Thanks! Next weekend I planned to go to Brigantine proper, not the bridges on the way this time. As far as I know it doesn't have a name. Let's hope I can actually crab/fish there and it's not private property or something. Lol
Thanks! The format will stay mostly the same but unfortunately crabbing season closes soon in NJ and all the crabs will hibernate for the winter. During the off season I'll still release content though, weather permitting, where I'll be attempting to try my luck at fishing.
What a beautiful area!!! Glad you're sharing this because as an older person I can see that I would be able to have access to the necessary facilities and easily get on the pier to fish or to crab. Never thought about things like that when I was younger but age crept up on me and there are only a few places I have access to now. Love this place and love how you cover all the crabbing places you've gone to. Some I can see how I would be able to access them and others it would be to difficult. Great job in covering all the amenities so me or others would know if the places you go are places they would want to go. I watch other crabbing videos but I don't recall any of the others going into so much detail as to where they are and what amenities are there as far as accessibility, restrooms,etc. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.♥
Glad you liked it! It is a really nice place and everywhere I could see is wheelchair accessible as well, which is a nice touch by the township. I'm sure during the "on" season that place would be packed though.
I'm surprised too. I'm glad the water temp is holding though. It means the keepers might actually hold out the full season. Last year it got pretty cold early on and all the crabs dug in and disappeared.
Tony....Dan here. I'm sorry but I couldn't stop laughing when you caught your trap. Do you think its possible a crab dragged your bait into the trap? Awesome video as always👍
Hey Dan! It's possible. I changed to a 2oz pyramid sinker it it held fast. I think next time I'll try bloodworms too. I really have no idea what I'm doing. Lol. I just keep throwing everything at it in hopes of finding what works. Then again I watch a lot of fishing videos and sometimes they go out multiple days because they don't catch anything. I only have Sunday to make it work. I guess it's a little unrealistic to think it's always my lack of skill as the reason for not catching fish.
Just show up with traps and chicken an have some fun! Do it soon though. Season closes November 30th. They ask you to register but I seriously doubt many do.
Back to chicken for crabs, no frozen sand fleas, 1/0-4/0 circle hooks by mustard, gamakatsu or owner,pyramid & coin weights NO BANK SINKERS THEY ROLL & WILL SPIN YOUR LINE..Wayne
I'll pick up more chicken for next trip. Are the frozen sand fleas garbage? If so I'll toss them. I'm using gamakatsu 1/0 and 4/0 now. I'll stick with coin sinkers. it's pretty much everything I use when catfishing. What should I be using for bait? I usually try to use what I can get from Shoprite. I do pick up bait when I can but most shops just seem to have random bait, like the frozen sand fleas.
@slingshotcrabbing froze sandfleas are just below ok for bait give them a crack sothe scent drifts( think chum slick) i think ur better off with bloodworm scent fishbites over sandfleas. If u can find it get some FINESSENCE brand shedder crab oil & marinate ur squid in that over night in a zip lock bag. Minnows are all year bait never let a shop owner talk u out of them, if he or she does they are trying to dump old froze bait ( sandfleas) that they can't sell or coz they don't have quality minnows or bloodworms.

Use Fishbites with small strong J- hooks for bottom fish ..

Try some blue crab for bait.
I had planned to do just that and even asked if was an ok substitute for fodder or mud crabs. But I forgot to bring some. 😭
