Emperor gave Ah Duo the southern palace when she left because of their history. He wouldn’t have done something like that otherwise.

Ahhh okay that makes sense. Tbh I would personally try and keep her with me because she was his homegirl since they were kids. I feel so bad for her

Tbh this is something that kinda annoys me in Maomao ngl😂 in the manga, she has MANY moments that she starts to question things about Jinshi (his behavior sometimes, his relationship with others, etc), and she's always right....BUT THEN SHE BE LIKE "Nah it must not be it" AND THROW EVERYTHING INTO THE TRASH😂 like girl wake up. Well...the cat's outta the bag now. Yes, FINALLY it's not a spoiler anymore - Jinshi is royalty (even if you consider him either the emperor's son or brother, he still is).

Yessir!! I speculated last episode that perhaps something similar happened but I thought I was just overthinking it but that's actually so crazy. I feel bad for Ah-Duo because she was raised as the emperor's closest friend/sister. Then she had to become his concubine and have a child with him. Then she had to switch her own child with the emperor's brother so that her child could live a happy life. After all this she was forced to leave because she couldn't give birth anymore. So tragic. I really hope we see more of her. I also think it's funny that the emperor hasn't even given it a thought that his "brother" looks damn near identical to the girl he's known the longest in his life😭 (maybe he knows though I'm not sure)

@@ShinigamiKenReacts I agree 100%. I really feel for Ah-Duo man....imagine having a chilhood friend, then when you grow up you're basically "forced" (i know she wasn't forced in the sense of the word, but you know what i'm trying to say) to sleep with them just to conceive a child, and then back to being just a friend. This is.....rough to say the least.
Btw, i think some people got this already, but Lishu's taster is not a bully anymore. After Maomao scared her, she is legit a decent woman now and i believe she's the closest person Lishu has as a "friend".....but her ladies-in-waiting still suck tho😂

@@ShinigamiKenReactsthat seems like really simplify her relationship with the emperor and making her some kinda victim in this regard when she is clearly not. We know she clearly was able to talk to him straightforwardly and speak her mind. So this "forced" narrative seems really forced by viewers and not the show. They were married for 10 years exclusively to each other after the loss of the baby and we know that he only got other concubines after becoming the emperor. More over she even got a title while not being a noble woman. And she still was his wife and friend for as long as was possible at the time despite everyone knowing there won't be any children. And even after her leaving the court the emperor didn't sent her to her family or to a monastery (that would be a traditional and right way in the people's eyes to do it) but was given a palace to do whatever she wants with emperor supporting her for the rest of her life. Let's not pretend like her being with the emperor was the tragic event here. They clearly loved each other one way or another for their whole lives. The tragedy here is how misfortunes 16 years ago made it do they couldn't be with each other as they wished in their youth

@@ashyroy9454 I understand what you're saying but her relationship with the emperor was not fleshed out in the anime. From what we are told, she has been shown as a victim in multiple situations. From not having a doctor during childbirth, to her saying "I never thought I'd become a concubine" with a sad expression. So it's implied that she was his friend and was "coerced" into being his wife and became okay with it once he said she will be his only wife. We are also never shown her being able to talk to the emperor straightforwardly aside from what fengming stated. We haven't seen a single interacting between Ah-Duo and the emperor. So it's not a forced narrative by viewers, the anime has not done a good job (in my opinion) of showing to us that she isn't a victim. We are also not told that her going to a palace is special treatment. We are just told she will go there and that's it. So I think that narrative does derive from the anime
