    You know, genuinely I have no words to describe the absolute genius of this video. The song is beautiful, the walkthrough concise yet so descriptive - everything about this video confirms my faith in great music making software, backed up by a company who genuinely want to help us composers achieve better productions. Thank you so much for sharing - I feel inspired!

    What an amazing video Colin. After all these years AGE is still among the best and most “original” stuff you’ve sampled. Love the composition, love the breakdown and sharing of ideas. Love the execution of putting it all in this very entertaining video. THIS is how you sell a library. Kudos!

  • @grahamdavidsouthern1814

    This piece is awesome. Did you have all of these patches assembled as a template before writing it? Or were you adding instruments as you progressed?

    • @8dioproductions
      @8dioproductions  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question and maybe one we should cover in greater depth. This was created uniquely for the track, however, it can be great to have a full orchestral template for saving time too. But mostly for sample libraries, we like to build fresh templates to highlight the library itself, which this is a great example of.

  • @nyunuubu8111
    @nyunuubu8111 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's a shame that you don't offer custom bundles. I was thinking of getting agitato strings, lacrimosa, flute bundle and studio sopranos. atleast to start with these.

  • @crispinhands7053
    @crispinhands7053 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Colin, your work is incredible. The AGE libraries are high on my list now. One question: I notice that you have a track at the top of the window called "live" - what is that used for? I often struggle with latency in Logic using high instrument counts and wondered if this was related to that?

    • @colinomalley
      @colinomalley 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crispin Hands Crispin - I think we spoke years ago regarding a video game score (-: If a virtual instrument or audio track is selected in Logic it causes problems when there are lots of instruments in the session. I just have a "live" track which is basically an external midi track pointing to nothing. I select it during playback so things run more smoothly. Lots of Kontakt instruments bog things down in pretty much any DAW we've found. Troels and I have both moved back to offloading most of our templates to a slave DAW....Someday 1 machine, but not yet...at least with Kontakt.

    • @crispinhands7053
      @crispinhands7053 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Colin, that's a great idea. I currently run a few slaves with VEPro but it suffers from the same issue as Kontakt so far. Only so many instances can happen. Definitely going to try the live track trick. I also switched to an RME interface recently which made a big difference in latency/cpu performance.
      I'm curious - do you tend to work with templates or just build as you go each time?

    I would love to know the specs of your machine and your DAW settings. Almost 70 tracks, albeit not all at once but still pretty nice considering. I noticed your CPU meter it right at it's max.
    I like recording everything at least 48k 24bit. and would like to know if it is feasible on my rig.
    Awesome work btw...

    • @colinomalley
      @colinomalley 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I was this running session on a 2008 Mac Pro with 32 gigs of RAM. I normally have a slave PC handle some of the load, but it wasn't necessary for this piece. I find the CPU meter in Logic is not usually accurate (compared to the Apple system monitor version). I generally had plenty of system resources when working on this song. . I was rarely pushing to the max.

    • @djRoyalTee
      @djRoyalTee 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colin O'Malley Thx for the quick reply. Appreciate it. I found your setup on the 8dio site. I take it that is the same rig...Interesting about the CPU meter. I left logic once they went PC and am currently using Cubase 8 and love it.
      Again, thx for the reply...
