Honestly wasn't even surprised to see that yixing got no screen time during his lines in both the Korean and Chinese version. As a yixing biased fan, it's hard to accept the fact that your bias, the only Chinese member left, works his ass off every day to perfect choreography, and travels to China and back on a constant basis to pursue his acting/entertainment career, yet he only gets mere seconds of screen time and vocal parts. Does it not make sense, SM entertainment, to give the only Chinese member more lines in the CHINESE VERSION of a song? It's absolutely heartbreaking to see yixing get hate every day for being a Chinese member, be discriminated against by his entertainment company, yet still love and support EXO and the fans with all of his beautiful heart. It breaks me when a new music video comes out and yixing, like usual, only gets a few lines/a few seconds of screen time, and the worst thing is, this cycle has repeated itself so much that I'm not even surprised anymore.
I agree, and I also respect him so much for sticking with it. It must be hard, but you can tell even in his few seconds of screen time, he gives it his absolute all.

He's not only a great dancer but also an amazing vocalist, so giving him more lines would definitely not be a waste. It just upsets me how every time any of the other members are singing, they get their face shown and screen time is given, but when it comes to yixings 3 lines in the middle of the song, they give screen time to other members who already have plenty of screen time. Yes, that's totally normal. It's for a few reasons: 1) Chinese has four tones (which is necessary to understand the meaning), and tones are not articulated in music. 2) Chinese has a LOT of homonyms. 3) EXO members have an accent in Chinese. 4) And most of all, this is hip hop, and contains a lot of fast singing and some slurring, as well as some autotune. Hell, even if this was an American song, most Americans would have a hard time following the lyrics. And that also explains why almost all Chinese music videos (even native Chinese music videos) have embedded subtitles.
I honestly like the Chinese versions a lot better and I feel like their past few songs (Lucky One, Monster, and this one) have all been a LOT better in Chinese. Is this just me? Yes, that's totally normal. It's for a few reasons:
1) Chinese has four tones (which is necessary to understand the meaning), and tones are not articulated in music.
2) Chinese has a LOT of homonyms.
3) EXO members have an accent in Chinese.
4) And most of all, this is hip hop, and contains a lot of fast singing and some slurring, as well as some autotune. Hell, even if this was an American song, most Americans would have a hard time following the lyrics.
And that also explains why almost all Chinese music videos (even native Chinese music videos) have embedded subtitles.
