further away, but we reckon that it connects to the bit we saw somewhere… not long til we take you to Disney!
