    There seem to be two types of reviews: 1.) Shiny and wonderful - if supplied to the reviewer, or 2.) all pimply and troublesome as found by those who had to purchase one over the counter, (or by mail). Thanks for the honesty.

    I very much enjoyed your review. Having seen reviews for this loco on other channels and commenting on one of them that I'm holding my breath for my long-standing pre-order of the KR Class 4DD, I'm now even more nervous! I wonder what on earth that will be like. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the delivery date keeps slipping for this model too. With ongoing negative publicity like this I really fear for the future of KR Models who should be doing all they possibly can to remedy the situation, and fast! Will they have the courage to come on here and answer some of this criticism? Come on KR Models!

    • @bluebellModelrailway
      @bluebellModelrailway  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@shanghai264359 thank you for your comment 🙂, the 4DD is the next model to be delivered... Last heard they are part way through production that was early December... I have a feeling if you see them before April you will be lucky...
      I myself would have liked a 4DD being Bulleid and different... But again alarm bells rung especially how quickly the tooled samples arrived... The window corner radius were too big... That was corrected... The top row of windows were too low.... The glazing on the prototype I saw last didn't follow the curve of the roof that well... But again I heard and read that "these were difficult because there's no drawings" well there's 2 end units you could have looked at... I hear more excuses than we need assistance on this...
      KR certainly don't help themselves... Communication poor... Research lacking... Knowledge of the model industry poor.
      I will say Keith was quick to replace the damaged model... Which is fair enough however with the amount of issues he won't have many spares.. the second on this video is ok but still not really £185 worth with so many things not right.. only positive thing I can say is it runs.
      The only way really apart from email to speak to KR is at an exhibition... Hopefully they will turn up... I know they are small... But it's better to make one excellent model at a time than several bad ones.
      I could forgive the 4 years if it was amazing and excellent..

      Great to get your response.😊I agree with all of it. There seems to be surprisingly huge interest in the 4DD considering its very limited domain in the real world. One would assume that KR Models have a whole lot riding on this model and need it to go well.I live in the London area on the Southeastern network so it's 'close to home' for me.

    Thanks, really good review it identified a lot I didn't know. I have the model modelled in black which I know it never ran in. Interesting though I didn't even realise it had whistles at the front, as on this model they failed to paint them. My coupling disintegrated when I tried to add the NEM coupling, it was then that I noticed someone had glued both of them in. Fortunately Rails sent me a replacement. I like the loco but for me detail is not everything, I am more interested how it runs. I find it amazing though that they couldn't get the wheels right I am not a "rivet counter" but even I know what a Bulleid wheel should look like. Oh and the sheet of DCC commands is wrong. I bought the sound version and the cab lights are on F4 not F19 and seeing as it is quite an easy thing to change in software you would think they would have changed it to suit the manual. On Jenny Kirk's review on the pre production one it was F4 so you would have thought they would have cross checked.

      @@bluebellModelrailway Thanks for that. The overhang is no surprise.
      I grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the home of the Big Boys and Challengers. I really, really wanted to model the UP mainline across Wyoming, but I realized very quickly that I did not have room for the overhang of those locos, let alone the pure tracks space needed. I figured I'd need at least 52" radius curves to make it look reasonable. That's why I reverted to my time in the UK and now model British/Scottish Rail. (Choosing that type of railroading is lonely hobby here in the U.S., but being able to fit a rake of eight Mk 1 coaches behind an appropriate loco without having to run track through the kitchen has been a reward. Besides, I can employ Rule One with impunity.)

    Such an iconic loco, its a great pity that the model isn't correctly detailed. Maybe, if there's another batch made, they will have some of the errors corrected. One thing that you didn't mention is that the fireman's door and roof hatch were almost always open when running, so its important that the door and hatch are able to be opened. The problem with that, however, is that the inside of the cab would then need to be modelled, but the motor is probably in the way.

    Bad, very bad ! Just the fact that you can show us detailed photos of the original. Casts immediate questions over whether "KR Models" have the qualifications, understanding or desire to produce "quality" models. And certainly "RM Web" do not seem to give this company a good review. Quote "Cheap & Cheerful" & "accuracy based on it looks about right". Unquote. Rings of old Cheap bucket market LIMA methods of production to a pre-set cost "Price" ! But KR have set the retail price in the £180 range ? Wouldn't rate this product at a value of more than £75, with so many glaring faults. Which creates serious doubt over the mechanisms ability to be reliable, smooth, and whether "spare parts" (as now required under British Law), will be available !
