Shaq showed up to training camp overweight pretty much every season. Man could have gotten in shape and been an even better player but chose not to. Doesn't sound HARD to me...sounds pretty soft actually. Kobe knew it, that's why he wanted fat Shaq off the team...

Sorry to say this but this is a bad take on Shaq. He has zero clue what he's talking about. 'The back is something you can't really check' - That is absolutely nonsense. You also can't just take some pills and play if you have a significant spinal pathology. Every injury is different and the capabilities of every individual with an injury vary significantly. I can't speak for Ben's situation as I'm not his physician, but as someone who has experienced a spinal injury and has helped others in rehab he should shut his mouth when he doesn't know what he's talking about and keep it to basketball.

I agree wholeheartedly with Shaq on Simmons. Guy gets paid max money and barely plays + is afraid to shoot. He has also carried himself in this smug manner since back when he was at LSU and its been well documented that he's always had attitude problems. And then he has the audacity to say he was struggling with mental health issues. It's pathetic.
I am not a Gobert fan but it is really unfair for him to be put in the same category as Simmons. At the very least, Gobert is active, has won multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards and has supported his team during playoff runs. Simmons is not a good player at all, at least not anymore.

So Shaq's hate of Gobert stems from the fact he is earning $200m? That's utterly ridiculous. There are 21 players with bigger contracts, guys like Beal, Anunoby, Lavine earn more. It's just a reflection of current salaries. Also, Zion is on a similar sized contract yet hardly plays and isn't in shape half the time. And talking of fitness, isn't Shaq known for showing up to training camp overweight almost every year? He's talking about playing hard? At least Gobert plays, he's suited up for over 87% of his team's games whereas Shaq played in 79% of his team's games through his career. I don't think you can win four DPOY awards and not play hard....in fact defense is much more physically taxing than offense so it's almost impossible to be a great defender and not play hard. I honestly think Shaq has no idea why he hates Gobert, he's just famous for it now and continues to play the part just to keep up appearances.
