Anyone feeling bad for Eduardo should know that Eduardo owns about 2% of the company right now and has been selling his shares for billions of dollars. I would guess he had 4-5% of the company before he started selling. It sucks that he didn't get more, but at least he's a billionaire
Maybe, but Facebook wasnt worth billions at that time. Do we feel SORRY for him? No. But theres no denying what a slimy prick Zuckerberg is. I can imagine right now that the only friends he does have are the ones who are only there because of his money. Quite fitting, really
Matthew Boyle yeah but the film goes out of its way to prove that mark doesn’t particularly care about those sort of possessions but I think in reality he does care about those things quite a lot considering his lifestyle he lives
What about the fact that he's being viciously manipulated here? As someone who has been in Eduardo's position, I can't not feel super sorry for him, so maybe that's just me. But I don't know that being a billionaire would make what happened to him hurt any less.
"Zombieland" actually came out in 2009, but good joke. And, dang, "Zombieland" feels as though it came out ages ago whereas "The Social Network" feels like it came out in 2014.

"My father won't even look at me." A throwaway comment but there's a whole Fincher scene taking place in your mind right there where Eduardo's father is maybe being nice and talking to him but faking his enjoyment of seeing his son and secretly wishing he'd go home.
Yes Eduardo needed his own attorney to look over the agreements. Look great writing as usual from Aaron Sorkin but remember his interpretation of the story not necessarily what actually happened.
That's the truth you idiot. Besides your parents, you shouldn't trust anyone. I've been betrayed by my closest multiple times and it's really rare to be close with someone morally correct all the time
The morale of this is be careful who you trust, Mark was a snake from the start and Eduardo was an idiot for taking his word for it. Hell even your own family can betray you if they have a rotten nature, you have to be a good judge of character.
Yes I agree. Even your family can betray you, that's why it is important you get the measure of them early on just to see if your parents truly are loyal
So true goodfellas stating it best "So your murderers come with smiles. They come as your friends, the people who have cared for you all of your life, and they always seem to come at a time when you're at your weakest and most in need of their help"
Love the way the lawyers look at each other when Eduardo says mark doesn't care about money so he needs to be protected, as if to say "he's not the only one"
Because he'd rather have that money while he can use it. It's perfectly logical, and I don't doubt that most of the people who criticize him for not doing that now would do the same in his shoes.
also because the majority of that "money" isn't actually cash but rather value in Facebook Stock, which if he were to sell off, he may lose control of the company.
George Hamilton do you have any idea of just how much billion is let alone 64 billion? That sort of money is enough to live hundreds of thousands of lifestyles in which you spend recklessly and wastefully and even by the end of those lifetimes you’d have plenty of money left over!! He has more money than a human being requires at one given time it’s absolutely ridiculous!! While I agree with the notion that people shouldn’t tell him what to do with his money, the argument that he wants the money while he can still use it is ridiculous because he has almost literally unlimited money at this rate!! Even if a lot of the money is in assets and stocks, the money in his bank account is still ludicrously high!
I’d never stab a best friend nor any person in the back to get to the top. Goes to show how terrible some (if not most) people at the top in reality are
The reason why i love this scene soo much is.. mark had more ambition about the company then he did. All he saw was the profit side of it from the start.
Many think this as a back stabbing but only a person who starts a business understand. When I started a business I partnered with my friend who is very close to me we go to movies, dinner everywhere together but after starting the business he take unnecessary leave, show no respect towards our vision. He doesn't even care about anything he still the old himself Then I found out business and friends are no match. Now he is my biggest enemy.
Ok but Eduardo didn't do any of that. Even when the company moved out to California, Eduardo was still working on the East coast trying to get advertisers and investors for Facebook. He didn't neglect his job at all. Zuckerberg just got manipulated by Sean Parker into cutting Eduardo out of the company. A company which Eduardo put all the money up for and therefore was entitled to his 30% at a minimum.
He was naive, not the general naivity kind but the one that you have wuth your friends and family. I do that too eventhough I heard of a lot of people get backstabbed like that
Mark literally traded a true friend, stabbed him and just for the sake of new investors and "friends" Eduardo was insulted, it's not about money it's about trust and friendship. Look at Mark right now lifeless face.
It intrigues me that Eduardo ask Mark if he remembered the algorithm formula that he wrote on the window. Was that his way of hinting at Mark about his contribution in all of it??? Just a thought.
It was asked before the conflict. Mark didnt answer the question. So I guess Mark had planned to kick Eduardo out back in Harvard. He used his best friend for money. In the movie, Eduardo kept using "us" "we" when discussed about the project. And what did we hear from Mark? Not a single word. In addition, Eduardo was always the guy who knew nothing. Mark didnt say anything to him untill he found out by himself. To Mark, his friend is nothing but a money volunteer for him to make use of. Talking as a whole, this movie is awesome.

and u expect me to trust facebook with my information, nice joke.
why not
This comment aged poetically
I don't really trust that lizard
This film is perfectly cast. ‘I was your only friend’. Heartbreaking
And I thought I was a snake for leaving my friends in a video game
😂😂
And i thought i was a snake for leaving my uncle talking outside the house because he was making fun of me.
Lol
Im sorry sir but you are
And don't forget Noah Glass, the guy who started Twitter. He was betrayed by Jack Dorsey.
Jack Dorsey looks like a homeless person they randomly picked up in the Bay area.
D C agreed shows you what greed and money does to some people
Matthew Boyle yeah but the film goes out of its way to prove that mark doesn’t particularly care about those sort of possessions but I think in reality he does care about those things quite a lot considering his lifestyle he lives
What about the fact that he's being viciously manipulated here? As someone who has been in Eduardo's position, I can't not feel super sorry for him, so maybe that's just me. But I don't know that being a billionaire would make what happened to him hurt any less.
I’m sorry, billions of dollars don’t make up for being betrayed by your best friend
Eduardo was the sweetest
I was you’re only friend. You had one friend. I love that scene.
2010: the year Lex Luthor screwed over Peter Parker and then hooked up with Gwen Stacy during a zombie apocalypse.
"Zombieland" actually came out in 2009, but good joke. And, dang, "Zombieland" feels as though it came out ages ago whereas "The Social Network" feels like it came out in 2014.
And 2010 is also the year Gwen became Easy A and then 2012 she fell in love with Peter Parker
@@DreamyCityGirl Then 2016 comes along and he tries to manipulate Tony Mandez into killing Napoleon Solo.
Crazy this is 11 years old. Feels like yesterday I saw this in theatres.
In all honesty, Mark did backstab Eduardo. If it wasn’t for him the startup would’ve taken longer without Eduardo’s money. I use Facebook but I also believe Eduardo didn’t deserve what happened to him.
i dont even use facebook before i knew this movie existed, after this i made mys4elf sure that i wouldnt use it at all(i know its not 100% true but still)
Today is Andrew Garfield’s birthday, I just wanted to say I loved His performance in this movie.
"My father won't even look at me."
A throwaway comment but there's a whole Fincher scene taking place in your mind right there where Eduardo's father is maybe being nice and talking to him but faking his enjoyment of seeing his son and secretly wishing he'd go home.
What was Eduardo's relationship with his father IRL?
It was a heartbreaking moment and the one I remember most about the movie.
We need a sequel to this movie talking about the disaster that is the metaverse !
And the multiple genocides Facebook fueled 😶
Andrew Garfield has such a powerful acting game. Absolutely stunning.
it's peter parker or desmond doss
Andrew Garfield
CHASE MAN too much money is meaningless, sure it's something that nobody will admit but you can't spend all of it meaningfully.
Robie Marzan It's Spider-Man!
I love both films... Hacksaw ridge more though!
@@Lucy-zw8gg Its a tie. Cause I am too spoiled.
When he said "my father won't even look at me" that hit me
"I was your only friend. You had…one friend".
It is terrifying how good the Trent Reznor / Atticus Ross score is in this movie.
@Maggie Lynn the entire score.
Jesse and Andrew absolutely NAILED there roles in this movie.
Yes Eduardo needed his own attorney to look over the agreements. Look great writing as usual from Aaron Sorkin but remember his interpretation of the story not necessarily what actually happened.
He betrayed him so easily...that hurt me the most in this movie
Lesson: Don't sign the damn papers shown to you by corporate lawyers.
Always read a contract before you sign it

When you don't know how to deal with people, you can't pretend to be someone you are not
When you don't know how to deal with people, you can't pretend someone you are not

When you don't know how to deal with people, you can't pretend to be someone you are not
Let's clap to this idiot squad.
sometimes you're just having an Eduardo day
guys never trust your friends specially those closest to you.
You shouldn't trust nothing not even yourself not even me. I'm choking the chicken right now because girls are useless
Funny people believe mark will give up his billions to charity when he dies id like to know why not now?
Didn't anyone watch the Adam ruins everything video on billionaires & charities? These are all PR stunts. Warren buffet, Mark Assholeberg etc.
Charity to his children and grandchildren
This is why you never mix friends and business. My uncle got backstabbed by a close friend he was in business with.
That subtle look between those two guys when he said "Mark needs to be protected" 👀
I’d never stab a best friend nor any person in the back to get to the top. Goes to show how terrible some (if not most) people at the top in reality are
That’s OK. Eduardo had the last laugh. His net worth has exploded the last couple of years. Eduardo is up to $17.6 billion versus $2.8 for Sean.
he also ripped off the government for hundreds of thousands of tax dollars by renouncing his citizenship
he is a wonderful guy
@@thewkovacs316the gormint is a scamm
The reason why i love this scene soo much is.. mark had more ambition about the company then he did. All he saw was the profit side of it from the start.
Cant agree with you more
Yes a business man , money making business
The subtle accent that Andrew put on in this movie UGHHH he’s amazing
If only Eduardo had looked at the papers more carefully he wouldn’t have gotten royally screwed
He was naive, not the general naivity kind but the one that you have wuth your friends and family. I do that too eventhough I heard of a lot of people get backstabbed like that
seems almost illegal because the lawyers acted as if they worked for him
0:50 PARKER!
0:55 PETER!
devender dua very astute of you
Wow you found my name
you can tell how awful Zuckenberg as person is by watching his Senate Hearing, you don`t have to be smart to smell his lie
Edurado is loved and Zuckerberg is hated, that's the difference
That's a serious Adams Apple swallow 2:25
mark doesnt care about money but he needs to be protected
Why anyone would trust or like Zuckerberg to this day is beyond me.
manipulative people know how to get under people skin.but they also know how to pull them into them
In hindsight, this movie made Zuckerberg look like a much better person than he is in real life.
'Sucker'berg The Reptile: Shapeshifts all the time.
Never go work at same company where your friends work there also. I thought everyone knew this
1:25 this hit a nerve.
Imagine stabbing your best friend in the back. Some people don't deserve the air on this earth.
Those Facebook lawyers are the very definition of sleazy
This is why Andrew became Spiderman so that he can beat up The Lizard.
"Mark doesn't care about money".
Welp .
Meanwhile in an aliternate universe- Peter parker was a billionaire but never became spiderman
Turns out this was the continuing events of the amazing Spider-Man 2
After watching the movie the first time I investigated and then I watched it again, and man! Eduardo didn't deserve this kind of treason
Mark literally traded a true friend, stabbed him and just for the sake of new investors and "friends" Eduardo was insulted, it's not about money it's about trust and friendship. Look at Mark right now lifeless face.
He is souless.
“I was your only friend” speaks volumes to the betraying and cruelly manipulative methods of the Zucker
It intrigues me that Eduardo ask Mark if he remembered the algorithm formula that he wrote on the window. Was that his way of hinting at Mark about his contribution in all of it??? Just a thought.
Or both
It was asked before the conflict.
Wasn't that algorithm for the other app they made, where you can choose which girl is hotter?
he was just thinking back on the humble beginnings that started it all
money and friends don't go well together
Never work with friends
At the end of the day, Ed parted ways and Facebook is dying.
_I think he made a right decision._
I am having a lot of trouble seeing that actor from hacksaw ridge in other films
" Mark does not care about money and he needs to be protected ", ... OUCH!
This movie made Eduardo seem like an Angel; he tried advertising other companies on Facebook without Mark’s or Anyone else’s permission. Anyways they’ve reconciled somewhat
Now we have ads on fb. Ironic
@@dfed324 Yup. Eduardo was just short sighted at the time. Ads didn't make sense in the early days when it was just college students and pure social interaction. Once FB became a tool for surveillance and marketing/news the ads made sense.
i cant imagine the betrayal....from my best friend...
The horrible thing is that mark knew he had just signed his life away, and he kept up the “best friend” facade and pretended to still be boys and pretended that everything just became amazing for both of them and “you gotta come back, we’re having a party for a million members” and basically acted like everything was all good KNOWING Eduardo had just signed his entire Facebook life away. Disgusting. Mark is a scumbag pos and I’m glad I don’t have Facebook.
Imagine being such a horrible person they have to make a movie about how you screwed over your friends
