    Ill be doing this drive June 1st 2024 as part of a road trip to Fairbanks.
    I cant wait! I have done so many in the western lower 48,.and I'm sure my driving in Alaska will be the jackpot!

      Best wishes on your road trip to Fairbanks! You will enjoy it immensely, guaranteed. In Glennallen take left turn and drive on Richardson Highway, this route to Fairbanks is a detour but worth it for those views. Take care!

    Thank you very much this is very well done and beautiful. I use to live in Glenn Allen and made the same drive many times but it’s been almost 20 years

      Glad you enjoyed it, Dave! Makes me wonder why you moved from there, looks like paradise -- at least when the weather is good

    If you own an RV, there’s a great place to stop at called Ranch House Lodge. Right on a river about 10-15 miles from Glennallen and the owners run a lodge that has a bar and serves roadkill chili and homemade pizzas.

      Looked up the lodge on the maps. Photos look great!

    can u please say----what month what day for this beautiful trip??
    thx/

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Between September 4 and 6. Keep in mind, weather in that part of Alaska varies from year to year so give yourself a buffer, don't plan for the exact day.

    Greate! Stunning telephotos with nice composition and colors. October. I am going there in early September 2021. Too early probably for such a beautiful fall? Are there specific photo spots?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! :) I think the entire Glenn Highway has a magnificent look, there are no particular 'spots', you just keep going and stop where you like. Keep in mind rental car companies forbid you from driving certain roads so be careful with that. And good luck this coming fall!

    Beautiful scenery. May I ask, what month was this recorded? Thank you for the eye candy.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Donnie! This was recorded in September.

    I have made this drive dozens of times (just made the trip in and back last weekend) and the clips in this video are from the drive, but only a small portion of the drive from like mile 60 to 124 on the Glenn Hwy. Doesn’t give you the whole picture very well

      You may be right, but closer to Anchorage it feels more normal, more like what you can see in the lower 48, unless you take detour, of course. I guess less things caught my eye there, it is all very subjective. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

    Is it as isolated and unpopulated as it looks in the video?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alaska is not a very populous state and outside of Anchorage and Fairbanks most areas are pretty isolated.

    • @ursulawanza8674
      @ursulawanza8674 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ Sounds creepy and otherworldly.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ursulawanza8674 Not at all creepy. Just a population density. Alaska and the parts of Canada further than 200 km away from the US border are like that. But the sense of civilization never leaves you though so it feels pretty safe.

    That drive looks like it would be terrifying at night.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is pretty straightforward but why drive at night? It is as scenic as it gets so you'll miss all the splendor at night :)

    • @ursulawanza8674
      @ursulawanza8674 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ I definitely wouldn’t take that drive at night. It was just a comment.

      Yeah it's pretty dark lol I've driven that highway at night

  • @ursulawanza8674

    Are there any gas stations on this highway?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's a plenty. I never had my gas range anxiety in that part of Alaska. But it is different north of Fairbanks and especially on Dalton highway where you have hundreds miles with no road services or cell phone coverage.
