- Allentown is a city in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. It is Pennsylvania's third-most-populous city and the 233rd-largest city in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 118,032. As of 2019, it is the fastest growing major city in Pennsylvania with an estimated 121,442 residents. It is the county seat of Lehigh County and the largest city in the metropolitan area known as the Lehigh Valley. The city, founded in 1762, celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2012. Located on the Lehigh River, Allentown is the largest of three adjacent cities (Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton) in Northampton and Lehigh counties that make up the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania. Allentown is approximately 55 miles north of Philadelphia, 75 miles south of Scranton and the Wyoming Valley, 80 miles east of Harrisburg, and 85 miles west of New York City.
This superb video gives a viewer an excellent look at the appearance of Allentown. The slightly less than an hour trip visits all of the different sections on Allentown, the West End, the Downtown, the East Side and the Southern Portion. One can see the residential architecture in the different neighborhoods. There are the row homes closer to the Downtown which were mostly built roughly between 1880 and 1930 and then there are the single family homes built after World War II, mostly between 1945 and 1975 after which most of the space within the city limits had been built on. In recent years there have been apartment and condo buildings built in the Downtown as part of the trend of moving back into cities. Over the past 40 years Allentown has become more ethnically diverse and the economy has shifted from heavy manufacturing to technology and warehousing. The city has dealt with some challenges but overall the outlook for Allentown in my opinion is positive.

No. You are starting actually at Dorney Park / Wildwater Kingdom which is technically South Whitehall Township. The actual border for entering Allentown is at the stop sign that comes up at the 1:27 mark. (Note the Blue sign on the left telephone pole announcing 'Allentown'.) He is basically coming into the "West End of Allentown" [ 8:00 position, then driving over to the "East End of Allentown".] At about the 11:00 mark, he makes a left and heads north. Had he stayed on Hanover Ave. for another six or seven blocks, he would have crossed into Bethlehem, which is Allentown's "Sister-City". It's funny, but he goes up to Union Blvd, and takes a right, goes a number of blocks and takes another right, back down to Hanover Ave., where he makes another right (thus he has made a loop). When he comes back over the Lehigh River, he (17:10) is entering "Downtown Allentown". Then he zig-zags through the "heart of Allentown", until at 35:44 crossing over into "The Southside". At 37:34 he could have made a left and gone about 15 blocks and still be in Allentown. He never gets into the true "West End" where all the larger homes are and the millionaires live. These would lie west of Muhlenberg College. The original "West End" ended at the Fairgrounds, 17th Street.

I want to know which is the best area to live within allentown they told me that between the streets 2da to 13 st the Gordon, liberty, Jordan, Allen, thilgman all those that are between those streets are bad is this real ?
Stay away from center city ... try Lehigh valley, Easton and some parts of Bethlehem. Trust me
