Strange, the unbent tree and distant star are usually my go-to primaries for many of the raid encounters in kings fall and vault of glass. I haven't had as good results with other primaries as those two weapons in those high-ad encounters
I have actually had the opposite experience with the unbent tree for pve. Mine rolled with appended mag and focused fire. It feels kinda like a mini lmg, with focused fire I can ads and just keep the trigger pulled forever and mow down. With the slower rof and increased damage per bullet as well as the increased mag size I feel like I get a lot of mileage per clip with this gun.
I agree with your assessment I use clever dragon or distant star in crucible but switch to cryptic dragon or lyumidila-d in pve. the unbent tree was very "meh" I infused it into the doctrine of passing's little brother aka arminus-d. The counter-balance/high stability/ crowd control roll I have on my arminus serves me better in pve/pvp that the unbent tree did ( and it looks like a scar-l :) )
I must disagree on The Distant Star PvE utility. My Full Auto, Firefly Distant Star performs amazing in PvE in almost any encounter, except perhaps the raid.

yeah i didnt really illustrate how good the gun actually is. compared to the rest of the field it plays second fiddle, but it is still a really good gun. I love it on my hunter.
Xnezy Beazts I actually got a cryptic dragon with triple tap, braced frame, and firefly! that is my go to for all things pve now! basically a year 3 hung jury. I friggin love it!
Good roll idea. It's also amazing with something like braced frame, appended mag, and counter balance. I use it exclusively in PVE because its so terrific and cleaning up trash mobs. It's my go-to weapon for Archon's Forge because it has so much ammo, just hold down the trigger and spray and repeat. This archetype has always been great at this, used something similar for Omnigul farming back in the day.
I actually quite enjoy my Perfect Balance, Appended Mag, and Spray and Play. With 69 in the mag and auto rifle reload gloves+Spray and Play, there is almost no down time for damage and I don't have to care about precision shots.
Hey Patrick, can you do a video on testing high RoF auto rifles with focused fire? I have two, one on a Arminius-D with rifled barel and on one the Unbent Tree with hammer forged and snapshot. For some reason, I do better with them in both PvE and PvP than with other auto rifles, as well as with those same guns with counterbalance and a stability perk like braced frame. I know Focused Fire lowers the DPS of the gun significantly, but my suspicion is the pseudo-buffs to stability and mag size make up for it in the activities. At the very least, you could have an idea for another video, looking at just focus fire. It has been a while since the last time the perk was looked at. Maybe it has different results.Also, thanks for making such great videos and content!!!! Seeing you make your way through the streaming world day by day is... inspiring.

A summary: Don't use the Unbent Tree The Lingering Song is extremely solid The Distant Star is a good weapon The Clever Dragon is only really good in PvP, but when it comes to PvP, it is the best.
I kinda disagree with the PvE aspects of the Distant Star, I've one with high cal, smallbore, and crowd control. It gets the job done even in the raid. Then again i'm a Johnny player :P Edit: I run Gunslinger's Trance and Chain of Woe along with it.
Jacob Kaio-Hanohano Small bore on it is bad because it lowers the mag to 12 ( REALLY low ) and slows the reload speed. compared to a hung hury, cryptic dragon, or harder hitting scouts in PvE, the distant star gets beaten out
For the scout, I got full auto, but in the same column I got extended mag. I also got range finder by itself in the final column, and in the second column, I got increase stability and range option for PVP and increased mag option for PVE.
the Clorox Dragon is so frustrating to go up against because it's just a good weapon rn, but it feels awesome so shut down a team of guardians who use it in trials several times over lol. they can use the clever dragon with their Matador, I'll stick to my distant star/hawksaw with my handy dandy trespasser
I would rank distant star much higher. Mida type weapons are really top tier. Competative ttk at .9 ish. Easy to use, ttk does not go up by much for one extra shot. And i personally feel full auto is a waste on the gun.
Does Full Auto on a scout or pulse actually improve anything statistically? I prefer semi-auto on both and would not usually even consider looking for the full auto perk, but I keep hearing it put up there as one of the best perks.
My Lingering Song with explosive rounds and hidden hand is a dream to use. The combo of those two work really well imo and after learning to control the recoil, it can easily be a two shot headshot machine. Not bold enough to try it in trials yet tho.

honestly, im going to disagree, i find the unbent tree to be great in pvp and pve. i can go on long kill streaks with it, i dont have trouble with the recoil since almost ever gun i use seems to have the same recoil pattern. ive outbeat my friend who does trial carries in a 1v1 using the unbent tree. he has even used his flawless loadout against me and i still won but im absolute garbage at trials. again, this is just me, i prefer using auto rifles and excel at using them over any type of gun. i think honestly that the gun deserves more credit than what you gave it.
I got a god roll lingering song (reinforced barrel, extended mag, and firefly). The reload does take some getting used to, but hand cannon reload gauntlets really do help.

Clever Dragon is just part of a continuing line of "crutch weapons". That meaning weapons that require little skill to use or time to master before you see yourself out matching others who aren't following the meta. It's too bad that Bungie has made so many parts of it's game revolve around a certain build or weapon to the exclusion of all else
They haven't learned from Halo 2 and 3's Battle Rifle. They showed that they did with the DMR in Reach, but Clever Dragon totally disproves that they learned. Burst weapons with low recoil are always going to have an edge in games. Though to Bungie's credit, EVERYTHING gets a headshot damage boost. Unlike the Halo series.
Lance Seaman chaos dogma is better, jade rabbit is better, faster times to kill. just gotta land all headshots, except for dogma, 2 headshots 1 body to kill most guardians. it is the highest hitting scout in the game with the same rate of fire as jade rabbit

The Doctor Clever Dragon is like a poor man's Grasp cuz it's so accessible lol. Literally all of clever's stats are worse except like 2 stability. The grasp can also roll better sights and other perks. I got a god roll grasp right after the April update with 2 damage perks (Hs, Ghf, OAS, and Perfect balance) my grasp does 2-3 more damage than the dragon with better sights, and stats. The dragon can't even get that roll but you don't have to be as lucky to get a good one. I have a well rolled clever from the first ROI IB but it simply isn't as good. Trust me. I've been using the grasp since April and is melts everyone. The dragon is still a good weapon though. It so good that it shouldn't have been just handed so easily last IB. Now this archetype is gonna get nerfed I assume since everyone has one.
It doesn't matter that its base stats are a tiny slight bit weaker because 1 perk is the only thing that matters and the perk that makes the CD above and beyond GoM, and that's simply HCR, HCR CD will 99% of the time always in an equal fight in terms of skill and fire time BEAT over the most godly rolled GoM it's simple, THAT is what makes CD better than the Grasp

If a low mag is a problem for the distant star, then just get extended mags.

Chaos dogma is the fastest killing scout by a large margin too and requires the least crits.

i use the ib pulse rifle for pvp but the adept pulse for pve

The Doctor HCRs is really overrated if you put that againast my grasp (HS, GHF, PB,OAS) you do 1-4 less dmg.
