While the work wren and stuff does is good, never forget that "your carbon footprint" was invented by BP to switch the focus to the average person while a handful of companies are responsible for the vast majority of greenhouse gas emissions, and making little changes in your own life is nothing but a drop in the bucket- we need systematic change aimed at the largest corporations. For example, 6 cruise ships are the same carbon emissions as every private car in Europe combined.

I think its good that this Topic is finally getting more attention. Usually such global events are occouring in much larger timespans, but carrington events are comparatively very common, and the only reason we never really noticed them was because at no point in history we were as technologized and dependent on electricity as we are today. Think of Small things like even the Cash register of a supermarket would stop working. No Bank/visapayments. Probably cash will be even tough when the Cash register only opens with electricity(considering also that you cant even withdraw cash at that timeperiod). Logistics will fail rather quickly because the pumping stations at gas stations will fail(allthough i could see they'd probably use a Generaor to power those). Trains will come to a halt. Most cars too that rely on electricity(but only depending on the strength of the storm, since cars are a farraday cage, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are 100% protected). If it lasts longer, heating and cooking will become a problem in countries that rely on electricity for heating. Drinking water will become an issue in countries that rely on Outside sources from other countries or Desalination plants, which will also affect their agriculture and might cause starvation.(not to mention that evne the Pumps for that water would fail) Nuclear plants are also a story of their own. They are designed to withstand such effects, but I don't wanna talk about the older ones in eastern europe, russia or other countries where corruption fucked the sturdiness of such a facility. Nothing. Like literally Nothing would work anymore. We would be literally thrown back to the Stoneage, for who knows how long. It'd be even worse than living in the 1900s, because back then people on the countryside were not always enitrely industrialized, and had their fair share of manual tools, even in forestry. Even nowadays most modern homes aren't designed with a Stove, or even an exhaust for smoke from cooking with a stove Like literally in winter Electricity dependent homes will become utterly useless in winter because they cant be heated. Those tools do not exist anymore. You will suddenly need a massive labour effort in forestry to produce enough wood for the remaining propulation for heating and housing. Massive labour in Agriculture, because machines probably wont work anymore. Everyone would start living like a hobo, washing themselfes in the nearby river, bunching up together in tents and around campfires if the modern housings cant be heated. n shit. Ofc all of this only happens if the event turns out to be as bad as mentioned. And even then Nowadays countries usualyl are already prepared for something like that and they probably could replace the burnt transformer stations rather quickly. But besides that I don't wanna know how the population starts to react if the power outage lasts for 1,2, 3 days etc...

Kurzgesagt debunked the carbon emission influence of small people. It's the corporations that are supposed to cut down on the emission. So we should stop with the self blame.
True, the very term "carbon footprint" was coined by BP to shift the blame on the consumer. While it is important for all of us to contribute to decarbonising our world, much of it will be futile if the corporations continue with business as usual. Currently, offsetting our carbon footprint simply means the corporations get to emit more. If you're truly climate conscious but refuse to fall for the corporate propaganda, I would recommend watching Our Changing Climate and Climate Town.

@@DrCrazyEvilSorry Dr, I read his comment as if this video had helped him put his dream together, foolishly i let my own experiences change the way i read it. Ive had dreams before about things and then had certain elements of that dream explained to me while awake the next day. Like if one were to dream about something that resembled a solar flare (not knowing that a solar flare is a thing that exists) and then go on to watch a Thoughty2 video the next day and learn about solar flares. Like being able to put a name to a face - you cant do it until youve met the solar flare

Kurzgesagt debunked the carbon emission influence of small people. It's the corporations that are supposed to cut down on the emission. So we should stop with the self blame.
True, the very term "carbon footprint" was coined by BP to shift the blame on the consumer. While it is important for all of us to contribute to decarbonising our world, much of it will be futile if the corporations continue with business as usual. Currently, offsetting our carbon footprint simply means the corporations get to emit more.
If you're truly climate conscious but refuse to fall for the corporate propaganda, I would recommend watching Our Changing Climate and Climate Town.
Since WE maintain big corp, its still our fault to a degree.
