- Today I want to discuss how I believe Huey, Dewey, and Louie are handling the McDuck legacy by breaking down the DuckTales Halloween Special! Even though it seems like Scrooge McDuck will live forever going on adventures, the boys continue to wrestle with what their purposes and roles will be in the world after he’s gone. Specifically in the season three episode “The Trickening” we get to see how all three of the boys can embody different perspectives that exist in Scrooge that almost seem to clash with one another before they all come together.

My favorite part of the episode is Scrooge's homage to Spooky Scary Skeletons.
I thought the Halloween episode was okay because it's just a Halloween special but I do see more for Huey's character arc this season and I hope we get more his arc in the later episodes

The triplets have all the choices of life and I also hope they make the right ones. I always like seeing your vids and hearing from you. Willy Wonka would love to supply the triplets with candy for a shop.
To me, becoming rich is a fate worse than being poor. I say this because when you're rich; you act like you have the answer to all of life's problems, that there's nothing in the universe that's out of your reach and that you are the highest authority known to man. But when you become like this; you also become selfish, cruel, power mad and oblivious to the struggles of the world.
But when you're poor, you actually understand what really matters in the world; family, a warm home and good company to share it all with.
If the kids become like Scrooge, I fear their moral compasses will all be broken
sadlobster1 idk, people who are poor can still be very selfish or cruel due to their circumstance and feel the need to protect what they have, regardless of family. I think it really depends just how your moral compass is and how you use it.

this is actually a really interesting video idea!! i already knew that their aim for season 3's overarching theme would be "legacy", but i never thought to read the halloween episode as part of that theme. (mostly because i incorrectly assumed that the episode would be mostly just fun filler and turned my brain off a bit haha. i've only watched it once)
but anyway, your point about this episode highlighting the kids'/triplets' similarities to scrooge, including his flaws, was a really good observation. we've already seen parallels between scrooge and each of the kids before, but i didn't notice it in this episode until you pointed it out. and you're right about the triplets having to overcome scrooge's own flaws and pushing, complementing each other in a way that will help them be better people than scrooge and to avoid repeating history. i really like that reading of the episode and it's so relevant, too.
as for my personal fav parts of this episode, i really liked how scrooge was in this episode, doing his own thing, and going trick or treating despite his age. and i absolutely loved the dynamic between donald and della in this ep, then later their dynamic with launchpad. it was super fun.
i also thought it was really interesting how it was /dewey's/ idea that led to the ending, not louie's, considering louie's the triplet who's most interested in business and stuff. it was nice to see them appreciate and listen to dewey's idea for this one.

@jf k oh i love what you said about LP not celebrating halloween in his house as a kid. yeah, it's nice to see that they didn't really make fun of him or anything for him not knowing. they were confused at first, yes, but they didn't make him feel bad for it.
Louie gives the best line in the series: "Wonder where I got that from?", in response to his mother, in doing something without thinking about the consequences, after the time bathtub episode. THIS really reeled me in... 😈

It'll also be bad to be rich; people would want your wealth, go into depression for losing your nephew and niece in like less than a year, along with your three grand nephews, (or whatever) and have your financial advisors wanting to kill your family to steal from the world.*
This was such a fun episode. Really loved the similarities between this episode and Summerween from Gravity Falls.

Little is known about the mysterious Mr Duck, Daisy Duck's brother. He was the boyfriend (and probably husband) of Della Duck, Donald Duck's sister, and therefore the father of Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck.
I’d like to see more Donald, but, he’s also not the main focus. The Triplets, Webby, and Scrooge are. (It’d be more appropriate for Donald to get his own reboot for greater screentime.)
But as far as Della and having her eggs? I don’t think THIS Della had a “Mr. Duck”, especially since she’s already drastically different from her barely-a-footnote classic counterpart. THIS Della I can easily see not having a partner at all, but still wanting to be a mother; and since Scrooge had all the money to throw at things, she probably opted to artificially inseminate.
The Triplets never ask about a “dad”, either offhand as a “deadbeat” or how much they missed him or wanted him-they specifically want to know about their mother.

I really enjoyed the DuckTales Halloween episode, it was pretty cool and the kids got to meet real life monsters, and it was kinda funny that Launchpad thought that it was his fault that Halloween was created.

It is most likely the boys will not become like Scrooge because Scrooge set forth his vision for the future after being "cheated" from getting an American dime. After that Scrooge vowed to make his fortune and through that he went on countless adventures, encountered numerous enemies, and succeeded in becoming the richest duck in the world. The boys may take lessons learned from Scrooge but likely won't be just like him because Scrooge set his sights on his future knowing what he wanted most and eventually they would discover what their purpose is or what they wish to accomplish for themselves.
If water carries memory how are the trolls able to manipulate memory so well they didn't even mess with water in Anna's brain

The problem with this is that Scrooge wouldn't have any nostalgic attachment to Halloween. Living in the UK, I have never been trick or treating. It just wasn't done till at least the last 3 years. Now he would have emotional attachment to Christmas, as that was historically taken away from Scotland for a number of years.
Scrooge is from Scotland, but he came to the US when he was very young. He wasn't even a teenager when he arrived at the US. He was still a kid.
So, yes, he would have some nostalgia for Halloween, I think. Heck, he may have been involved in making it like he was with Christmas.

I wonder if Della will do more as she was underutilized in the last Season and her constant fights with her meek brother should maybe put her to thinking that maybe all that she is doing may not be the best for raising her children and acting recklessly will maybe make her think about her actions.

Anyone else notice that it said that James Marsters was the voice of the vampire, but he didn't sound like James Marsters? I liked that they casted Doug Jones as the Wereduck; it wouldn't be a Halloween special without him.

I think Louie seems like he should be running the company, but I don't think he can do everything Scrooge since he doesn't enjoy adventures as much Dewey and doesn't love the pursuit of knowledge as much as Huey.

@Lps Sunkist Blast in my opinion he has the most similarities to Scrooge and he is very adventurous. He would make has family proud of his work. That is why I think he can run the company. If you have different opinions than me that’s totally ok.

Hi. This comment is about the newest episode of Ducktales season 3? In the fight scene between Webby and Beakley, Beakley was afraid of betrayal. Maybe Beakley was traumatised after learning about the betrayal of Webby's parents, so she can't trust even her family.... meaning that Webby's parents must work for fowl. Pls feature this in a vid.

You know Disney should make a series showing 10yrs after the last episode of ducktales when they raid f.o.w.l where they carry on scrooges legacey and they have their own wifes and kids and they have formed a adventuring team and work together and go on around the world adventures to have more new characters and another great ducktales adventuring series i would love to see this from disney

I hope this comment doesn't spoil anything , but knowing that F.O.W.L is the main antagonist of this season , and how they were revealed in the last season finale, i have this feeling that something big might happen to Scrooge and it'll hit the family hard (especially Huey ) somehow.

If you don't separate the three specials (Woo-oo, The Shadow War and Moonvasion) into two stand alones, you got 47 episodes only for season 1 and 2. Plus 10 episodes already aired from season 3, but if I'm not wrong season 3 hasn't been uploaded yet in any country. You can search for the episodes list on Wikipedia or the Ducktales wiki.

Unfortunately Huey never got an arc. Season 3 was too short, and Huey was only shown just a tiny bit more than the rest of the protagonists.
