This video needs to be preserved so future generations also watch and learn how civilized and well cultured the candidates and interviewers were. Students used to read lot of books like Competition success, etc and keep them self updated from newspapers daily. Those were the days of innocence when an interview used to be conducted with lot of mutual respect for the candidate and interviewer. Today we see lot of arrogance and corruption has seeped in all walks of life. Hats of to Mr. Usmani.
No idea why corruption is treated as a new thing in India. Corruption has been there in India for a long time. Yes u could've said quality of education was way better before but corruption isn't a new phenomena at all. And about the method or preparation, there were limited resources before which I would say made it way simpler than it is now when we've coachings, 100s of books and 100s of other things on the internet.

Javed Usmani studied in the same school where i studied i.e. Naurangi lal govt inter college, Aligarh. He did intermediate from this school and got 1st rank in UP board exam. In 1982 he was posted in Aligarh as chief development officer, he used to come to our school as chief guest, he would touch the feet of his old teachers who taught him. At that time PL Punia was DM of Aligarh. In our school magazine in 1983 there was a photo of Javed usmani receiving gold medal from then UP chief minister Ram Naresh Yadav for being state topper in intermediate exam.
@@TKS_UPSC_Study yes, this video is a surprise gift for me as i was looking for his younger days photo and i never expected to see his interview video. He was our school days ideal. I never saw him, i only heard about him from my teachers. So, until now i was very curious to know how he looked when he was young. Those days we used to see his photos in local newspaper which were not very clear and perhaps Jawed usmani used to wear sunglasses most of the time. But from his old photo in my school magazine taking gold medal from chief minister, i guessed he was very good looking young man.
This interview should be seen multiple times to get to the gist of the knowledge, it's interpretation and tackling of the questions, especially the one in which the Madam puts the question, he asks her to elaborate, and then reinterprets the question in his own words and then finally answers at his own terms. These navigational skills are the one, everyone should work upon. Altogether, great conversational skills and something to learn for anyone facing interviews in any walk of life.
Like this interview, UPSC should also for the benefit of student community who are preparing for IAS upload interviews of ist rank holders to give a glimpse of actual interview happening in upsc cabin. Gr8 interview in black and white background.
This interview looks little better than today's, still not enough to match the working nature of an IAS officer handles And today it is totally asynchronous
Eventual topper of pre-1979 scheme of exam. I wonder how much he scored in the interview. During those days weightage of interview was higher. That pattern was better and produced better quality of officers, in my personal opinion.
A good insight into this process. The composure of the candidate and his reply without much of negativity was the highlight. The post could have shown the complete interview than just a small part.
Actually this is the real problem with our administration. Exactly, Without any doubt ..
In 1978 there was no internet, yet his knowledge and level of intellect is far better than those of today's candidates.... excellent Sir..
Exactly ! 🤔 ..
Agree really knowledgeable guy
Real knowledge from newspaper, not from internet...serious upsc aspirants prefer newspaper still today.
No doubt , specially Express & Hindu .
This is a rehearsal.
Videography of such interviews were neither allowed in those days, nor today.
I was fortunate enough to work under Mr. Usmani. He is a person of deep knowledge. He is a thorough gentleman a great officer. Respect for him.

He must be retired now , righT?
