I've only just discovered this for the first time. Excellent entertainment. Hat's off to Clive to achieve so much in a short time, with the help of a succession of excellent trainers. Passing the driving test in a week was no mean achievement either. Sobering to watch late greats and legends, like Moss, Senna, Hunt and my hero Barry Sheene, who were so prominent in my youth .
I was born in 1977. Clive James TV show about the news (on BBC or HTV I think) was one of my favorite shoes. Between him and Fry and Laurie, my sense of humor was formed. I always found Clive James voice very soothing. Excellent video.
how to be a racing driver- Clive James with Stirling Moss, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Alan Jones, James Humt, and Barry Sheen and Bernie Ecclestone pit crew- including footage of Goodwood Motor Circuit before LM brought it back to life... marvellous!
Great guy, Clive James. If you haven't read any of his books, especially his Unreliable Memoirs - and especially the second one Falling Towards England - you have missed something special.
Great to see a throwback to my childhood once again , had me laughing out loud throughout , miss them all , thankyou so much for taking the trouble to post it as it means a lot to me & I'll bet many others too 🎉
When Clive got stressed, his accent goes straight back to one I haven't hear in years. He sounds like the old synthetic Cricket broadcasts from the ABC from before the undersea cables went in. When I was a kid, everyone spoke like that in 1972. Oh, an' Steerlink Mouse..put on a shirt. Judi Greene is already off on a square rigger with Alby Mangels making world Safari films.
"There was a time I got hot under the collar if critics said I had nothing to say. Now I realise that they had a point. My field is the self-evident. Everything I say is obvious, although I like to think that some of obvious things I have said were not so obvious until I said them."
Very very sadly missed, I loved his book and his wit. I recall a tale about 6 four year olds tethered together on home made go carts. Clive was at the tail whip end, hilarious
"I think I would have qualified higher up if I'd not been given so much advice". Classic! There were some other brilliant nuggets from the racing driver's handbook of "rationalizations".
Loved Clive James' dry and sarcastic wit. Almost bumped into Stirling at the Goodwood Revival. I turned around and almost knocked him over. He didn't acknowledge me. Why would he. Awesome to see him though in some of his last races.

This was broadcast in 1988 if anyone was wondering.
I was. Thanks. 🤗
I was.
I was too.
Two masters of their craft, who left the world a better place than they found it. Rest easy.
More than any other, single human, Clive James got me hooked on Formula One back in the 1980's.
R.I.P..

As an Appalachian American, I'd never experienced Clive. He's definitely a character. Love this
His book, "Unreliable Memoirs" is an excellent read.

Clive had such a way with words 😊
This was fantastic. Never heard of Clive before this but he is incredibly witty. Must check out more of his stuff.

Highway Signs:
Sir Stirling Moss: "If you see one of those crosses up, what does that mean?"
Clive James:" Someone died?"
Classic 😂🤣😂

A great piece of work...I love Clive's command of English and his distinct style of story telling.
His narration of the FIA 1982 World Championship wrap up video is outstanding.

Clive James was very witty. Stirling Moss ever the ladies' man, chatting up Miss Australia, shirtless! Great vid.
Thanks for posting this. I have not seen it since it was first aired. RIP Clive
Always loved Clive James
“I had a swim this year” 😂😂
Clive James ....what a funny man
A great wordsmith left us. I would say something dry and witty but that was something that Clive knew best.

Rest in peace Clive.

To be held aloft by Alan Jones and Stirling Moss yes Clive you had made it R.I.P
Absolutely fucking hilarious. Clive... so missed by everyone but especially TV.
Brilliant
At least Stirling was honest
Clive so funny. Still
Ah, the 80's. When, for some ungodly reason, people thought it was a good idea to tuck shirts into jeans.
It's no worse than jeans with bloody great rips in them ..

Poor old Clive. Everything he said was calculated to extract pity from the viewer. Journalism, eh? He would have loved it.
Judith Green! She was a girl I lusted after in 1987. She was part of Muhammad's prodigy while I produced his show "Charlie Brown".
I thought Clive was hilarious I lmao at this
