  • 180hp and 92ft lbs of torque. Great for not having to shift. 75% throttle near the end. I tried 100% throttle a long time ago; all hell breaks loose and things get blurry fast when you do that. Insanely fast bike - faster than my Blackbird XX to 100mph. Insane.

    I have a 2006 KR and at 6 foot 4 it was really the only bike I felt comfortable on. It is insanely fast if you want to have it that way. At over 140 you can watch the fuel level drop as you fly along.

    I just wait until the idle smooths out after startup. It usually takes less than a minute.

      I drive even slower now! Bought another K1200 but the S model. Still I am slow. And if I ever DO ride fast, there's no evidence of it. ;-p

    This was a quick ride from an American POV ... Habibi , come to Europe if you want a quick ride ...

  • @ababbit7461
    @ababbit7461 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    David, the ride seems kind of hard on that front end. A lot of "jolts" seem to be coming through the bars. Is that because it is in "sport mode" or is that just the kind of ride the K1200R has?

    • @davidpaterson6271
      @davidpaterson6271  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Babbit might be the camera. That bike was one of the smoother sport bikes I've had. I sold it and also the SuperDuke the same month. Now I'm streetbikeless!

    • @ababbit7461
      @ababbit7461 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am going to look at a 2007 K1200R Sport tomorrow with cash in my hand. Are they good bikes? Reliable? How is the insurance cost? Being "Steetbikeless" is painful, go to the nearest dealer and get another street bike to ease the pain... I also have a line on a SuperDuke 990. Which bike is better for everyday riding?

    • @ababbit7461
      @ababbit7461 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought the 2007 K1200R Sport! What kind of bar end mirrors were those on your bike? I would like to get some of those.

    • @davidpaterson6271
      @davidpaterson6271  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Babbit The mirrors were excellent. I was surprised that I could see everything behind me easily even though they were small. I'll look around to see if I still have a record of where I bought them a couple years ago. Might have been eBay. How's your new ride? I always liked the smooth power though it's easy to be going waaaaay faster than the speed limit. Congrats!

    Warning light on? You always leave a bunch of keys on your bike key? Smooth and Fast! I own one! Sound quality on your vidio bleeps...

    • @davidpaterson6271
      @davidpaterson6271  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ron Baker - I never put the turn signals back on so the "lamp" light is always on. You are right about these bikes - smooth and fast. Really no good highways around here where you can cruise at 100mph that the bike wants to do. I had the bike a few years and out of 80 bikes, this is one of the 3 that I miss.

      I've been riding slower for years now. The riding risk is the same but what is at risk has changed. ;-). I've even slowed down enough on the hare scrambles where trail riders can keep up with me. Still fun tho!

    I had my first meeting with this bike today, and I already hate it!!
    Those blinkers isn't really made with ease of use in mind, having to blink in and out of roundabouts, those buttons are in a really bad location, especially for inexperienced learner drivers like myself.
    Now I know what to avoid.

    That is clearly a nice/sweet machine with tons of power and potential. However, I just have to say, I love the riders that let a bunch of keys vibrate and rub all over the console and scratch it up while riding when they could simply isolate the one key needed for operation. I am meticulous with my machines and it's the small things like that which add up to making a machine look bran new when it is 12 years old versus looking like it has been used and abused. It's such a no brainer to me. Also, the warning light is on which doesn't look good for showcasing BMW. Kind of an overall boring video if you're trying to show what the bike can do.

      please go fuck yourself with that attitude. The point is to ride the bike, not ride it fast or "better", whateverthefuck that means. Not everyone is rossi or your grandma.

      Ingenieur1961 - mine too! For some reason I stopped enjoying street bikes a few years ago. Now it's been over a year since I've sold all my street bikes and I don't really miss it. Even when I see a group of riders on a nice day, I just don't have that desire to do it. Dirt riding is fun now though but you'd have the same comment if you saw the vids from my trail riding.

    • @tangledline
      @tangledline 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cmon..you can't bitch about an attitude and then give an attitude...Maybe if it was your video I could understand. At the end of the day people rely on videos for content...and when it says "180hp and 92lbs of torque"...kinda makes people curious.

      I can see your point in not road riding. I have my doubts now and again too. Here in the UK there's too much hate for rider's. In Belgium recently I found rider's get more respect and room. Half the time I'm a 2nd class citizen.
