I think that a child is better off with a responsible father and mother. There are values I got from my father on one hand and other values from my mother. Two good heads are always better than one. However, if circumstances cause single parenthood then the subjects shouldn’t be put under a microscope but encouraged and supported.

I will say both sides are right, Host and clalers, I will say that marriage is good if you're lucky enough to get a good spouse and can be regrettable to either party if they are so unlucky, African has a problem with tradition it is true our way of life mostly in Nigeria about the family union is loveable but not everyone is cut for marriage, and it can not be approached with the one-yard stick, we can not approach every situation with the same measure, and that's why it is dangerous to judge people from afar. Not all married wives are good mothers so also not all single mothers are bad mothers, I will fault a marriage that brought in a child without the means to care for the child than to fault a single mother with means for which that child can live a comfortable life.

Marriage marriage, there are African women who put up with abusive and narcissistic behaviour from their husband behind close doors so individuals within the community would not judge them. Madness! There are married couples raising children who are giving society challenges just like there are single parents raising children who are problematic to society.

I think the challenge today is that women seem to have lost their sense of values. Those values were what made our parents wonderful and our youths stupid. There is a reason why it takes a father and a mother raise a child. The USA that you refer to as the standard is suffering from it today.

    • @factsandopinions577

@@co6429 so it's not a problem if you disagree or you already migrating there. The reality of the parenting experience is better leaved than theorized. Just put your ears down and listen to what goes on in the black community. If you don't feel challenged by it raise your kids that way. I am proud of the values instilled in me by my parents and you can't put a price on it.

@@factsandopinions577 You have a point and I concede to it. However if both parents are around, there are culturally assigned roles that helps to balance a child's perspective more. Most of the mothers are very instinctive and resourceful. Most Fathers are virtuous and diligent. This and a mix of certain virtues not polluted by the west and treasured by us help us stand out. If you were raised here properly you would not want to be associated with the mess that parenting is fast becoming there. As for leadership we learnt this so called democracy from them. They are not corruption free.

If you listen to them objectively, you would understand where they are coming from. They disserted the issue to understand why single hood exist. That last caller is religious so you wouldn't expect otherwise. Bcee hit the nail on the coffin by criticizing Hassan's comment. I have seen families were both parent don't have time for their kids neither do they show love . The key ingredient is showing love to the child which is lacking in this generation. To buttress further, Morayo talk about a Christian lady who has been virgin till she got to her early 40's. She wasn't married ( men where not asking for her hand in marriage) yet she decides a child. Would you say that she shouldn't have a child?. The level of hypocrisy is too alarming especially in Nigeria. They frown against polygamy yet they people's daughter to be first wife. What happens to other women, who will marry them? They condemn single hood yet they critic polygamy, haba

@@edowitch4703 I can tell this is a touchy subject for you. They made some valid points for some single mothers But again single motherhood should not be encouraged. You can encourage single mothers without encouraging single motherhood. Just my opinion.
there are things that a child need emotionally from both parents. There are plenty of children dealing with daddy issues today because their father was not present in their lives.
I don’t know any single mothers who would prefer single motherhood. Usually Circumstances lead them there...

I dont know what that caller Hassan was yanning. Being married doesn't mean you are giving a child good training. He is saying those single moms think they are okay and arrogant cos they have money......
Can I ask a question how many of the so called married men are involved with thier child's upbringing, most just see thier role as to drop money and thats it. So if the men are just dropping the money and not participating in the emotional upbringing then what is the point if the woman can provide the same money herself?.
The man goes to work comes back crosses leg and watches news and that's it. Its the woman running helter attending to the needs of the kids.
So if he is just a figure head (in many cases not all) why not just delete him from the equation.
Many women enduring in thier marriags now are only doing so because the man holds the financial strings if not they would be out of ther in a heartbeat.

  • @nikeadesina9924

The statistics show single parenthood is not ideal. As much as we like to say both genders are responsible, the woman gives access to s"x, and the man to relationship. The woman still ultimately decides to have a child. The man can participate but he can't make that ultimate choice as to bring a child into the world, so the woman still has the most responsibility. Single parenting should not be 'encouraged' as the child has a right to both parents, a child is not an accessory: there are exceptions but a lot of women won't 'settle 'for a man until it's too late and then justify having a child on their own. You should have a good answer for your child when they ask for their father. The society is starting to undermine the value of Fathers just because there are some bad ones : they are just as relevant as mothers.
