I love the comparison between historic and current images of my birthplace Kota Kinabalu! Once I finish high school soon, I would like to work as an ambulance driver at Tuaran Hospital, so I could always drive the ambulance (my favorite vehicle), all the way to Kota Kinabalu on every single day! 😍
God bless you my friend.. Watching all these pictures makes me want to go back to the past.. Life was so much better back then . Look at us now!!! Even though we were poor but happy.. Where is the Time Machine??? 😞😖
I am 61 years this year (Inanam boy); this makes me nostalgic and pine for a slower, quieter and gentler KK/Jesselton. One passing note though: I have never seen a old picture of the town market when it was really a wet/fresh produce market.
I stayed in KK for almost a year in late 1981 at Luyang. When I first arrived it was at the old airport near Tanjung Aru. Nearby was a horse racing club (or rather pony race). I wonder if its still there. The State Mosque was still new when I arrived. Used to stay at Hyatt Hotel and the old Shagri-la Hotel nearby a railway track. Every morning can hear the train whistle passing by. Recently managed to watch KK aerial view uploaded in TH-cam. KK had changed and developed a lot since the past 40 yrs. Can't identify much of the city landmarks when I was there. Hope to visit KK soon to walk down memory lane.
Very good effort to show "then" and "now" photos. The former Milimewa supermarket's building was the old Jesselton market, wondering if anyone has a photo of it. I remember we bought mee goreng there, wrapped in big leaf...sedap!
Thank you sir. I never knew that former Milimewa was an old Jesselton market. Thanjs for sharing. Here is the part 2 th-cam.com/video/qkQP1zQD4TU/w-d-xo.html
The very pleased is to see the same tree, growing into a ginormous old tree, and they had the opportunity to see all the establishments, if they could prattle, the tale would be woeful
Waiting to experience the place I was born as soon as possible once everything is much safer for us all. I only have pictures from the 80’s. And tried not to look into KK too much as I want it to be a surprise. I feel that a part of me won’t rest until I have visited. Thank you for this interesting video ☺️
The pictures are so beautiful...I prefer this kind of development which enrich the culture instead of the proud skyscrapers. One thing foresure is the infrastructure of transportation system should be well developed for the benefits of all.
GAMBAR2 LAMA JAUH SEBELUM WUJUDNYA "MALAYSIA", Waktu itu sabah North borneo TIDAK KENAL PERKAUMAN, TIDAK KENAL HASUTAN KAUM,TIDAK KENAL BERPUAK2, setelah kedatangan UMNO..maka rakyat sabah DIPECAHKAN mengikut kaum dan sentimen kaum dan agama mula dimainkan dan ditiupkan utk kawalan kelangsungan kuasa PERSEKUTUAN..
agree sir, in fact the whole site can be properly develop as a conserved historical site. Bet it gonna be a great tourist site for local and international.

I think I have seen one and got a copy, if you mean the Pasar Besar. Will be including it in the 2nd part of this video. Thank you sir
Look out for the long-gone old market stalls that sat opposite the old KK courthouse complex.

If my country ruled Sabah, I doubt Kota Kinabalu would have progress this far. Congrats!

Feel sad for sabah that can't rule own country and still colonized by malaya
