RIP Rene Auberjonois. Love the use of Elfman's Batman theme here. Peter David's novelization is the best version of the Batman Forever story. This audiobook is good, though abridged. We went over the novel itself in our podcast, as part of our 4 part deep dive into Batman Forever: th-cam.com/video/b21qsby2npk/w-d-xo.html
I knew his brother (my best friends dad) and he always asked me if i learned Pink Floyds “comfortable numb” solo yet, i always said no lol. More of a classical/bluegrass guitarist. Those brothers are now in the Great Gig in the Sky
Very neat in terms of uploading an audiobook. Still wish this was the version of Batman Forever we had gotten instead of the actual final product. With Peter David making the script like this and Warner Bros not meddling in the production of the film while demanding it be a toy commercial (Warner Bros and DC are not a toy company and their main focus should be on telling a good comic book story as opposed to base it on how much merchandise they can sell on said comic). Although personally. If I were Schumaker. I would have cut out Robin and Two Face while saving them for a 4th film. And made it a Batman Vs. Riddler film like the new Batman film. With it being a much more smaller scale film as opposed to a film filled with too much stuff going on in the film. But what do I know? Aside from that. A fine job done on the audiobook. God bless and have a good day. And Rest In Peace Joel Schumaker and Rene Auberjonis. They both will be missed.
Just from the first chapter, this is an entirely different beast to the film version, & I'm digging it. Opening with Bruce falling into the cave & hearing voices, a flashback to Edward Nygma's childhood, & Batman meeting a pre-Two-Face Harvey Dent on a roof. Very interesting stuff.
It’s interesting to note that instead of simply falling to his death like in the film, Two-Face actually chooses to die after Robin calls him out for deciding through his coin. And it makes Two-Face’s end all the more tragic, as it’s implied that Robin’s little speech helped Harvey to reassert control. And it’s likely that Harvey chose to die because he felt it would be better than to let Two-Face run rampant like he had done since being scarred.
This, especially the scene of Batman kissing Chase, is way better than the movie. We get more dialogue and actually know what the characters are thinking
